Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
I can see that. That's how it was for the other sports career modes before EA CFB came back. I wonder if it is a single College Playoffs or if we could do multiple. It would be a little disappointing if we lose our first playoff series and that's it for collegeComment

If you REALLY want to stretch that out, I assume "Watch Full Game" should still be a Mode-Specific option.
While you're at it, you can note your amateur teammates, and look them up later.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show Deep Dive
I'm in the same boat.
I always prefer the journey/grind over the destination in all sports career modes. Once I get the point where I'm dominating, I lose interest. The journey is what keeps me interested. So, starting from HS to College, then Minors, then Majors should provide a good journey. I don't think the HS season is that long, but I wonder how long the college seasons are and how many seasons we could do. I would do 3-4 years in college. So for me, that would be HS, 3-4 years in College, about 2 seasons in Minors before I get to the majors. I usually only ever play a season to a season half and all sports games. So having a pre-Majors journey would make the mode worthwhile..
I'm hit or miss with the unspoken cutscenes. It's similar with Madden's Superstar mode. Probably saves a lot of resources and time to not have to do the voice recording and mo-cap. But, seeing the unspoken lines between games that's supposed to be storylines doesn't really immerse me.
I fully disagree. I’ve done the minor league journey every year from 2009-2022. Then I get to MLB and I’m facing a different league than current day. I missed out on facing Kershaw or Albert Pujols because I was wasting time in AAA when I knew at some point I’d eventually get the call. And to top it off, since I spent so much time in minors, I don’t see a full career come to an end, just run out of time and retire early.
These days, I fully skip the minors and create a player in my franchise, put him on a team and then player lock his full MLB career. The grind is now in his early MLB career, rather than upgrading your player in the minors and by the time you make MLB you’re an ROY/MVP caliber player year 1

My viewpoint is different when it comes to the Show. One, I'm not a big baseball fan. Two, I just got back into playing The Show, in '23. So, it's a little different for me.
Even though I like playing Career modes, I rarely get past year 2. Mainly because I'm usually on a time crunch. But, also there's usually a flaw in the mode that keeps me from playing long term. Only career mode that I "finish" is Ea CFB RTG.
I don't know why I'm not really into doing Player Locks in Career mode. Even though, I always tell myself that I probably should've just did a Player Lock instead. With Player Lock, you can have more customization, less fluff, and more control. My issue is just I kind of prefer how most career modes structure their progression. I should try to do more Player Locks.Comment

I can definitely understand that.

That’s fair. I know the fun of it is seeing how quickly you can progress and how young you can be in the MLB. I feel MLBTS RTTS mode progresses way too quickly. I often times would be a 19 year old getting the call and be at least 80 OVR just by playing in the minors and progressing each game. Pretty much be a lock for ROY and have no struggle.
I’d definitely recommend player locking in franchise rather than RTTS. Like you mentioned, it’s more customizable, control and less fluff.
You can equip whatever equipment you want without worrying about the tiers and attribute boosts, just whatever you think looks cool. You also have a handle on the organization (if you want) and can avoid trading away your team’s best player. And with less fluff, you aren’t seeing +FLD everytime you catch a ball and +VIS everytime you don’t swing at a ball. It just gets annoying. Don’t get me started on the at-bat goals and that huge pop up that takes up the whole screen. What a way to ruin the immersion of a walk-off hit or something. Idk I used to love RTTS but when I saw the direction they took it with archetypes and DD player and equipment cards it really turned me off. Then the relationships/teammates mechanic was a waste. The off field training is cool but I would rather on-field mini games not a smartphone mobile app game.
The progression I feel is better too. I start it off by actually going into RTTS, building my player the way I want him to play (ex. high power, low contact, low speed) then I go and write down the starting attributes. Go into create a player, re-create with the attributes and put them on a team that makes sense. Then fire up franchise and player lock all of the games.
Over the course of a career, the attributes will absolutely increase based on your stats. If you hit a long of home runs, your power will increase. Don’t hit Lefties well? It’ll decrease.
I feel it’s more organic and production based rather than “well, I’m slow so I’ll increase my speed attribute” that doesn’t seem realistic to me.
Give it a try, I’m happy to help answer any questions you have about it

Very limited college options. I'll just go to the minors after high school. Since I can't play for Syracuse, I'm definitely not playing for any of the enemies.T-BONE.
