Watching gameplay of Pro Yakuu Spirits 24. The play once the ball is put into play is a tad stiff, that said, the graphics/presentation/pitching/hitting are amazing.

Fielding has always been a glaring weak spot for PYS. Graphically the game has always been pushing hardware limits.

We have to remember the sheer number of assets MLBTS has to worry about graphically is nearly three times that of PYS, so directly comparing the two isn't fair. NPB only has 12 teams whereas MLB has 30. Each NPB team only has 70 registered players at a given time whereas each MLB club has between 275-280 players under contract at any given time. Another big thing is that Konami hasn't done a yearly release since 2015 (only two PYS console games have been released since then). That's just scratching the surface.

I definitely think there is room for improvement and I truly believe the developers at SDS want to improve every aspect of the game; however, unfortunately, there are things out of their control that keep this from happening.

Agree, and honesty for me the biggest jump was from ps2 to ps3. After that seems like the graphics haven’t caught up. I hate to say it but the only way that changes is if we get a different baseball game so they have competition.

Does anyone foresee a few special additions for MLB25 for the PS5 pro? Figured I’d toss it out there as it could potentially lead to some improvement over the standard PS5.

I vaguely remember the PS4 Pro had some extra things the standard PS4 didn’t have.

Yeah, I *think*, starting with MLBTS17, that was the first Show to look better on the PS4 Pro. I didnt get my PS4 Pro until like october 2018, and I dont know when it was originally released , butI would almost be willing to bet MLBTS25 is "Pro" ready.

Ray tracing I thought could be the most noticeable. Reflections, shadows, perhaps lighting? I think there are some possibilities to add further realism, in addition to the enhancements from dropping previous consoles and focusing solely on NG.

My hope is that this version going forward — we really start seeing the capability of the PS5 on MLB the Show. Perhaps I’m being too optimistic.

Just tried MLB the show on the pro and it runs at 120fps with no pro patch. It’s way smoother so they can definitely improve a lot on this game especially with the very low textures it has. They can add better shadows, reflections and even ray tracing.

I don't think raytraced reflections would add much as there aren't many reflective surfaces in the game but if they can add ray traced shadows and ambient occlusion, that would add so much realism to the games lighting system. But I still think dirt and grass should be the highest priority.

It does look very pretty. It looks better than I initially thought it did when just seeing the preview videos. But, like you said, the gameplay looks very stiff and awkward once the ball is in play. I'll take The Show's gameplay over PYS graphics any day of the week. Of course, as I've said many times before, I don't think The Show is a bad looking game by any stretch of the imagination.

True…good looking game. I’m currently playing ‘20 for my winter ball fix. The presentation, for the most part, is exactly the same….mound visit, post game celebrations, etc. Really hoping for an update for ‘25.

So true on the graphics overhaul as I have been very vocal about some of the unsightliness of the graphics like the top portion of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis that is crooked and has not been addressed unbelievably in at least the past five versions of the game!

Where I recently saw the need for a graphical upgrade was playing in Dodgers Stadium and all of the low-res imagery in the background of the stadium, like the natural terrain. To be honest, I was quite shocked to see something out of the N64 All Star Baseball 01 mold in a game in 2024. Completely horrible looking and hoping SDS makes graphical upgrades a top priority.

Yeah I’ve said it before, if their stadium graphics is super busy they should hire an intern to update all the backgrounds of all the stadiums. But maybe we are at a point where AI could jump in and help with such tasks.

And then I go back to The Show and its like they're playing on a flat green carpet. I'd also love to see them do something to make jerseys look less stiff and clay-like. They added hair sim in 24, cloth sim can't be far behind.
PYS didn't overhaul the grass for 24/25 either. I'm not sure why no baseball games have good looking grass unless there's some level of performance hit they can't get past. The dirt is a different story. PYS' dirt textures are fantastic and even better when playing in the rain.

I just played a three game series against St Louis where I kept saying “The presentation of this game is unreal “ and I swear just last week while playing at Fenway I said “ This game looks terrible” it’s probably just me but I think sometimes this game feels, plays and even looks completely different.
