    I just don’t know how a game in this day and age can take this big of step backwards.

    In 2025, their biggest franchise update will be..hey we fixed free agent contracts logic.

      Me too, I think I'm going back to 23. I played all the games to the end of May with my Blue Jays franchise and I didn't see a single trade.

      I hope SDS will eventually fix it.

        Seriously. I try to be optimistic every year but this year has been really rough.

        Franchise has more bugs now than I’ve ever seen in the past. I can’t remember them all, but the Corbin Burnes bug, AAV’s being terrible, no trades, trade logic still being broken when there are trades, duplicate players appearing in franchise, etc.

          To be clear it’s not everyone. Kyle Tucker (95 overall) signed a contract with AAV of $37.5M. Some are on par with what you’d expect based on how it worked in previous years, but some like Soto and Vlad Jr above stick out like extremely sore thumbs.

          I’m not sure what the trigger is, same with lack of trades, and I don’t know if it’s a universal problem or tied to roster, or tied to when franchise started, or what is the issue. I just know I’m experiencing it and it’s eradicated my desire to play franchise in ‘24.

            The longer I've played this years game the more I see why they weren't that anxious to show it off in the months leading up to release. They just phoned it in this year IMO.

              Oh that’s way worse than last year. At least they would be for 100 mil or something like that. These are way undervalued. Add it to the other things that need to be fixed for franchise in the last few years.

                Slightly off topic but this is a good hot thread to ask this on.

                I’m just finishing up a 2022 season. First time I made it through all 162 all pitches. I’ve got 23 and 24 already installed (I guess you could say that my ps5 is a MLBTS server).

                If all I care about is playing a single season and things like trades don’t matter to me which version would you recommend?

                  Single season? I’d recommend ‘24. It’s the better all around game.

                      The crazy part about these other issues in franchise is that they admitted to, pretty much, NOT touching gameplay because it was in a good place. So what did they do ? We also didn't really get any new players facescanned to start the year. Equipment has been terrible. It's been a mess.

                      I do enjoy the game and am 92 games deep into my franchise, all games played fully. It just takes SOOO much micromanagement from me. I have to manually injure players and tracks that, manage cpu lineups and bullpens, manage waivers. Like the only I can trust to cpu to do is scout and draft.

                        Well honestly they did several things in franchise mode despite what is happening currently. And again not everyone is experiencing it.

                        Off top of my head:

                        * increased maximum salary ($40M)
                        * added PPI system
                        * added prospect list by organization and position.
                        * increased top prospect list from 50 to 100
                        * added ability to trade players under team control but not signed to contract
                        * corrected how contract renewal works in regards to signing players

                        And I’m thinking there are a couple other things.

                        While I’m as frustrated as anyone with these two issues I’m seeing, it doesn’t mean that the team did nothing and mailed it in as people like to say.

                        Bugs/glitches happen, it’s just these two effect my enjoyment, primarily the lack of trades

                          Unfortunate you had to deal with that CB after investing in 2 months of gameplay.
                          Have you tried a updated roster set and did a quick sim just to see if it helps?
                          I know it would suck to restart for every pitch of every game but just curious what's causing the issue.

                            Yeah I've tried a few different things and its tough to find the culprit. I don't think it has to do with roster, because I can use the same roster and get different results.

                            The good news is that SDS is aware and working on determining the cause to hopefully develop a fix.

                            And I must admit that after having played '24 for so long, its "tough" playing '23.

                              I ger it.While '24 is a little better than '23 in some ways I play every game and get invested in my franchise enough that I hate to start over every year.

                              I have gamepass but was accustomed to purchase anyway but it's hard for me to continue to justify a purchase every year or the feeling of starting over without Y2Y saves.I really only have time for playing franchise games.

                                It is a shame it has come to this with your franchise. But the facts remain SDS cares very little about fixing franchise mode. Not just with what you pointed out but things like still having CPU bullpen issues, player regressing too early.

                                They are more concerned with storylines, and other things they can advertise around which we know what they are.

                                Plus, I fear to fix things they would need to rewrite the entire code of the game and they have no plans to do that. And why should they we still buy the game? And even if we did not buy the game, they still would not fix anything. Franchise mode is likely such a small part of the money they make.
