IMO the changeup is horrible this year. For some reason their is an excessively big timing window where early = HR. Maybe it's just me.
They were terrible last year too. I really don't think pitching is that much worse than last year, honestly. At least as a first time player last year and not having any experience one way or the other. Changeups were the most likely pitch to float last year even when hitting perfect on the meter. I almost never used it eventually which sucks because it's such an important pitch in baseball. But in this game it basically just gets served up on a tee for everyone to blast.

The way pitching performs in this game causes so much undue anxiety that I can't believe the most important function of the game feels so pointless. But we have to keep in mind that they are more than aware of how OP and unrealistic the high sinker is because they brag about cards having sinkers like it's supposed to be a big deal. They give pitchers a sinker just to make them meta even when they don't throw them in real life. Aroldis Chapman does not throw a sinker. He doesn't even really throw a 2-seam. I checked his baseball-savant page after seeing him with a sinker and a 2-seamer in this game and he had such a low % of "2-seam" fastballs it was hilarious. Realistically it was probably just a 4-seamer he got some crazy run on that registered as a 2-seam. There wasn't a single sinker recorded all year last year.

So they lean into a broken mechanic because their engine doesn't represent sinkers accurately. Make it meta and one of those douche-bro talking points for content creators to talk about. But then one of the most important pitches in baseball, the changeup, is literally useless and might as well not even be in a pitch-mix.

Again, as a first-time player last year I couldn't believe how poorly the game played online. It feels like absolute dog**** being beaten on weak contact against people who you were clearly playing better than. I've said a million times I would LOVE to just jump into a HoF queue or even Legend and if I get spanked then GREAT. Let me get better at the ****ing game. I'll take my lumps and adjust and get better. Or I won't and I'll keep losing. But let me play on the ******* difficulty with the pitch speeds and PCI I want.

Instead of being subjected to lower difficulties that I simply do not enjoy.

There are people who want to play on AS or Veteran. LET THEM. There are people who want the higher difficulties where input matters more. LET THEM.

quit making me cry sds i hate baseball and YOU you're not my real dad

The other thing with the changeup is, more than anything except maybe curveballs, it's much more likely to get sucked into a dangerous location regardless of aim or release timing. I feel like most of my soul-crushing homers have come off good/perfect release changeups down and away that teleport into knee high meatballs. It's similar to how perfect fastballs on the black got forced down the middle last year.

Pitching is hilarious...if you have 2 strikes on a guy and you throw a ball out of the zone and hit the meter...he fouls it off....up to 12 times....throw a pitch out of the zone and miss late by a bit....and they strike out....

Honestly I'm having way less fun with the game this year than last. I actually like the ideas they have come up with, but the game just feels so broken to me. There's always something off in each game. A bad animation.... Ball not getting caught at the wall. The HR glitch that's still there even though they said they fixed it.

I really don't think I'm even going to end up completing inning 3 and I sure won't be playing this all the way until the next one like I did with 19. And online.... Blech so much cheese and the timing windows make no sense to me. I have felt lost hitting all season. There was one day where I thought I figured it out and the next day totally lost again. I did not have this problem last year.

It's a weird year with the whole virus thing so I'm not even really upset with anyone, just disappointed. Oh well there's Mega coming out in a couple of weeks and I have metric ton of other games I can play. My wife may leave me if I continue to play as I just keep on screaming at the PS4. So ya happy wife happy life... Or something.

I hope SDS reads these kind of threads. And takes some feedback or action.

Didn't play at all today and it was bliss. I'm sure I'll five in again at some point this week but man it's hard to love the game this year. I mean hell of I don't even collect a boss this inning I don't feel behind. Everyone on my team is better anyway.

My observations are similar to last year.

Patience is never rewarded in this game and that drives me nuts. Driving up a good hitters count and squaring up fat pitches result in way too many easy soft outs. Meanwhile a free swinger can somehow launch a bomb over the wall on okay contact on a sinker in the dirt. Hitting and pitching just seem to random at times regardless of timing, contact, and meter

I can’t stand moments and showdown. They just aren’t fun to me. If you don’t have a lot of time to sink into the game you can easily waste 2 hours without accomplishing a lot.

Not enough offline content. I miss the stat grinds to unlock things and it gave me a reason to play offline.

I just play moments to get done w/ them. i dont care about the rewards. i wish they had some way to choose the difficulty for moments. for someone like me who wants to do them fast just let me play on vet or rookie and reward me something less than others who play on higher difficulties.

They had that cubs/babe ruth/griff jr moments last year which was great. they were like doing the entire 2016 cubs season in 20 moments. i haven't finished but wish they did more of that this year.

I keep saying thats the one thing I would take from Madden. Madden gives u three levels for each challenge and it varies the rewards you get. Some of us are great at pitching, others hitting

I honestly think they need to move away from pitch speeds being connected to difficulty at all. I know so many people that want a baseball game, but, won't play this because it is just too hard.

You basically have to have a certain set up to even have a chance at the higher pitch speeds....still doesn't work for me. I can guess and swing immediately even on rookie at times and I am too late to hit the ball.....that is nuts.

Maybe I should be happy about terrible design decisions...if I could actually see the ball all the time and the game ran well I might never stop playing.....

The matchmaking is horrible. I'm a mid level bronze and I get matched up vs golds most of the time.

It doesn’t go by XP level.

It is still horrible though. All the do is look at the current season ranking. So early in the season you will mashed to death if you aren't very good. There should be something that tracks a overall value/rank. This is something most games struggle with too though.
