Played Game Stats Modern; Simmed Stats an Older MLB?

Has anyone in Franchise Mode found that the team stats of the rest of the league are more on average with that of the MLB from 10-15 years ago?

I play Franchise on Legend/Sim with default sliders and I play all my games and the rest of the league is of course simmed. While playing my games I felt it was a fair representation of the current MLB and my stats seemed to reflect that. However, upon averaging out the Team Rankings of the rest of the league, the results mimicked that of the MLB about 10 or so years ago.

For instance, strike outs. In my Franchise they range from 5.75 to 8.06 with me being 2nd worse at 7.79. Where as in 2023 they ranged from 7.05 to 10.28.

And there is already way too many Complete games. We're more on pace for something around that in 2010.

Yes. The sim engine hasn’t been touched in a long time.

It is the main reason we created the FFTR roster.

How does the roster solve that issue?

I also recommend the sliders sub - they are specifically addressing the sim stats you’ve mentioned i.e complete games, shutouts, and K/9.

        Default doesn’t sim well.

It's a longstanding issue. There are severeal folks who have made rosters and slider sets to help improve sim stats.

The TrueSim Roster (made by my team) and the Franchise to Fidelity Roster are the two most popular ones out of this community. I'd give either a go.

To reduce complete games you need to raise manager hook to 10 for simulated games with pitching stamina at default 5. Other than CG, there aren't any sliders you can adjust to help with any other simulation stat.

IDK how team steals are now, but they used to be extremely high compared to real life. With new rules now, those steal numbers may be close to real life nowadays.

Alright, if I understand correctly, sliders do NOT effect sim stats. So anything simmed will be circa 2010 MLB and anything played is current MLB. Is that the consensus? The gameplay has evolved but the sim engine has NOT?

So, my logic concludes that you can only attempt to bring gameplay backwards and you can do this with sliders and rosters?

Certain sliders do actually affect sim stats. Pitching hook and a few others change the sim stats.

The sliders affecting sim stats are pitcher stamina, manager hook and injuries.

Roster edits will likely have more of an effect on certain things like K's, SBs etc that go beyond slider edits.
