I'm fine with blaming Nintendo, because I'm tired of the blame going to those of us who buy every year and are fine with where the graphics stand.

No it’s because their devs actually care! Sorry I thought we were doing that whole care vs not care thing again.

2k is still on old gen as well, so there are minor tweaks they have in both versions like ProPlay only being on next gen.

Maybe we can get Sony to make a baseball game where the playing field is the size of a basketball court. Arena baseball, plenty of homers, air conditioned throughout, the fans will eat it up.

This is so true. All you have to do is look on the other side of the continent in Asia and look at Pro Yakyū Spirits 2024-2025 which is exclusive to PS5. Watching gameplay from Japan's Professional Baseball Spirits made me realize just how far behind MLB The Show is. It's a shame that we can't have graphics and animations like this in the Show.

This console generation has taught me one thing, and it's to not hurry to buy the next console.

Graphics are no longer seeing the big jumps they used to, load times right now are manageable, and games aren't using the full power of the latest console, so why bother getting a new console until it's absolutely "necessary"?

oh man, I grabbed MLBTS24 on the Switch last May, the night before I left for a no-kid vacation to Sarasota, FL on a whim (as I had been playing early access on Xbox the whole time). Playing in the airport, playing on the Gulf of Mexico with my feet in the sand, playing at home watching the Mets on TV. I played more of the Show last year because of the Switch than any game since I was a kid. Preoredered it again on the Switch. Sorry for being part of the problem!

Not part of the problem at all. I'm happy you get to enjoy The Show like that, there's nothing wrong with that.

I just wish they prioritized the newer consoles since we're in what Year 5 and ported over at a later date on older platforms. That said, I have NO IDEA what it takes to do that and the fact that they haven't done that tells me it's more complex (and costlier) than that.

I have to remind people of this every year.

This pic is about ten years old. It only gets more true with time.

I don't care if The Show looks like Baseball Stars on NES or Triple Play Baseball on PS1.

                            Does the game play well?

Believe it or not there is WAY more that goes into graphics than just polygon count.

That said I have to give SDS credit, they've tackled my two biggest gripes with the games visuals in just this year, the grass/dirt textures and the uniform template both look markedly improved over the past, I don't know, 8 releases or so. The uniforms especially, I thought we were going be stuck with that old fit until the heat death of the universe.

I don't think the Switch is holding this game back. Graphics wise I'm sure they're just going to stick with legacy code until the Switch 2 version comes out.
