The bullpen is ridiculous. It is so hard to see who is ready. The stats overlay prior to the game where it shows Avg, HR, RBI's is horrible. It was clear in 24 and now its in the upper rt corner. They did nothing in commentary but take things out. Its still the same lines from 24 minus things. I know it will be patched but the Commentary lines are so off it kills the game right now. Every game defaults to the same broadcast, same weather, no randomness. It appears the last patch did nothing except fix bullpen issues that have been there for over 10 years and introduce several game killing bugs. It's really hard to understand how they don't test this stuff before its widely released. We should not have to wait a month to play a game thats not full of bugs

They do a lot of testing. However there is so much code that when you change one thing, a completely unrelated set of code may be impacted and it’s hard to test everything else that you think shouldn’t be impacted, especially when it turns out to be totally unrelated.

In regards to the bullpen, just look at the icon to see if the pitcher is ready or not. I like the old view better, but it’s actually easier to see status now.

Anybody notice that the Lets’s go (team name) chant goes every pitch while the home team is batting. I think this happened last year too. I play as the dodgers and they don’t play the organ music anymore like they do. It did at early access.

With all respect, not sure how you can say they “do a lot of testing”. Pretty rhetorically untrue, as some of the issues seen should easily be noticed/addressed.

I find some issue sometimes where I literally say to myself “do these guys even play or test their game?”

When you test updates, you are given a list of changes that are made. You go through and test those exact changes tens to hundreds of times. If you find other bugs while doing so, you report them. However if it’s totally unrelated to the update or through the method to get to where the update is made, as a tester you’ll never see them so you won’t know it’s a bug until someone goes through and plays to the point that the bug pops up.

Additionally, there is a timeframe to get bug fixes in. So even if something popped up, they have to pick and choose what fixes go in before the cutoff date of a release.

I agree that some should’ve been caught up front, but if we waited for them to fix every bug, we’d be waiting until July to get the game released. I’m sure most of these will be fixed in the next patch and replaced by new bugs that pop up and will need to be fixed. Just have to hope it’s not as many as the last release.

No, but I have reason. As in logical reasoning/deduction.

And I do work in software, and while admittedly have no direct knowledge of game design, I do have some insight into testing changes I make. Or what is expected from a QA team.

Not meant as a total diss of SDS, but surprised by the “little things” that get through and really shouldn’t. Likely a product of management pushing to get things done vs developers doing their due diligence. IMO.

This bugs me so much! I play as the cubs and every single at bat “let’s go cubs” and it literally lasts the entire at bat. Has anyone submitted a bug report for this?

I’m trying to tune it out but man it’s super annoying at this point. Otherwise, I’m having a blast with the game

It’s the curse of the “be first, fix later” culture of tech these days. I don’t work on game design, but I do work in tech and we’ve had some releases where our team that did testing/QA would go through the scenarios and then a few new bugs would pop up late in their testing that we had to go live with what we had and fixed them later unless they were major issues/security bugs. Most clients didn’t notice them but we had it fixed in our next release.

It wasn’t until I stepped into helping test some larger releases that I realized how easy it can be for certain things to fall through the cracks or just get found too late and not be important to hold a release cycle. I’d think in gaming they are playing games and looking for certain specific fixes and might miss some new bugs because they either weren’t looking for anything else or it impacted a place that they never looked.

It would be really nice if they'd get the cubs stance socks correct. They're only a year behind on this. SMH.

Hints at poor source control as this was in the game last year and fixed. It sounds like they didn't use the most recent code from 24 when building 25. This has happened before not only in the Show but Madden and other sports titles.

One thing I have a lot of confidence in is the team at SDS will get all this stuff introduced from 1.03 fixed.

Meantime I am playing and enjoying the game a ton and look forward to some of these little things getting fixed.

And bullpen logic......thank you thank you thank you.

                            Finally.

Begs the question why they don’t release a beta and let the community pick these bits up.

Sort of proves games a released as the beta version these days!

The bullpen logic finally being improved via patch makes me hope that somehow, someway, we get improved lineup logic too.

I know nothing they do will be 100% spot on as not every team manages the exact same way. In a perfect world we'd get different coaching personalities and that personality would inform lineup construction, think OOTP. But as it stands there is one logic all CPU teams will follow and as long as that's the case I'd hope for some tweaks.

The most obvious one - the CPU puts the best hitter at #3. While some teams still do this I believe probably 75-80% of the league has pivoted to their best guy hitting #2. Just fixing the priority to move the best guy to #2 would be a start. Still wouldn't help with Ohtani who hits leadoff in real life and the AI Dodgers will keep lowering him, but it's a start.

It does seem they pivoted away from needing a speed guy leadoff so that's nice. The Dodgers hit Freeman leadoff in the game. I'm not entirely sure what stat is being looked at - contact, discipline, eye etc but generally you want a high OBP guy there.

No earthly idea why the CPU Mets are still lowering Lindor to #6 even though he's now got an 95 OVR. He's been consistently lowered to 6th-7th in franchise every year since he became a Met.
