I was intrigued by the new FA board and improvement in contract logic (I still think it's a little light for relievers, especially) but the 5 year veterans being able to refuse a minor league assignment sealed it for me - I'm a buyer now. That's irked me for years.

I hope that other players have an accurate number of option years remaining. Or that SDS just makes it editable.

I think they updated everyone's option years in 2023 - but I'm not sure if they continue to update it every year.

I agree it would be nice if it was editable though

Honestly, the 5 year rule sealed it for me as well. Definitely can add a layer of depth come crunch time, especially if you have several players that fit this criteria. Roster management will be that much more impactful

Hasn't taken the HUGE steps to keep his high prospect profile, and fought some injuries... in this instance, maybe the Yanks want to just move and the price of Nathaniel Lowe, was worth it for them.

Idk, i'm trying not to kill the thought of these trades before playing the game first hand - i'm trying to give the dev team benefit of the doubt that they improved trade logic. I'm sure we'll see plenty that don't make sense... I guess thats what makes the game interesting.
Yeah not that weird. Eloy Jimenez (considered a generational prospect at the time) was traded for Jose Quintana. Fernando Tatis was basically traded for James Shields. Dansby Swanson was basically traded for Luke Weaver less than a year after being the #1 pick. Let’s not forget Mookie betts was essentially traded for Alex Verdugo, Connor Wong, and Jeter downs. Teams do weird things when they are going for it or trying to cut payroll.

As others have said Nate Lowe was having a pretty good year, and is still fairly young and controllable. Not the most egregious. What we really need is the ability to review and accept/decline CPU trades like in NBA 2k

This also reminds me of Trea Turner being traded as a PTBNL to the Nationals from the Padres in a crazy three teamer which included guys like Jake Bauer, Joe Ross, and Wil Myers amongst other recognizable names.

Curious, not a coder so no idea how difficult it would be, but to avoid "gamebreaking" immersion trades, why doesn't SDS add an option for us to approve or decline CPU/CPU trades like NBA 2K has?

I imagine its not hard to code but its likely a matter of time they can cram into a yearly cycle. The devs probably have it on their bucket list but its also way low on the totem pole.
