Another thing is that I can see what pitch the cather is asking me to throw but it seems that he is always asking for it low in the zone, even when it is a high ball. You can't tell the difference in the zones with the catcher's signs.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I did notice something that frustrated me. With 2 outs and a guy on first they hit a slow chopper. When I fielded it I wanted to throw the guy out at 2nd to see how it's changed. He took his time and tossed the ball under hand. Both runners were safe. The reason I was bothered by this was because everyone at the Community Day event said this has been changed. Can anyone let me know?Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Up - Impressions
My take on it is that after he displays the pitch he wants, he'll then ask for location and when I played it was palm down for low and palm up for high. I haven't noticed that in the game as it seems he's always calling for the pitch down in the zone. After that, he'll indicated whether it should be inside or outside, by gesturing his hand towards that particular side.
I hope that made sense Tater.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Played one game as Phillies in All star and won it 0-2 (2-5 hits).
- In the second inning, got an empty bases HR with Victorino when i waited patiently to get 3-1 ahead in the count and hit hard a low ball. Used X to hit, not power hit.
- In the third inning got another empty bases HR with Howard, again using X to hit.
- I got hit by pitch once, was a nice animation.
I love the graphics and animations, need to play more games to see if i just were lucky with those 2 HR or if i'll need to move to HOF level.Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
man , this is gonna be a great season!
just played an 8inn game batting for both teams, look what i got:
Rays: 0R 2H 1E
Phillies: 1R 1H 0E
Kazmir: 7.2inn 1H 0ER 3BB 8K
Hamels: 8inn 2H 0ER 4BB 7K
Thats using contact, timing and solid hits sliders at 0, power at 3 cause on default i was hitting HR bombs in every squared ball i had. (all those on LEGEND level btw)
finnaly i have a chalange getting hits!! gonna have to focus and put some effort now, no more cheap singles!Last edited by brunnoce; 02-06-2009, 11:29 AM.---------------

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Ok this is a GREAT game. A few things I have noticed.
1. When Ryan Howard does his pre pitch swing his animation still hickups when going to his stance.
2. When a ball is ground to Howard with no men on base, Howard still goes to his throw stance instaed of fielding the ball and just running at first, you have to move the right stick to get out of the throw animation. Anyone still see this?Comment

not trying to sound like a smartass but have you looked through the Strategy Guide thats in the game? I haven't looked through it myself, but was thinking that maybe it might give the detailed answer in there.

I hope that made sense Tater.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
These comments are directed at Sony.
Played about 5 games so far.
Overall nice improvement over 08.
I "HATE" the checking system in this game!! I thought it was pretty bad in 08 but it got way worse in 09
It is so hard now to check swing. I had one game where all I was trying to do was check swing to test it out and almost every time the batter just swings through the ball. Once in a blue moon I can hold up on a swing.
This is just not realistic to me and very very frustrating
Also not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me or what but when using catcher view it looks like the bar with the score at the top is too low. The batters bat sticks over the scores bar. I don't remember seeing this in 08 correct?
Also could you explain why when the computer shows a replay automatically you can see the scoreboard but if I do a replay myself you see team logos instead? I just would like to understand how this works?
Also not sure if you would call this a bug and it is a beta so maybe its fixed in the final build but I had a play where the CPU was stealing third base and by mistake my catcher threw to second. it was a bad throw and was way left of the second baseman almost where the shortstop is so it should have gone into the outfield but magically the ball made a turn in the air and went to second base. It was strange to see lol
Also in 08 when playing in Day or night you could see the shadow of the ball when it was in the air. How come in 09 you can not see the shadow anymore when the sun is almost set?
Is this normal? For example I hit a deep fly ball down the right field line and in 08 I could look at the shadow to see if the ball was going to be fear or foul. But In 09 there is no shadow and you can not really tell where the ball is?
So thats some of my thoughts on the game with only 5 or so games played so far.
Now I guess I should get ready for the I complain too much commentslol

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I am noticing that when there are shadows on the field I cannot see a ball shadow. I prefer to play with no indicators on but I don't see how that is possible now. Did the version played at the community event have some shadow for the ball even if shadows were cast on the field from the stadium?
I also noticed in the outfield I cannot see the catch region indicator if there are shadows. But I can in the corners on the dirt.Last edited by x1Blumpkin1x; 02-06-2009, 11:49 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I played 3 games and the umpire definitely was "tightening" the strike zone each time...the usually fair Woody Keller was no so fair.... I had a pitch that was darn near the middle of the plate..(between the middle and middle away) and he called it a ball...eventhough I'm sure this may frustrate me a time or two...lol...it really adds to the realism...man this game is gonna rock!!!!!!!!
Sadly I keep hearing Hud or wonder dog...whatever you would like to call him saying..."Duuuude"Yankees!!!! Texas Longhorns!!!!
