True, but I'm also getting tired of hearing about how Matt Strahm collects baseball bards of players who hit a home run off him.

It’s stuff like this that does get old especially if you play every game. I’ve turned it off and just enjoy the sounds of/in the stadium. I know they will never do a one man booth but I would think that would put a stop to the repetitiveness.

Inevitably commentary is going to become repetitive, especially player specific background topics, just the nature of the beast.

But despite that, the way the game is called and presented is extremely well executed.

Yeah, I think commentary on for one game out of every seven is more than enough to allow yourself a full Show commentary experience. I try to get 26 games of commentary per season and thats always plenty.

The commentary gets better and better with each update.

Easily best of the series imo

This is so true. I'm working on a roster set that I'm simming to give players stats and awards history. And it's so immersive the commentary that is being opened up for edited players that are reaching career milestones and that have won awards and honors.

That’s why I wish they’d cut out the stories and just announce the game. Especially Singletons long winded stories that seem to go on forever.

Doing that I think sets the commentary back. Those stories about the players help authenticate the commentary.

They need more subjects to make small talk about such as the happenings around the league, previous year stories, all star/awards discussions, discuss weather, upcoming schedule and a host more topics.

Adding sideline reporters and studio updates would help as well.

I wish they had two broadcast teams with two very differing styles to choose from. One with a Just-the-facts-ma'am presentation and then another extremely colorful one with meandering stories about what they ate at the local greasy spoon diner before the game or an occasional happy 90th birthday to Jolene in Long Island.

Absolutely. They have never gotten it right. What makes us think adding even more will do away with the repetition. I was so glad to hear a bit of silence this year in between pitches. So they add more “story’s “ just as I drive a ball into the gap with the winning run on 2nd.

Definitely need better coding. Late and close, those stories don't need to trigger. Its okay if they want spin yarn in the 8th inning and I'm down 8 runs. But a good broadcaster shifts gears when its late and close and tunes their focus more to on the field happenings. Its all in the coding. But lets be real, thats a quality of life thing that doesn't bring in the type revenue Sony is after. They have bigger fish to fry.

Nothing will ever eliminate the repetition because there is a finite amount of storage space for commentary. Play enough games and you will inevitably encounter repetition.

My thought if there is more dedicated commentary towards the happenings of the season, player stats, milestones, contract status, trade rumors, etc it will help the commentary to have more substance to draw from aside from just the play by play which should help commentary to have a more organic feel.

Either that, or he’s thrown out. Personally, after the ball hits the bat I don’t want to hear a continuation of color commentary. Because they’ve never been able to get it right I’d be thrilled with a one man booth, but that’s not gonna happen. How many more years til it’s programmed properly? Games been out a long time and look how messed up it has gotten at times.

For several years I thought I wanted a one-man booth but when we got it in the minor league games this year, PU, its a stinker. But they would probably put better quality into a one-man MLB booth. At least I would hope so.

Anyone think we'll get an update this week with the 4th of July caps? The 4th is on Thursday, which is their normal update day. Not sure they'd release an update on the holiday so if we get one I'd say it'll be Tuesday or Friday.
