One of the many reasons I love 20 for classic roster play is the vast audio library of all those classic players in comparison to when the change was made in the booth. Also the gameplay engine under the hood lends itself better to classic roster baseball....that's a personal opinion after 1000's of hours of gameplay. Sounds of the Show also lends itself into some serious immersion with classic rosters. I have 70's and 80's era specific audio packs that have elevated my immersion using risters from those two era's.

Hopefully, Boog and Singleton are spending all their free time building up their vocabulary for 25. It's pretty extensive though. Hearing them describe a user created and rated Ozzie Smith as a typical player from the 80s, ie: less power but more contact is chef's kiss to me.

Can't really go wrong with any of these versions imo.

They really do need to update the presentation in 25. The pregame or start of the game needs a refresher and more dialog about the game. I like when they talk about a possible sweep or rubber match in the series finale but they need more conversations in all the games. Like..the Cubs will try to even the series tonight.

The homerun clips need upgraded. It is pretty much the same order of clips every homerun. Why do we need to see the manager sitting by himself on the bench clapping everytime?

I don’t know how easy or hard it would be but with todays stadiums how they turn the lights off and on when they hit a home run or win the game, it would be nice to have that in the game.

Also, I would love for them to at least have the team’s victory song in the game. Not asking for every homerun song or a full sounds of the show package but it be nice to have a 30 second clip of New York New York or Go Cubs Go after a win.

Madden can play the TD songs from every team. So o would think it is possible.

Would love for them to bring back the pitching recap of the starter after he leaves the game.

Yeah….the manager on the bench by himself. Needs to go. More Show drone would be nice. Manager walking to the mound with the Show drone….

I'm in the opposite camp. Make the current "fast play" option even faster. I personally hate cutscenes in sports games. I turn everything I can off and find myself pounding X (A) to get to the action. MLB The Show and NBA 2K...first thing I do in both games is turn off cutscenes, batter walkups, etc. My gaming time is limited, let me sit and play not watch . One of the things that makes me enjoy College Football 25 more than Madden 25 is how streamlined it is (there is so much wasted time in Madden 25). I'm ok with pregame stuff, halftime stuff, post game stuff, but when it is gametime just let me play the game (not watch cutscenes).

I realize I may be in minority here but I truly hope they don't make games longer with presentation items without ways to turn them off.

The only thing that I think broke after 22 was quick counts. Before, quick counts would still give you the same game. Now, the strikeouts increase with quick counts. And in 23, they stopped taking away one pitch per AB.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion. I usually play a full 162 game season and 24 was the first year that I used the same slider set (Shoutout to S&B!) for the entire season and wasn't getting tired of the game towards the end of the season.

If it wasn't for NBA 2K25 and me deciding to cancel Game Pass, I would still be playing it somewhat regularly.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion. I usually play a full 162 game season and 24 was the first year that I used the same slider set (Shoutout to S&B!) for the entire season and wasn't getting tired of the game towards the end of the season.

If it wasn't for NBA 2K25 and me deciding to cancel Game Pass, I would still be playing it somewhat regularly.

I appreciate the shoutout man. I'm glad our set helped you enjoy playing the entire season. I bought CF25, NBA2K25, and Madden 25 and played them for a bit but baseball pulled me back in. I think what helps me is I use JWDixon's spreadsheets on franchise and I enter all the stuff after each game and it helps me keep being immersed in the franchise.

I tend to think gameplay has improved in all facets over time. Whenever I've gone back to older games, I tend to just want to return to the latest edition.

The one thing that was better in the past was the check swing mechanic. It was definitely too generous to the batter but the current system does seem legitimately busted. The path of your bat has no relationship to the animation and seemingly little relationship to the ultimate call.

Yes, checked swings needs tweaking. The CPU gets away with a lot. User can hardly buy a break.

After MLB 20 they nerfed the plate discipline rating in the dice roll and check swings were made based on your button pressure.

Online whining made sure they made it user based vs ratings based.

It was a decision I did not agree with at all for offline players.

On 21 it was brutal bad, 22 as well.

23 saw slight improvement and I can’t speak to 24. While you would get away with a little more on on titles prior to 20 the outcry was ridiculous by online player’s because the animation was off a lot on 20.

Anyway it’s old hat…..and I don’t expect check swings to change much. Hopefully they keep tweaking it to get a better balance. I can say 23 was a much bigger improvement from 21 amd 22 but still not balanced enough.

I will take what we have today in terms of check swings versus what it used to be when 90%, if not more, check swings resulted in the hitters favor.

I wish they would find a better balance though. Because now it feels 80/20 against the hitter…..it is really sensitive and too many legit check swings are called strikes.

23 was definitely improved from 21/22 as literally it was almost impossible to buy a check swing.

It still needs some better balancing.

Wish I could say the same.

It’s not anything game breaking for me….I throughly enjoyed 23. I just hope they tweak it a bit more for my old *** and some others here lol.
