Re: Showdown Thread
The weirdest thing about showdowns for me is how the second to last boss challenge thing is way harder than the actual final challenge. Its generally needing the same amount of runs, with half the amount of outs and a worse team. I also swear the pitch speed is cranked up higher.
Its just obvious they dont do a lot of testing with these modes, or put a whole lot of thought into them at all.Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
Yeah, I'm getting a bit better against him. I agree he throws it low a lot. I know that, but I just don't pick it up quick enough. He stalked me from 1st Inning to 2nd Inning. One of these days/moments/showdowns.......he's mine.Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
I'm done with this mode. For whatever reason when I get to the final boss I just can't treat each at bat like a normal at bat. No plate discipline at all, I keep thinking ah this is the pitch don't let it by, you want get another one.
It's the most efficient way for FOTF cards but the % at which I complete them makes them a waste of time.

Re: Showdown Thread
Don’t give up! Keep working on them and you’ll get better and better. Once you learn what players to target and how to set up for each mission and boss it will make it much easier. You’ll also learn to relax and be more patient the more times you do them.
Went 2-2 today with the AL Central Showdown beating both Greinke and Boyd FOTF. Had at least 10 outs remaining for both which is the best I’ve ever done. Like I said keep working and you’ll improve. Was able to get both the Twins and White Sox to 70 TA points.Comment

I can’t do them either. I got 6 FOTF Cards and working on a 7th. All done via MTO. I just play them on Veteran and get it done. Gets 52 points for completing it. You can get em done in 6 hours, I just break it up into a few days while playing other modes.
Wish I was good at the showdowns I’d have all 30 of them for how much I have been playing.Twitch

Re: Showdown Thread
I actually lost a couple yesterday as I ran into Jack Flaherty and needing 4 runs in 10 outs. If I was having the consistent results of those showdowns I wouldn't play much. I definitely see why some of you guys get frustrated.
The NL Central hitters you get aren't the best and I had a bad stretch of hitting the ball pretty well but the defenders making plays or it going right at people. Not much room for error with only 10 outs and needing 4 runs. The worst part is I failed at Flaherty once and then decided that I was just going to go straight to Hader from here on out. Next showdown I get to the Flaherty moment and accidentally jump into it and don't skip to Hader. I lost 3-3. That stung lolSOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Showdown Thread
This mode is def way more fun when you’re winning(like everything) haha. I seem to finally have turned the corner. After going 0-10 on Showdowns I’ve beaten 3 in a row.

Re: Showdown Thread
AL Central is by far the easiest. I know I keep harping on that one but it's true. Plus that one gives you the most possible stubs to be earned for some reason.
Beat it again this morning this time facing Kopech. He's actually nasty and it is his prospect card (87 ovr). Throws 102 lol. He's wild though so patience pays off. Definitely the hardest boss of the three (Greinke and Boyd). I went in down 15-13 though so wasn't too worried although it was hard to get hits against him. The walks are the reason I won.
I now have the White Sox, Royals, and Twins maxed out at 70 TA points. Once you start earning a lot of points for a team the rewards are quite nice with 40 giving you 3 packs, 50 giving you the TA player diamond, 60 giving you 4000 stubs, and 70 giving you 6 packs.Comment

Going against Flaherty as the 2nd boss is a risk. He's a diamond pitcher and like you said you only have 10 outs. Can be tough. I think you're better off skipping him and going to Hader. By the time you get to Flaherty you can have 9 runs if you win all the missions prior. If not as long as you have around 7 you can beat Hader since he is wild and his energy is gone after around 60 pitches which helps a lot.
Another tip is always draft players based off the final boss. Since Hader is a LHP go heavy with RH bats which doesn't help you against Flaherty. Another reason to skip him. The goal going in is to beat Hader not Flaherty.Comment

Brah I have 20 FOTF cards already and know what I'm doing. How dare you try to help out people by giving them tips on this forum. Don't you know who I am?SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Showdown Thread
I wish they gave you runs for the mini-boss too. I mean if you lose those you lose the whole Showdown. If you're going to give us runs that's probably the place to do it.
I think I've skipped the second boss almost every single time because the risk is so much higher than the reward.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
The way I just lost a showdown is exactly why I post negative **** all the time. First off Kopech's B.S. artificial confidence gets driven sky high because I line out a bunch. Because of that he starts dotting corners in a ridiculous manner. Managed to load the bases down 2 when I hit a ball off the wall, but thanks to this games great baserunning none of my players move despite me mashing L1, so I only score 1 run and one guy gets thrown out so now im down to my last out with men on 2nd and 3rd. Then theres a passed ball so I send my guy immediately, but the ball bounces off the wall 200 mph and bounces right back to the plate so I react quick and send him back, but thanks to the super cool animations where professional athletes run like newborn deer, I lose.Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
Breezed through Moments in the NL East and got to Degrom with 9 runs.
Proceeded to lose 15-14 because Good/Good with runners on was instant double plays, even on pitches up in the zone. Idk how Good/Good on fastballs up in the zone end up as double plays all the time but that's what happened. Multiple double plays on G/G and even G/S. Lineouts galore. Nothing like getting a Good/Weak on a fastball down the middle with a center swing, ball middle of the PCI.
It took all I had not to launch my ****ing controller. I've never played a video game that made me want to kill myself as much as this game.
Edit: For ****s and giggles I loaded up again, skipped to the Boss and hit with Directional.
Three Homeruns in my first round of batting. Still lost 15-9 but I put up 9 runs with directional with all kinds of random feedback after only scoring like 6 using zone and actually concentrating and getting good placements.
