This looks really good to me. Like a lot of people I haven't played RTTS much since they changed it to the load out/perk system. But the stuff they added definitely has me interested.

I don’t play RTTS but just watched FIELDING FEEDBACK: ROAD TO THE SHOW on YouTube. The CAP faces gave us a few more human looking choices last year, but still needed a lot of better face models to choose from.

Am I seeing some better faces in this preview?

High School and College? Ok, cool.

I can type up a laundry list of things but it's not worth the time honestly.

Overall I"m just saying for me personally nothing they showed today was a needle mover at all. Did it need to be? I dunno, but I expected more.

Sports games as a whole, all of them, are in the same boat. Not much you can do to move the needle anymore. We had games with depth in 2005, then 2010, then 2015 and all get stripped and start over. Most not for the better depth wise.

Just is what it is now I guess as a sports fan/gamer. We just treading water.

The positive with MLB The Show is that IMO it's hands down gameplay wise and also allowing you to play anyway you want settings wise.

This is the best way to do it. I've been doing this the last two years as well.
You can’t say “this game has nothing” and then not provide what you want.

We probably have a similar list of depth items they can add, but people have been asking for them to update this mode for years so it’s pretty big that they made a bunch of changes, even if they aren’t what you are looking for.

I’m sure as I play the mode this year I’ll have plenty of thoughts on what they can add, but they did do a lot this year.

They need to put the old RTTS mode where you could take massive amounts of steroids and risk being suspended.

Really hope international players get something a bit different. Dominican guys don't play high school ball or go to college. They try out at 16 years old in front of scouts for a free agent contract.

I really want to recreate my cousin or my uncle.

A ball is also missing. You'd think that by the PS5 gen they'd have added it in. These consoles have the space for it. They could go full minors if they wanted to start in rookie ball. Make it a next gen only feature.

Like many others, I have been strictly RttS for most of the time I have played The Show and like others, I have not played since '20 because of the nonsense they decided to do such as incorporating DD into RttS and stuff like that. I'm not sure anything that was featured would make me want to go out and play '25. Perhaps when it goes on sale. The fact that there still isn't any Y2Y saves and unlikely to return is a driving force for me to pass on any future games.

Where did I say the game has nothing? But if I did, I don't have to provide what I want. I've done it in the past here and with NHL etc. It gets you nowhere. Waste of time honestly. I've whined and moaned for changes in NHL since NHL 07. I can copy and paste the same thoughts to this years game and the basic stuff still gets ignored. Is what it is with sports games. Small teams etc. Changing of Dev teams etc. Rinse and repeat.

What are the big RTTS specific changes? The few high school/college games and the old progression system? I don't feel thats a bunch of changes even though it doesn't move the needle for me personally.

The other changes are gameplay specific as a whole not for just RTTS and these ones are decent additions for sure.

Hopefully I don't get flamed for this... but is it just me or do the created and high school/minor league player faces look better this year? Looking at this Deep Dive they don't look so ridiculous. Maybe this is all a byproduct of whatever improved lighting is in the game this year.

I mean they probably intentionally used better looking faces, and didn't show weirder ones. I didn't see anything that couldn't be made using the current CAP editor.

I don't see why there wouldn't be space, even when it was on the PS4...EA's NHL for example...NHL, AHL, ECHL, SHL, The Finnish league, Czech league, German (?) league, PWHL, all 60 teams from the CHL...when you add them up, there are somewhere in the vicinity of 200ish teams in the game, all comprising of 20-23 players, meaning that (This is a rough guesstimation), there are potentially over 4400 players in the game, not including free agents.

MLB the Show has around 2790, not including free agents.

In fairness, I'm sure that it takes up more space having 30 MLB ballparks, as well as a number of minor league/classic parks, as opposed to hockey arenas, which are fairly standard.

All of that being said, I'd assume that the roster size issue is less about having the ability to have bigger rosters, and more about:

-The AI struggling with progression/regression on a large scale.
-AI struggling with actual roster creation in Franchise, including with contracts.
-An overall lack of interest from a user desire in having to manage an even larger roster in franchise mode.

The last one is why I think we'll never even sniff the greatness of OOTP...there are simply not enough of us who want to go that deep into franchise mode. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely do...I want a the full experience when it comes to building/maintaining an organization, but there are also many more people who either lack the attention span, or desire to do more that run a simple franchise (or play diamond dynasty instead...).

Give me large roster sizes, give me an International signing period, and give me a more in-depth stadium creator! Heck, if you're rolling with some NCAA stuff in this game, give it the full rollout!

But, I think it's safe to say that none of that is happening any time soon (aside from maybe some upgrades to stadium creator?)

When you start back up maybe you can confirm whether you still have to jam down on R3 to see a throw to first(and other bases) like you do in 24 when you don't in other modes.
Maybe you could ask your friends what the reasoning was .

Same here. First time buying since 20. I loathe the card system and "load outs" and been waiting 5 years for this change back to normalcy.
