I was having the same issues with the McDowell mission for the CWS team epic missions. I ended up using a cheap but effective tactic. I played conquest and I'd make sure i don't score in the first inning , I'd then get the first two outs with my starter then brought in McDowell to get the final out before i score. If you're playing on rookie it's pretty easy to do. If you're playing vs cpu 9 innings bring him on in the 4th if you have a lead.

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
None of the missions really bothered me because you can play vs CPU but the "Use Griffey in ranked games" business pisses me off. They need to keep these kinds of missions out of ranked games. I want to field the team I want, not use a player that people are known to actively pitch around so you don't get your stats.Comment

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
I think my current lineup will cause problems for my soul
1. Robin Yount 74 9/10 hits
2. Omar Vizquel 70 0/5 runs
3. Ken Griffey Sr 78 0/3 doubles
4. George Springer 80 0/10 hits
5. Logan Morrison 76 0/1 homerun
6. Jason Giambi 73 0/2 walks
7. Dale Murphy 83 (No challenge needed here)
8. Adam Jones 73 0/5 putouts
9. Johnny Cueto 70 0/10 strikeouts
By the time I cycle through every single other team epic player challenge I have I'll likely still be 0/2 on Giambi's walks, and 1/3 on Griffey's doubles. Easy ones should be Adam Jones since he's at 1st and maybe Logan MorrisonComment

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
Finished Rick Porcello Gold starter mission finally. My gold card was a Breakout David Peralta.

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
right now im (kinda) trying to push trophies, while using an all rookie lineup to complete Chipper and using Breakout pitchers for Drabek. Wins and HRs are all i have left. I need the HR with Rookie Griff for the Diamond one and the other day i freaking hit the yellow on top of the wall and fell into play haha. sucks when u need a specific thing cuz u press and makes it much harder. I use Griffith park as my home which is 272 down RF but other then that its massive and that wall is huge. I've hit a couple legit inside the parkers tho cuz of how big CF isComment

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
At the moment the Kinsler epic mission (23 doubles with second baseman in conquest) is driving me insane. I've got 8 but it's taking me forever considering that i have 6 second basemen in my lineup. If it wasn't just for conquest it wouldn't be so bad because i could choose my stadium to grind in.Comment

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
I was using only breakout pitchers for the Drabek mission and i hated it. Thank goodness i finally completed the mission so that I can take out Catfish and use my normal rotation.
Also, im using 84 Griffey for that mission. Although 84 Griffey is a good card, I really want to finish it so that I can use my regular outfield.Last edited by ZB9; 05-14-2017, 10:37 AM.Comment

Just put a second baseman at every position but catcher and pinch hit for your pitcher every AB. Tigers and Rockies are the two teams I played on repeat for the doubles. It probably took me 3 hours or so once I had my lineup stacked up.
Make sure your second baseman have some power, but not too much so they won't hit a lot of homeruns. Most of my doubles were with Starlin Castro. It's one of those annoying challenges that you just gotta knock out.Comment

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
At the moment I'm concentrating on finishing the Rays team epic and i have to get 30 strikeouts with Garza but he rarely gets selected, if I'm playing vs cpu and keep quitting until he's selected will it affect anything other than the pitchers W/L ratio ?
I can get the 30 strikeouts with him in 2-3 games and i need to beat the Padres 3 times to advance to their next mission so I'm hoping i can hit them both out together.Comment

I have Vizquel and Rookie Dale Murphy that both need to score 5 runs but I havent started them yet. A few have said to just use them as a pinch runner for a guy on 3rd.Comment

How do you unlock that mission. I thought I read that you had to hit a double with a tigers second baseman but I did that and nothing unlocked. Is it just a random daily mission that pops up or something?

Re: Player you hate using but is tied to a mission
You can do it that way, or there's a way to "cheat" the system. What I'll do is when I need to K missions, I'll work on completing some other team epics, the initial 2 wins on rookie, for some random team. If I get the SP I want? Great! I win the lottery! But if I don't, there's a way to get them to get you 7 or 8 IP. When your pitcher comes up...pinch hit for them...with...the guy you want. Boom. Now...they'll have no stamina...but if youre against the CPU on Rookie, it doesn't matter. I can rack up 10 K's easy with a beat tired Nolasco or Garza against that.Comment
