Well Jim it's an impressions thread and i feel people should defitnetly speak up if they are seeing this issue. .

So if guys are seeing a difference when messing with a setting on their TV... can we rule out it is the demo doing this?

And perhaps move this part of the discussion to the thread in the forum dedicated to Choppy Animations and let others continue to discuss their impressions?

Ya unfortunately I'm seeing framerate issues also. Pitching and batting has some annoying stutter. I have a high end panny plasma, so I dont know what the problem is.

Sometimes after the ball is pitched, it seems to jump when approaching the plate and when a batter swings, its jumpy also. The more I play, the more annoying it has become. Ugh

I also see a "VERY" slight framerate issue. Buts its very slight and you could almost miss it if not looking for it But I do hope the final build will be fixed so all you wonderful people can enjoy the game

I don't see it. I'm straining my eyes, it's not there FOR ME. The thing about the ball being choppy to the plate and the swings being choppy. If I saw it, I'd tell you. I, and others don't see this. The problem, I don't know. We are all playing the same demo. Is there another variable?

I see it as far as the choppiness from the pitcher and batter. Kinda throws my timing off but its a demo. Heres what i am playing on:

50" phillips HDTV plasma on 720p
PS3 80g

Its not terrible also like I said its a demo. Besides when you have been playing mlb2k games, you get kinda used to the framerate crap.

They are bouncing ideas off each other as to what may be causing this.

Man do I agree with that. This is an impressions thread, we know some are having the framerate issue, so why keep beating it to death in the impressions thread. You can still post your problems there.

OK boys, for all the Samsung owners out there. I found a fix.

What I did, was switch the mode to game. There should be a button on the remote that comes with the TV that says E.MODE. You hit that until GAME comes up. This will actually call it ENTERTAINMENT.

I then renamed my HDMI2 input to PC.

I'm actually playing the game in 1080p with no lag, no stuttering, NOTHING!

The only drawback I'm seeing is that the screen is a little darker and I can't change it. But honestly, who cares.

YES!!! Now I see what others we're talking about!!

Maybe you cant see it becasue your playing it on a last gen tube there jim...ya know...the one that you have to get uo and turn the knob for the channels! LOL J/K For real though I went to my vizio 32" LCD upstairs and its sill the same deal.

Demo Impressions:

The Good:

I hit a ball down the line that went to the wall and I coasted into second with a double. Huge improvement over last year.

The suction action that used to happen when you approached grounders and fly balls seems to be toned down and fielding overall feels more "free" and "natural".

Sweet new annimations.

Seems like there is more randomness with balls off the bat.

cool shadows/lighting (not a major deal for me but it does look better)


The Bad (nothing major):

Still no on screen stats.


This is only after one 5 inning game...

I have a new topic: Animations....

I have only seen a couple of new animations for 09...there are supposed to be over 700, correct? I haven't seen any new throwing or fielding animations, I have only seen the outfielder lunge forward to make a catch and then go into a roll....what is everyone else seeing? I hope there are more obvious animations that I haven't seen yet...

No, and here is the explnation for that.

I will try to not be so technical.

The game runs @ 60FPS in 720p

The game runs @ 30FPS in 1080p

If the framerate (FPS) dips from 60 down to 42 or so FPS in 720p, some with a trained eye will notice it big time.

The fix covered, forces the game to run in 1080p which is already lower than said (hypothetical for arguments sake) framerate dip. Thus may not suffer from a dip at all.

Thus making you think it is "fixed" but in reality, you are just seeing the game in 30FPS and not it's 60FPS glory.

If we pretend like all is good then were stuck with this bad situation. Also i never had any problems with 08 or the demo for 08. This is all new to me. I tried everything imaginable to fix the problem. It's still there. I believe it's safe to say that this is a problem that many people are experiencing and hopefully gets fixed. That's all i'm saying. If this problem is only in the demo then i'm cool with that. I just dont want to buy this game all excited to come home and see it playing like this.

This isn't an issue in the finished version of the game I'm sure the game its not perfect but frame rate issues are nonexistent.

No worries, Pedroia hit for the cycle off of me and they acknowledge it. There's plenty of situational stats in the full game.
