Re: Showdown Thread
Lmao the first boss with Sutter almost made me jump out the ****ing window. Start with 2 runners on and get a ball dead center PCI that's a Good/Okay double play.
Ended up still beating it with 1 out left but not exactly my idea of a fun challenge. I can't buy stubs if I kill myself, SDS. Stop.
Wait is there only one mini boss in this? Alright I can handle that I guess but christ was it still frustrating as Hell.Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
Also wanna point out in those 3 inning games that, yes, it's still very annoying to have to pitch in these things when it's offense only. WHY. We aren't drafting good pitchers and we have nothing to accomplish with pitching. And no, that doesn't mean you should put pitching requirements in the moments to fail us for giving up runs or anything else. Just. Let. Us. Hit. It doesn't exactly jive with their "our game is so realistic" philosophy when I'm intentionally walking batters to set up double plays and not actually playing that side of the ball.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
**** this piece of **** game.
I need 5 runs and it doesn't matter where my ****ing PCI is I can't hit the ball out of the infield. Work walks and load the bases and DEAD CENTER PCI Good/Okay double play. Take 2 strikes because I have the diamond perk for contact boost with 2 strikes and GOOD OKAY.
Because Adonis ****ing Medina is a HoF pitcher.
jesus christ
Yep. Lost with 14 runs after starting with 10. EVERYTHING was a groundball. I had 1 out that was less than a 10 contact rating. We can all debate if that means anything but GOOD SQUARED groundballs on pitches down the middle.
It was pretty ****ing clear I wasn't being allowed to win this one from the beginning. Good/popped on fastballs DOWN THE MIDDLE and I'm center swinging.

Re: Showdown Thread
This mode is just bull****. I mean they made the Stage 2 ones so much easier that it's jarring playing and seeing how much the gameplay changes. I feel like I'm swinging cardboard under water. I'm just pounding the ball into the ground no matter what.
It's my fault for getting upset when we all know this is a circus mode. I set aside the morning to grind this **** and wasted all of that time going through the moments only to lose like that. No, I don't want participation trophies. But when you play this game so much you know when **** is different game to game and that just compounds the frustration. Like I got absolutely nothing out of the time I just spent. I didn't have fun. I didn't beat the boss and get the program points. I couldn't care less about the little bit of XP and stubs when the main goal of this is progress towards a boss.
I don't care that I'm being a little bitch about it. When I'm pounding the CPU on HoF and Legend with relative ease but I can't score 6 runs on All-Star in basically a 7 inning game it's just so annoying. If the game didn't play like **** it would be more enjoyable and I'd jump back in excited to play.
And really I shouldn't have to turn off a feedback system in the game to give myself a psychological edge or relief. Because even then it won't change the superhuman AI defense. The absolute paintjob by a ****ty pitcher with no stamina or confidence.
You know, all the stuff that doesn't happen for us as a player.
And just to prove my point I jumped back in and skipped to the end. With an absolute terrible ****ing team I put up 15 runs. I couldn't score 5 with a team I grinded all morning to improve but I put 15 by skipping with terrible players.
And I still ****ing lost because I watched the guy throw balls to the backstop and then get strikes called that barely clip the zone that are always called balls when I pitch. And then I lined out with the bases loaded literally needing 1 run to score on a ball torched right at someone.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
Tried again by skipping and got Kyle Wright. This Showdown is absolutely worse and more slider-adjusted than the last 2 inning programs. I didn't fail those a single time and this is the third failure.
On top of Kyle Wright having a super ****ed up timing window, where I'm late on a 93 mph fastball but early on a 95 in the same spot, this final boss is just horse ****.
I drew 8 walks. I worked Wright for 139 pitches and he wasn't in the red until the last couple outs. I had his confidence to absolute zero after hitting a 3-Run bomb.
More walks. Double plays on 13's and 14's. Perfect/Perfect out. Again, I know we debate the validity of the PCI contact stuff post-game but I only had 1 ball I put in play for an out below a 10. Struck out looking twice in full-counts where the magical paintjob came from no where which is whatever. I know that's gonna happen. But for having no confidence the guy sure seemed to uncork perfect pitches anytime it was convenient.
8 walks and 8 hits. 139 pitches and I only put up 10 runs. And my hard hit outs weren't with the scrubs I ended up with either. Most were from the big bats I did have.
I get this is tied to program points but how they go from the initial showdowns to the 2nd stage (as if they understood how unfun they were) right back to making it absolutely miserable.
Like, I need to beat the CPU on HoF or Legend just to make myself feel better for constantly failing on All-Star. That's a little backwards.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
I guess SDS heard us talking about how the Stage 2 showdowns were easy. Now there's a mini boss that you can get where you face the 99 Kluber on All Star. If that has more than a 25% universal success rate I'll be shocked.Comment

Lost to him earlier today. Thought about skipping but said **** it because I wanted the xp and just hit a bunch of good/good or good/okay (for no reason) double play balls.Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
It feels impossible to square anything up with him. Even if you do get the PCI on the ball it probably isn't going very far.Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
So they definitely played with the sliders or something on the back end of these. First few days these stage 2 showdowns were so easy. Never lost a moment, felt like I could beat them in my sleep.
Now all of a sudden im losing every other moment and boss battle, not because its hard, but because the game isnt letting me hit the ball. At least the stage 1 ones I lost because I lost, not because 10 of my 12 outs were hit right at people.
I just hit a good/squared up inside fastball 76 mph with Soler who has like 88 power or something. What the **** is that?
Why cant I just have one sports game that rewards me for good input and punishes me for bad. Why is that such a foreign concept?Comment

Re: Showdown Thread
Did my first run on the 3rd inning showdown last night. Skipped the last 2 missions and went in down 15-9. Kyle Wright got 5 quick outs and I thought well this has been fun. Then reeled off 6 straight runs to tie it at 15 and walked it off with 12 outs to go.
I only hit 2 home runs the whole run. My draft was not particularly good either. I did get to use the new Chipper but did absolutely nothing with him. Jay Bruce on the other hand carried me through the moments and had the walk off hit in the final showdown.
