Rule 5 draft franchise mode

I just finished my first season playing 30 team control. I tried to set the 40 man roster for each team as they are in real life. I have a problem with the Rule 5 draft, since I can’t control each pick for every team, the CPU did draft some players and I can’t return them to their previous teams.

Is there a workaround for this? Is there a way to skip the draft or release / return the players?

I set drafting “manual” for both my profile and the CPU’s profile.

I mean, I obviously skip the pick for my team, but the CPU isn’t.

Rule 5 draft franchise mode

What if I trade some non 40 man roster players to get over the 40 man limit, edit the attributes of the rule 5 guys to force (auto fix) the CPU to DFA them.

I don’t know what else to do.

Rule 5 draft franchise mode

If they are Rule 5 picks, they have to remain on 26 man roster for the entire regular season.

If you try to send to minors then their original team can reclaim them

That’s the thing, there’s no option to send them to the minors or DFA, just edit player.

Not true. You can also trade them after which the acquiring team has to keep them on the 26 man roster.

I'm curious why the op wants to block this for cpu teams. Is he trying to prevent the cpu teams from acquiring his players who he hasn't protected?

Not true. You can also trade them after which the acquiring team has to keep them on the 26 man roster.

Even after being traded, a Rule 5 pick still has the roster requirements tied to him even with his new team, as you clearly stated when telling me that my statement about a rule 5 pick has to stay on 26 man roster was not true.

Again what did I say that wasn’t true?

Yes, I did simulate to spring training to see if I get another option but it didn’t happen.

I think you might be right, I’ll try that later tonight. If it doesn’t work, I’ll just trade the players back to their previous teams (they will still in big leagues) and let the CPU deal with it.

I was trying to replicate the first season (incluiding the offseason moves) and play the later seasons focused on my team, giving the CPU more freedom.

*UPDATE*: once the season starts, there’s an option to place the rule 5 draftees on waivers. Thanks again.
