It’s more than 5-10 seconds. They have to do multiple takes and present scenarios in which they say the name. It takes a lot longer than you think.

No, I am talking about recording just the last name to add to the database of last name voice files. That does not involve any scenarios. The main statement with the name may involve scenarios and true that may take many takes but they are already doing that. My point is that if they are already recording such for the game just ALSO take a moment to record the last name by itself for the database as well. How many takes would be needed to just say the last name.

It is frustrating for users to hear the announcers refer to players names and find that they are not in the database.

That’s my point though, they say each name differently, even the ones added just for the CAP database. What they could potentially do to get around that is only say it for the player walk up/pitcher entrance so they just need one take that matches that sentence. But otherwise they have to repeat it in different tones to match other scenarios too, even if it’s just a first or last name.

Well adding just 88 names this year was pretty small. In other years they added many many more. I guess they had a lot more time or made the time.

I just do not believe SDS is serious about rebuilding back the database. Since my name was deleted I no longer play RTTS. I am sure I am not alone in this.

They also didn’t add two new PA announcers that year.

In 24 they added the minor league play by play announcer
