    Hitters

    Stephen Drew, SS
    Song: "Swing" by Trace Adkins
Drew: "At one point I didn't even come out to any music. For me, I don't really care about it. The other guys were saying they wanted me to have a song, so that's how it works for me. It's country and I like country music, so it's not too bad. I'm a low-key guy. I just go out and play every day and just have fun with the guys."
Critic commentary: "Adkins, a self-described 'free-thinking roughneck' who was once shot in the chest by an ex-wife, equates taking a swing to wooing a lady in a nightclub in this hilariously trite ditty. He belts out such gems as, 'Everybody strikes out nine times out of 10 / But you've gotta step up to the plate, because every now and then...' It's worked for Drew, though, as the young shortstop is hitting nearly 40 points higher this year than last." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

Orlando Hudson, 2B (Hes a Free Agent Currently)
Song: "Be Easy" by T.I.; "Down With the King" by Run DMC; "Tuck Ya Ice" by Trick Daddy; "I Run This" by Birdman
Hudson: "All those songs make you feel good. It gets your mind right. It kind of pumps you up. That's why we come out to those songs. It gets you going and makes you feel good when you're coming up to the plate."
Critic commentary: "TI claims to be 'outta your range' in 'Be Easy,' which just about sums up the lunging, Gold Glove-winning style of Arizona's 'O-Dawg,' who will make a play for a ball way out of most other second basemen's reaches. Apparently he's also reaching for legendary status, too. Why else would a relatively new-school kat like Hudson be down with Run-DMC?" --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

    Conor Jackson, LF
Song: "Say Yeah" by Wiz Khalifa
Jackson: "I just like the beat. There's no particular reason. I just heard it and liked it. It's got a little techno beat in it, too. That's how I roll."
Critic commentary: "Isn't this the dude who blew off a cycle earlier this season, ending up with two triples instead of the double he needed? Either he's not a glory hound or he just wants to win. Either way, he's got good taste to go with his good game: Wiz Khalifa's the bomb." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

    Chad Tracy, 1B
Songs: "These Are My People" by Rodney Atkins
Tracy: "I like it. It's got a good chorus to it. It kind of plays along with, 'these are my fans.' I've been here five years now. The song goes, 'It's not always pretty, but it's real.' I guess you could read into it. It's not always pretty, but you get the job done and find a way to win. It just gives you a good feeling. It's one of those feel-good songs, for me at least."
Critic commentary: "'Ain't always pretty but it's real...' Or so goes the lyric in the country ditty that accompanies this North Carolina native to the plate. Appropriate, right? He doesn't have the prettiest game in the league -- too many strikeouts, and a bunch of errors a coupla seasons back -- but Tracy keeps the Diamondback fans happy." --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

    Mark Reynolds, 3B
Song: "Island in the Sun" by Weezer
Reynolds: "If you're not feeling good with one song, you switch it up to another, but honestly, I don't even hear it when I come up to the plate."
Critic commentary: "Possibly hoping to lull opposing pitchers into complacency, the hot-hitting Reynolds steps up to bat to the lilting pop of one of Weezer's most popular songs. It seems like more of an introspective pick than anything else, and clearly it gets Reynolds in the right frame of mind to swing away." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

    Justin Upton, RF
Song: "The Hand Clap" by Hurricane Chris; "Dey Know" by Shawty Lo; "Get Like Me" by David Banner; "Make Way" by Birdman
Upton: "I like the songs. They make me feel good when I come up to the plate. I mean, I like listening to music and those are just some good songs. I always listen to rap on the way to the ballpark, but it depends. Sometimes I mix it up a little bit."
Critic commentary: "The light-hitting Upton, out since July 9 with a strained oblique, has subscribed to his teammate's strategy of making ears bleed at Chase Field. 'The Hand Clap' is the pick of this litter, as Hurricane Chris solicits applause and asks you to clap for him 'like it's some sort of disease.' Indeed." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

    Chris Young, CF
Song: "Get Silly" by V.I.C.; "Umma Do Me" by Rocko; "A Millie" by Lil Wayne; "Life of the Party" by Snoop Dogg
Young: "It just makes you feel good when you come up to the plate. It's whatever floats your boat to get you in the flow. Obviously the game is going to give you a lot of it, but you like to feel good when you walk up to the plate. Everybody picks their style of music that they like to listen to when they're trying to have a good time. Tracy comes out to country and Stevie comes out to country, me and O come out to hip-hop and who knows what C.J. comes out to. It's different for everybody, but normally it's something that you listen to on a regular basis. It's going to be the same music that I listen to when I'm driving to the ballpark."
Critic commentary: "Unable to settle on one track to show off his atrocious taste in hip-hop, Young has opted for a quadruple dip. 'Life of the Party' wins out because it's the only one that doesn't induce some sort of uncontrollable, ear-splitting twitch." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

    Chris Snyder, C
Song: "Bleed It Out" by Linkin Park
Snyder: "I like the song. It's a good song. There are a couple good parts in it. There's nothing sentimental about it. I just like the song. I'm a music fan. I don't really have a certain genre. I just like good music and that's a good song."
Critic commentary: "This dude must be extra tough, considering the horrific nature of his recent injury to an extra-sensitive area -- I didn't even know fractures there were possible -- that put him on the DL earlier this season. Or is it the thrashing metal-rap of Linkin Park that provides all the energy?" --Scott Poulson-Bryant, Author, veteran music journalist and baseball nut

By Doug Miller and Brandon Harris / MLB.com

The Cincinnati Reds play in one of the smaller and cozier stadiums in baseball, a place where you can comfortably see the diamond from every seat, watch homers fly out of the yard at alarming rates, and hear the loud music that announces the Reds' hitters as they stride to the plate.

MLB.com/Entertainment has been getting to the bottom of the Major League tradition of walk-up music all season long by going from clubhouse to clubhouse and soliciting cutting-edge commentary from the players, the organizational brass, and some of the best music critics in the business. Song choices will change over the course of the 2008 campaign for various -- and often superstitious -- reasons, but rest assured that we'll feature the songs straight from the players' plate play lists at press time.

          Here are the Reds' tunes:

          Hitters

          Jeff Keppinger, SS
Song: "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by AC/DC
Keppinger: "I have no idea. It's just whatever they've thrown up there. I didn't choose it."
Critic commentary: "Given this shortstop's batting average vs. the amount he's getting paid relative to, say, Miguel Tejada, I'd say yes, this song works."--Whitney Pastorek, Senior Writer, Entertainment Weekly

          Brandon Phillips, 2B
Songs: "Snap and Roll" by Soulja Boy; "Get Silly" by V.I.C. featuring Soulja Boy; "The Boss" by Rick Ross featuring T-Pain; "Umma Do Me" by Rocko; "Let Me Get 'Em" by Soulja Boy; "Crank Dat Batman" by Pop It Off Boyz
Phillips: "The songs that I have, they're songs that get me motivated and give me energy to go up there and hit. And there are others that describe me as a person. I like 'Get Silly' because I'm a silly person. I like 'The Boss' because I feel like I'm the boss, like I'm the man. Sometimes you have to feel like that. I like 'Umma Do Me' because I feel like I've got to do what I've got to do to help the team. I like playing songs that describe me as a person. Some songs that describe me as a person also motivate me to get things done."
Critic commentary: "Look, Brandon, we get it: With the exception of the Rick Ross ditty, you like the sort of non-melodic crunk-hop songs featuring irritating repeated catch phrases that tend to be featured in those late-night commercials encouraging you to text a random number to some other random number to get a free ringtone. I can only suggest getting more sleep."--Whitney Pastorek, Senior Writer, Entertainment Weekly

          Joey Votto, 1B
Song: "Black Betty" by Ram Jam
Votto: "I didn't choose it. They just gave it to me. To be honest, when I'm going up to bat, I don't hear a single thing. I'm just concentrating on hitting."
Critic commentary: "Is that Freedom Rock, man? Well, turn it up, man! The Toronto-born Votto swings for the fence on this one. One-hit wonder? Check. Ridiculous band name? Check. Unapologetic and proud Southern rock? You betcha." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

          Edwin Encarnacion, 3B
Song: "Alo" by Los Hermanos Rosario
Critic commentary: "Nice horns, solid rhythms, excellent Dominican flavor equals another one of those generic salsa/merengue numbers that are perfect for a hot summer afternoon at the ballpark. You know, ballparks should really serve more umbrella drinks in general." --Whitney Pastorek, Senior Writer, Entertainment Weekly

          Jay Bruce, RF
Song: "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath; "Don't Bring Me Down" by Electric Light Orchestra
          Bruce:: "I didn't pick those. I haven't picked any, so I don't really care."
Critic commentary: "Yes, yes, 'Iron Man,' you are one, I am dozing off, and then -- A-WOO-hoo, what's this?? Jay Bruce, kudos to you for the first truly wonderful and unexpected batting music I've been asked to judge in this 2008 season. It's harmonic and catchy, it's family-friendly, and most of all, it's fresher than a day-old kitten. Well done, sir!" --Whitney Pastorek, Senior Writer, Entertainment Weekly

          Jerry Hairston Jr., IF/OF
Songs: "Kiss Kiss" by Chris Brown featuring T-Pain; "Top Down" by Swizz Beatz
Hairston: "I've got the best songs out of anybody. They're just a couple songs I like. There's no reason. I needed to pick songs, and at the time, those were the songs I liked."
Critic commentary: "Hairston looks to get his swerve on with two club hits. The first features Brown and T-Pain laying down the burden of having too many girls to choose from. On the second, super-producer Swizz Beatz tries to fend off the haters by riding with his top down. Owning a convertible never seemed so vital." --Jim Welte, freelance music writer

Thanks much Sky - What about Ronan Tynan's version of god bless America? - Also, the guy working on the yankees home run sound - the original one is the best, from the 80's - like when Mell Hall would homer, its a long Siren that turns into westminster chimes - That orginal, I would kill for if someone can find it, make it, Id be happy that in pig in.. well, u know

Kept Andruw Jones (Who just signed with the Rangers), but took out Nomar (FA), and Kent (retired)

So here's the best of Chavez Ravine, new and old:

                    Lineup

                    1. Rafael Furcal, SS
Song: "Los Venganza de los Pelados" by Los Lobos
Critic commentary: "Opposing teams should definitely be scared of any leadoff hitter who comes to the plate with that kind of look in his eye, backed by a song whose title begins with 'The Revenge.'" --Kenny Herzog, Editor-in-Chief, CMJ New Music Monthly

                    2. Russell Martin, C
Songs: "Touch the Sky" by Kanye West (alternate: "I Can't Drive 55" by Sammy Hagar)
Martin: "I like a wide variety of music, but 'Touch the Sky' is probably one of my favorites just because the beginning of the song gets me amped a little bit and gets me ready to go. When it comes on (at the stadium), I hear it and it gives me a good feeling. Every time I hear it off the field, it makes me think of when I go hit."
Critic commentary: "Presumably, the once unstoppably productive catcher is hoping this Kanye cut will catalyze his ability to hit more balls toward the far reaches of Dodger Stadium." --Kenny Herzog, Editor-in-Chief, CMJ New Music Monthly

                    3. Matt Kemp, RF
Songs: "The Boss" by Rick Ross and "Umma Do Me" by Rocko
Kemp: "Your walk-up music is everything to you. It's your at-bat, man. It gets you ready. It gets you going, and they gotta play it loud so you can feel it and get hyped. Get hyped, boy ... it is what it is. When a new song comes out, I usually think if that would be a good walk-up song. That is how I did it in the past: 'That would be a tight walk-up song.' It always changes."
Critic commentary: "If Rick Ross is the new Biggie, does that make Matt Kemp the new Mike Marshall?" --Saul Austerlitz, freelance critic for Boston Globe and other publications

                    5. James Loney, 1B
Song: "Still Will" by 50 Cent featuring Akon
Loney: "I just like the beat. It kind of gets the crowd into it and livens up the game."
Critic commentary: "The skittering, ADD beat seems to say, 'called third strike,' but the muted, gliding horns say 'base-knock to left.'" --Saul Austerlitz, freelance critic for Boston Globe and other publications

                    6. Andruw Jones, CF
Song: "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley and the Wailers
Critic commentary: "'Don't worry about a thing, 'cause everything's gonna be alright,' is the perfect positive message for a guy with a 50-homer season in his resume. The Caribbean roots he shares with Bob don't hurt, either." --Jennifer "J-Dog" Odell, Editor, BobMarley.com

                    8. Andre Ethier, OF
Song: "Still D.R.E." by Dr. Dre
Ethier: "I've had times where maybe you're not all the way locked in and pumped up for that at-bat, and you hear the music playing and you get that good feeling back. It's one of those associations where you've had success with familiar themes in a song or a similar situation and you might not be feeling so well and you hear that again and it might bring those positive thoughts back into your mind. It gets your blood flowing and that association."
Critic commentary: "You'd think he'd choose a song by the Canadian indie rocker who shares his name (and even sang the National Anthem at Dodger Stadium last year), but alas, if Dre's latter-day classic gives Ethier a 'chronic' propensity for reaching base, who are we to quibble?" --Kenny Herzog, Editor-in-Chief, CMJ New Music Monthly

                    9. Juan Pierre, OF
Song: "My Struggle" by Lil Boosie
Critic commentary: "The chorus goes, 'You don't know my struggle, so you can't feel my hustle,' but every Dodgers fan already knows Pierre's base-stealing hustle." --Saul Austerlitz, freelance critic for Boston Globe and other publications

More to come....... Hope this helps!! Again as of end of 08 season.

FYI, I checked out the white sox section, and its only Anderson and Jenks, and then there are like 7-8 Indians players in the Sox folder.

I've got Kate Smith;s version. Any other version of stuff I would find them and post it here as there's so many teams yet to get I want to focus of those. There's many versions of everything and don't have time to grab them all. There's probably player music that has changed etc.. that people some people will catch and post about. Once we get the base done then we can go back and make changes etc..
I would suggest any extra stuff (because lots of people want their own versions they like) people grab what they want and post it here then later we can upload them.
                            Thanks man!
