    P.S. I'll bring you back a Sony t-shirt!
Love T-Shirts. (I'm a XL BTW) As for SCEA, from what I've seen it's more than being committed to putting out a great product. The developers love baseball & for me that's probably the most important piece.

If you notice I am hanging out on this side of town a little more than usual. Reason being is The Show is on my radar big-time this year.

Every new MLB the show version on the PS3 i am sure will look a little better then the last one. But I think you are going to have to wait for "Playstation 4" until you will see graphics that will blow the older versions out of the water!

I happen to think the game looks great so far from what I have seen!

As long as Sony keeps adding all the "little details" and keeps making the gameplay better and fixes all the bugs I will be very happy!

Does MLB the show PS3 graphics blow me away.No not by a long shot. but I do think its a very very nice looking game!

I agree with you. The screens and graphic look great to me.

I havent seen the leaked video yet but I believe what you say hearing everyone's reaction when they saw the video.

Can't wait to see some videos myself of this game in action.

Look I don't want to turn this thread into a system flame war. I was pointing out something I saw which irks the crap out of me. Not sure why people are getting all bent out of shape about it.
For the most part, that is due to the developer, not the hardware. 2K is probably one of the worst when it comes to discrepancies between their offerings across platforms. Other developers do better (Ubisoft), some you can't see a difference at all (Capcom). Anyway, like you said this isn't a thread about hardware, or any other developers for that matter.

I have faith in SCEA, as I know they wont be taking any steps backwards, and if they stayed at 08 levels graphically I would be fine. Screens have never done this game justice, and considering the textures of bushes/vegetation that is in the background was mentioned...that is something that you cannot/will not see in motion. Comparing those "still" textures to last year's screens, I can see improvements; same with the lighting on them.

Nothing wrong with striving for and demanding perfection tho, and I know no one is doing anything just to cause SCEA grief, but to make sure the final product is as perfect as possible.

is this thread about the screenshots anymore?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                        Details & Subtleties
Details and subtleties play a huge role in legitimizing a game and helping you lose yourself in the suspension of disbelief. MLB 09 The Show sinks it’s teeth into the details with realistic stadiums and signage, wear and tear on field, dusk to night lighting transitions, stadium Jumbotron animations and even crowd atmosphere – reaching up for foul balls out of play and home runs in addition to crowd rivalries and weather appropriate clothing.

All I am hearing about is dusk to night lighting transitions. Will there also be Day to Dusk lighting transitions? I also really think they should have an option to use the system clock for realtime lighting transitions

So what if the Cubs logo on the legs is alittle big, I can give a crap. I want video of gameplay and if it looks bad or plays bad then you can bash it. But don't bash the game over 8 screen shots give me a break.
Sometimes it's not bashing. SCEA possibly considers us their favorite public online community, and the more things we point out (the earlier), the better chance we have things get fixed before release.

Again, it could be nitpicking. Hell, it could be the smallest of things (people always use the "sock color" sarcasm as a reference). But the thing is, if it isn't brought up, it won't ever be addressed, and these small things will be the things to keep this game from perfection.

It may not be a big thing to do (or me, as I hate the Cubs), but as a Giants fan I have always been disappointed that no baseball game in the world has ever gotten right field correct. Behind the high wall isn't just a small strip of walking space... down the line, it is three rows of bleachers, then standing room, then about a 20 foot wide walking space. Below that is a port walk which is about 30 feet wide, then McCovey Cove. All of that, plus the wind knocking the ball down, are huge determining factors in a ball reaching the water. Ask all of the lefties in the home run derby last year about hitting one in the Cove and how easy it was. Not one of them did it all day. Yet, in this game and other games, a home run to right field is almost guaranteed to soar over everything and touch down on the water. I wish they just corrected it so it wasn't so damn easy.

There's a thread in the 2K Baseball sub-forum asking what is the thing one looks for in a baseball game, and here was my reply:

I don't really know what the first thing is that I look for, but I'll tell you one thing, and it's that I unfortunately won't give the gameplay a chance if it lacks authenticity. And I don't even mean the beauty of the game... I just mean that they're nailing the MLB aspect of the game correctly. Player looks and stances, stadium features, television-like broadcast and announcing, etc. I don't know why, but I really love to play a game where I'm immersed in its authentic feel.
The "nitpicking" people may respond exactly the same as I did. The people talking about the Cubs logo want to feel like they are the Cubs, at Wrigley Field, hitting with Zambrano (or what have you). That's why we try and get these stadium things addressed as well. I recall somebody asking for a simple rim change in the NBA 2K series a few years back (forgot if it was size or color), and he was thrown around like a rag doll. Why? It should literally take no time for the artists, and once it's corrected, the game is that much more authentic.

It's reasonable for these "complaints" to happen. That's why we spend our time changing attributes, batting stances, walk-up music, and accessories post-release. We want to feel like we are playing exactly what the MLB represents. If you can't accept that, well, I have a feeling that the time you take to defend your side with your posts, they could get the appendage on the Cubs' pants properly sized.

                            lol...simmer down.

I can understand people saying it's nitpicking looking at backround textures, but a players uniform is important to most of us. It's not like anyone was blasting off on SCEA or anything.

Uniform inaccuracy is a common problem in sports games that would likely never get fixed unless someone points it out. They also pointed out the bill on the helmet was incorrect also. Trust me, if I saw Red Sox pics with incorrect uniforms, I would post that here in a heartbeat, PM all the community leaders, and flood Kolbe with PMs too. I'd want it fixed if I'm looking at it all year.

BTW, you'd probably be better served just putting forth your point in an adult manner yourself, rather than kicking things off with an immediate insult to anyone who didn't praise the pics with undying love. Just a thought

Like it has been said, "not to start a console debate here,"...but here is a comment comparing platforms anyway.

Seriously, this will be the last statement I'll make on the topic:

I would say that games produced primarily for the 360 (larger install base) and either ported to the PS3 or given less production time spent on tuning the assets for the PS3 will look better on the 360.

But, the fact of the matter is that the PS3 is a more powerful computing/graphics platform. If you are a tech guy, just look at the numbers.
