They finally turned a corner in hair physics with 24 One game changer for me with the PS5 version is I can now have 60 different stadiums for my MiLB experience. I took full advantage of it this year because I played the full Triple A and Double A seasons w the Mets affiliates. But in the long run it was a wash because of losing Sounds of the Show. Graphics are nice and all but because I can only play about a fifth of my schedule with broadcast crew on (otherwise it becomes too repetitive), I needed the audio of SotS to go along with the visuals.

Skies haven't changed.

Cameras haven't changed.

The ball hasn't changed.

The more stagnancy I see, the less inclined I am to get back into this franchise.

I'm guessing there is upper management calling the shots in some way, but it's frustrating as a consumer.

I agree with the OP, After playing Madden 24 and 25 I thought to myself if MLB The Show had this engine the possibilities. But here is my thought like the previous post mentioned it could be a upper management issue holding the game back graphically. While it does not look bad just play Madden 25.

So the hope is that they have been secretly working on the graphics for the last 4-5 years and it will be on full display in MLB The Show 25. But if I see footage of the umpires in MLB The Show 25 wearing the same black blocks for shoes it's over. The PS5 Pro is a marketing gimmick I fell for it on the PS4 pro and the PS5 pro is not the reason the graphics for MLB The Show have been held back.

From a graphical standpoint, the umpires need a lot of work. As much as I love Rusty Valentine behind the dish, I don't want to look at him.

Upper management may very well be the issue with this game which sucks…IMO we are probably 3-5 years away from a graphical change and that’s only if another company steps in and provides some competition…with Konami not making Pro Spirits a yearly game maybe there’s the possibility one day they’ll decide to make a MLB game…only chance we see SDS/Sony make any significant changes to this game

To be honest, it's probably not a fault of the engine why the games graphics and art has been stagnant for 10+ years. That's mostly on the developers art department. Whether that's because they are being lazy or they are incompetent or it's upper management telling them not to bother and/or they have intentionally kept the art department staff to a minimum, because Diamond Dynasty is what makes the company money, not better graphics...

If they were to ever release this game on PC, I'm sure the modding community would put the art direction of the developers to shame within a year......probably why they don't...

If you even notice the umps in the first place, then they arent doing their job lol. Fire the Show umps now! They need tobe more concerned about calling balls and strikes in my favor instead of putting on a fashion Show any way lol.

I remember in MLB 17 when they showed the drastic improvements they were making at the time on their twitch stream. The guys running the art department are definitely passionate about it because they were talking in great detail about everything for an hour and a half.

My assumption is that there are so many competing priorities, especially because they have to run this on 5 platforms now, and their gameplay engine is in a sweet spot. It’s a huge overhaul to employ a new graphics engine while not interrupting the gameplay. Madden and FIFA/EAFC still have major gameplay issues and don’t play as well as they did on their previous engine.

But my point with showing this video is that saying they are lazy or don’t care is completely disingenuous. I know this video was 7 years ago but a lot of these guys are still there working on the game. I doubt they’d go from this to just not caring anymore.

Do you think these are a bunch of guys hanging around in someone's garage deciding to watch King of Queens reruns rather than work on the project? Ever work for a major corporation? The opportunity to be "lazy" is not even present.

Art team and every other team take direction from execs from various other teams like marketing, sales, advertising, and the project executive team. Individuals don't decide on that they are going to work on daily. There is no concept of laziness in this arena. Don't show up for work frequently or miss deadlines will get you fired. Period. They all have performance metrics to meet and get reviewed yearly by management. Level 3 performer? Work on your resume...

Do you think these are a bunch of guys hanging around in someone's garage deciding to watch King of Queens reruns rather than work on the project? Ever work for a major corporation? The opportunity to be "lazy" is not even present.

Yeah, that's always been a major gear grinder around here for me. I think the word they are looking for is ''sloppy'', not lazy.

Yeah, I don't think the team is lazy. MLB The Show has improved gameplay a lot over the years. I was around when they used give graphic improvements during the yearly streams and it stopped. I used to work for a different division of Sony so I know about the politics.

Even though I purchased MLB The Show 24 this year and all previous years lol, I am a die hard baseball fan. Then I came across Madden 24 and I was like lets see if they improved this football game after not playing for years. What shocked me was the graphical improvements from Madden 24 to 25. I was shocked so much I stopped playing the show all together and learned how to play football even during the playoffs I was watching madden tutorials on how to play defense lol. So I thought its not a PS5 or XBox limitation.

But seriously I hope the team shows up and shows out for 25 but if it looks similar to 24 especially the umpire shoes. I don't think I will be paying up for 25, 24 plays great. Also they Konami baseball looks amazing even the lighting. I bet if one major influencer played the game and gave it attention MLB The Show Graphics would be out of this world.
