Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission

I find any starting pitcher mission for one pitcher is annoying. Going for the Pirates team epic and need to log 40 innings with Drabek which is easy enough to do in 5 games but it's just tedious and annoying quitting matches and loading up a new one until i get him.

I don't mind the whole random starter selection but I'd rather have it so each start is random but everyone in the rotation gets a start before someone else getting another start. I've had 40 attempts today to get Drabek and i got the same two starters in every match.

Haha that's always the case when you finish a mission.

What they should do is make it random only for ranked matches. For CPU and Conquest games we should be able to choose.

I'm finding Justin Upton's 5 homers pretty frustrating thanks to the new patch just destroying power with zone hitting. Anything I crush to centerfield barely makes it to even the track, while everything I pull seems to either be incredibly soft, along the ground or go foul. Hitting the ball hard, in the air and fair seems a real challenge now and it's very dull.

I'm playing the Padres on All Star with an all SS infield to grind out the assists and was hoping to get the homers done at the same time, but it aint happening. Got one so far and a just late one that should have been given yet they decided to say it went foul, even though it clearly didn't.

This game is honestly not very much fun anymore since the last patch. The hitting is worse than it was IMO. Everything is just a coinflip now, power swing, normal swing, doesn't matter. 90% of your hits will just be flyouts or hard grounders regardless of timing. Idk what the hell they did but it's almost like they just turned hit and homerun frequency down.

Figure it out SDS, the hitting before was too easy, but now it's just stupid? What's the point of even having zone hitting if you're not rewarded for squaring balls up.

So I should quit hitting with zone? Because last season I averaged 8 runs a game. And now thru 7 games I'm only averaging 2 while I just played a guy that hit 6 home runs, 4 of them were low and away and still hit them 400+ feet. And last three games I have 4 hits combined, I started 6-0 and like I said I was winning by getting 2-4 runs a game but I was making contact this morning. Now playing this evening it's like a whole new game I went from rank 764 down to 599 in three games.

Same thing has happened to me. Last two seasons I was a combined 63-18 and had no trouble making World Series. This season I'm 2-4. I can't get hits, can't hit home runs, can't score. Im not striking out or making poor contact, I'm just not being rewarded for my good swings.

The results of hitting seem totally random now. I'm getting good timing good PCI placement dinkers back to the pitcher, catcher pops, lazy flyouts, etc. I have no idea what SDS is doing. Like you said, it's like a totally different game now. Being more skilled than your opponent is no longer enough. This game is basically dead to me if it remains this way. As it stands, spending 45 minutes playing a ranked seasons game is just a big waste of time.

I'm right there with you tbh. I've done nothing but play the computer grinding out missions the last few days as I just don't want to play online with the game playing as it is, it feels entirely random and horribly dull. The 6 or so games I have played online have almost all been settled by BS bloop hits and errors late in the game, no skill at all.

Annoyingly I need another 9 righty wins and 40 IV striekouts to get a couple of Ballin is a Habit packs, I have plenty of time left to do them, but I just don't want to. Also got the Gonzo player epic pop up which needs 2 homers and 4 RBI's with left fielders to start, which would have been simple pre patch, probably only take half a dozen games with an all LF outfield and Holliday at 1st, but now, honestly I wouldn't back my power hitters to hit homers, yet alone me score 4 runs in general.

The main thing is, it's just not fun at all to play

I keep trying to tell myself that the game can't possibly be in this state permanently, and that maybe I'm just in a slump, I'm burnt out or something. I'll turn the game off, come back a day later and nothing's changed. I can't stand to play more than one game in a sitting anymore.

It's disappointing because I put a lot of time into this game and had a lot of fun playing it, but you're right; it's just not fun anymore.

I think they changed it because everyone complained that hitting was overpowered now they lower the hitting and everyone is complaining it's under powered. I'm not directing this to anyone in here I've just been on the show nation forums and that's what I noticed no matter what they do people complain.

Probably because they never actually try and fix anything properly. No one thought hitting was generally overpowered, they thought certain aspects of hitting were overpowered (late hits, going the other way with the ball on your hands for ridiculous power etc). I don't think anyone had any objection to how far balls went when they were squared up and well timed.

But SDS went for the easy route and just nerfed hitting across the board, making the well timed, squared up balls now incredibly underpowered and games being ruled by bloops and errors. So the exact problems are still there, but they added new ones on top. Biggest one being, the game now is dull

I'm not saying they didn't screw up the hitting I'm saying if everyone would not have been crying in the first place then we wouldn't be in the dead ball era right now

This thread has kind of been hijacked lol.

The problem with the current system is that it's penalizing quality players. People that aren't very good at the game probably don't care because it's giving them a chance to beat people that are way better than them.

To me, it seems like a sad attempt the "standardize" online play. It makes it so anyone can compete with anyone, which in my opinion is stupid. The reason people were complaint was probably because they were getting annihilated by good zone hitters. So now what we have is a system that makes it so nobody can really annihilate anyone, instead you just dink the ball around and whoever gets lucky 2 times instead of 1 time wins he game.

What sense does it make to have a H2H component where the winner is not determined by skill? Disappointing, it was fun while it lasted.

Yea I played a RS game today that went 14 innings and no matter how well the ball was hit out just died game ended 2-1 on base hit and an error I lost but was happy it was over.

It's bogus, and like I said we're not the only ones noticing. The idea that you're not allowed to win just because you're flat out better than someone is absurd.
