Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
-other teams pursuing in free agency. its too cut and dry as of last year. thats not how FA works. maybe meetings like real life?
-some type of star status system where you have input on the org.
-sponsors that mean something. equip or perks?
-contract actually meaning something. also tie it to equipment or perks?
-more interaction with agent/manager/hitting-pitching coach
-offseason training
Idk if the video clips are still in rtts but I always thought those resources would of been better used for the in game experience. Have more in game chatter about your character would be cool. I see very little difference from running a franchise on player lock vs. rtts once you make it to the majors. I'm not saying its a terrible mode but it could be much deeper.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
We can finally decide where our attributes go again and they got rid of the card system. I haven't played RTTS since 20 because of these changes.
I had been on the fence so far about the game but this is the first thing I have seen that has swayed me. May be a release day purchase after all.
Now? Once Jim Myers completes his 93 Man 1985 for 25 I will plunge myself back into RTTS and relive the 80’s as I grind towards The Show. Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1

Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
I only play RTTS, creating around 8 guys plus myself and circle through them 1 week each (I play every position except pitcher and catcher). So, for me, that deep dive was more than welcome.
Here's my impressions after seeing the deep dive :
The 15 years old in me : "Holy hell there's a lot to like about those changes, we're going to have a ton of fun playing that game!!!!"
The 35 years old in me : "Impressive but we'll need to learn a lot of new stuff and manage through that. That's nice changing a bit, doesn't it?"

Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
I'm not sure I've ever seen a sports simulation game with so many quick time events. The game already feels like a bunch of mini games where you only control icons on the screen. Now they've added even more.
I don't think this studio is capable of producing a innovative, updated modern baseball game.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
These are things people have been clamoring for for years when it comes to RTTS. People wanted pre-minor league gameplay and reverting back to the old progression system where you can pick and choose how you want to progress and develop as a player. All good stuff.
I like how HS/College isn't too much though, a series of games is plenty and will be fun to play through.
The equipment, perks and lack of brand deals/sponsorships are still a big no from me.
I'm going to repeat my RTTS method like I've done for a few years now and that is by putting my RTTS players (one SP and one Position Player) in my franchise universe.
I love having the control of teams/call ups/trades/free agency/lineups. I like being able to wear any equipment I want and not worry about attribute boosts. I also like not having "+Vis" every time I take a pitch for a ball or "+Con" every time I make contact. It just ruins the immersion for me.
In my RTTS, I play every game. I make it through 15-20 full seasons in a career while also playing my franchise/rebuild. It's cool having them in the same universe, especially when my RTTS player and Franchise team face off in the World Series, a win-win for me personally.
The progression in Franchise works well in that I still end up as 99 OVR but not too quickly. In RTTS I hated getting called up as 19-year-old straight from AA and I'd purposely do bad to prevent it, but it'd still happen. RTTS progresses so fast to keep the casual entertained. In my franchise, I basically skip over the minors, I've grinded enough over the years. And I like being able to face current MLB players in their prime, rather than wait 2-3 years and miss out on facing Kershaw and Verlander for example.
My plan for '25 is to start a RTTS as normal, play through the "Amateur Years" to get that experience and then re-create the player with same attributes and style. Plug them into my franchise and start playing.
RTTS players should be thrilled with these upgrades.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
Progression that used to be in past games?
High School and College? Ok, cool.
I can type up a laundry list of things but it's not worth the time honestly.
Overall I"m just saying for me personally nothing they showed today was a needle mover at all. Did it need to be? I dunno, but I expected more.
Sports games as a whole, all of them, are in the same boat. Not much you can do to move the needle anymore. We had games with depth in 2005, then 2010, then 2015 and all get stripped and start over. Most not for the better depth wise.
Just is what it is now I guess as a sports fan/gamer. We just treading water.
The positive with MLB The Show is that IMO it's hands down gameplay wise and also allowing you to play anyway you want settings wise.
This is the best way to do it. I've been doing this the last two years as well.Last edited by Fiddy; 02-18-2025, 05:56 PM.Twitch
