The matchmaking is horrible. I'm a mid level bronze and I get matched up vs golds most of the time.

It’s hard to come up with a perfect system. I got matched against a guy that’s level 95 Diamond already. I don’t know how that’s possible even under quarantine lol.

I think it’s disappointing that every team including mine is all diamonds already. It’s only early May and I’m content with my team and have little incentive to improve it.

its frustrating. the times i've tried the opponent has legendary diamonds stacked. i have mostly silvers and golds now. I also learned from watching some twitch videos those guys w/ all the diamonds freeze the matchmaking red bar to the lowest. I didnt even know you could do that. I wonder if that's a way to get opponents who have teams with bronze/silver rated players? if so that's a big flaw in matchmaking.

I'm at 39 diamond and haven't even played that much this week. If you play showdown a lot you just fly through the levels. We were well through halfway through the season before I got that high last year.

Just press the left thumbstick left when its searching and it will stop your bar. It just limits it to matching closer to your current rank doesn't match you up with far lower ranked players.

Matchmaking really should take XP into consideration. I've seen guys on Reddit and The Show Nation talk about intentionally dropping down into the lower levels in RS so they can annihilate casual/mediocre players. I suspect a lot of the high golds/diamond XPs you meet between 300-600 are doing that.


The current matchmaking system just doesn't address stuff like that. They need more leagues or more variables.

Matchmaking should be 100% based on skill level. We should be matched up with similar skilled players for the best experience. Like every other video game created in the last 20 years.

XP level shouldn't be anything more than a badge of honor for how long or how much someone played.

But until they give us multiple playlists we can queue in it won't matter. It's all part of the RS formula that forces people into it for all the reasons we've discussed before.

I still think it's bonkers in 2020 that a "competitive" game is using P2P with no queueable playlists with skill based matchmaking.

I'm prestige 20 and haven't touched HR derby or retro mode once. It's actually not hard at all if this game is the only one you play and do so nightly.

Unfortunately I believe this game plays nearly identical to how they want it to play. For whatever reason, they think this game needs to be a glitchy broken mess to keep people funneling money into packs and stubs.

Im about to be silver and bought the game, in April... And I'm not very good. Got alot of xp from collections and conquest

Have you played any sports game since these card collecting modes have been put in? Theyve all gotten incredibly more random/worse, this game most of all. Pitching used to work correctly/accurately. Well hit balls used to be hits. My fielders used to catch balls.

Guys...this game has really good matchmaking. I'm comparing it to MUT which I believe has terrible MM. In MUT I would be on a high rank tier and often get matched up with a bad player in their playoffs. So basically I ruin everything they just worked for.

The ranked seasons MM on this game is ideal IMO. Are you going to have some games where you're completely outmatched? Sure. It took me 38 games to get to world series season 1 so the long climb to this place meant I played a lot of guys who probably never get to WS. Then you take into account not many people are even playing online because there is a good amount of content offline. So you probably end up playing more confident guys online who are decent.

I've noticed this in events. Like I'm rarely facing guys with bad RS records. Maybe 10% of the games I play are people with sub-.500 records. More often then not I'm playing really solid guys.

Maybe. I mean even in overwatch top players used alt accounts to play in gold. But I feel like there would be a higher percentage of happier players this way. I can guarantee some of the Show creators would do videos where they play in lower difficulties to smash people. Every game is like that. But I don't think we necessarily have to go so extreme in the opposite direction.

Make us do placement games. We do them and get a true skill ranking. If you're going to play the game seriously you would have to try and win those games. That way when you play on your difficulty you'll get matched with similar players.

For people that aren't as skilled, at least they would be able to play with similar players. A system like this would minimize the ease with which trolls could get into lower levels.

I just think there's a lot of room for improvement here. The generic dwelling on lower difficulties thing makes me not want to play RS. If they just maximized our time in the game I think it would be better for everyone.
