    Can that happen Chris?

    Jimmy - Too fast
    Werth - Perfect
Chase - Bat needs to come down lower but great job with front leg and the way he holds the bat.
Ryan - Pefect(was in the game last year)
    Raul - Fine
Vic - Perfectly fine(love the high leg kick)
Pedro - Same as last year...Fine with me.
Ruiz - Great bat motion, its perfect...but like Jimmy's its way to fast.
Raul Ibanez is way off...have you seen ibanez bat before? lol

Won't let me post a link to a video, but search youtube with "raul ibanez" and choose the one where he doubles home everyone at wrigley field against the cubbies.

Holds his bat much higher above his head, and doesn't have his legs as wide...also a slight open stance as well..If its not updated by the full retail version, will probably have to find someone elses who comes close.

ps. Where did BSG go when ibanez's turn was up?? lol, someone wake him up! jk He's practically the only starter from either team who didn't get a good stance upgrade...especially since I think he needed it nearly the most. lol oh well.

While you can't substitute, you can have the CPU pinch hit for your pitcher. Just switch controller sides right before your pitcher comes up to bat. Obviously, the CPU will only do it if it makes sense. I keep playing games into the 8th and 9th because I can pitch well but can't hit worth crap

Anyway, just a neat little workaround. You can experiment with this during pinch-run or relief pitcher situations too I suppose.

That doesn't work. I decided to just get crazy and for a laugh, plunked something like ten batters in a row with Kazmir and he was not given the heave ho.

I got it to work in the 08 demo by plunking around 5-10 in a row, then just as I plunked the next guy, quickly switch teams. The computer may then decide to swap the pitcher out. Thats how I did it last year...I got all the way to papelbon when i was the rockies...lol

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

This is my first exposure to the MLB the Show series. Wow, now this is next gen sports gaming. Steroid scandals or not I'm actually going to follow the baseball season for once because of this game. A few questions though:

I hit a home run and the camera automatically switched to a cinematic camera angle of the batter watching it go. Is this random? Because I would still like to see the classic camera following the ball out of the park. And is batting solely timing based? So I can't adjust the location of the swing? Again this is my first experience with MLB the Show.

I'm definitely picking this game up on release and will have something else to use my PS3 for than just a glorified Blu-Ray disc player.

A few questions and impressions after a bunch of games.

                1) Im having trouble with some players not going for the ball. A few examples are (as the Phillies) a grounder down the 3rd base line, not a rocket, and i dive and it rolls right through my fielder. Another, as the CF, a fly ball about 15 feet to this left. I run over to catch it and as im getting close to the circle it doesnt "pull me in" Normally an animation takes over, but this time i ran to the circle and the ball went right through him, for what ended up being a triple. There is no way either guy should have missed it. ANyone else seeing this?

                2) Its pretty easy to pick a guy off first if you have a ball get away from the catcher and throw down to first. Ive had to stop doing it in the demo since it seems so easy

                3) Hitting is BRUTAL for me on Legend. Im not very good apparently, but i am happy to say ive gone yard 3-4 times with the X Button (and none with Howard).

                  Re: @ baa7

Also, CB ( i cant find your post) but i agree. Id like to be able to track what pitches i threw previously to a batter without going through a menu. ANd id like to be able to track ALL pitches thrown to me as a hitter, not just that at bat.

The fielding for me is a little meh. It looks good, but i just feel like as long as i start the fielder in the right direction, there isnt much for me to do. Maybe i havent played enough yet, or played with a bad enough fielding team to notice it.

i was under the impression that in last year's game, if you guessed correctly the location of the pitch, you didn't even have to move your hitting circle to that area, all you had to worry about was the timing. That doesn't seem to be the case this year, at least in the demo. Pressing L3 after a swing where I guess the pitch location shows the hitting circle dead center, every time.

yeah, metal you must use the L-Stick when batting this year, even if you've correctly guessed the pitch location. I love it. And I also like how it seems as though you're controlling your hands instead of a "cursor".

This is one thing I was hoping they fixed last year, because hitting took very little skill last year as all you had to do was correctly time your swing and you would make contact.

I just defeated the mighty Legend difficulty.

                            Box Score:

                            Phillies - 3 1 0
                            Rays - 1 4 0

All 3 of my runs came in the 1st inning.
Rollins was hit by a pitch, then stole 2nd
                            Werth walked on 7 pitches
                            Utley and Howard struck out
Then, Ibanez hits a 3-run homer. So, beautiful.

The Rays threatened me in the 2nd.
Joyce hit a line drive single.
Navarro then doubled taking Joyce to 3rd, but I pitched my way out of it.

In the 3rd, Upton hit a Single-Shot Homer and the intimadation factor came into play and I allowed a walk. Then, allowed a single, but once again Hamels pitched me out of it.

In the 4th, I struck out the side to WIN against LEGEND!!!!!

Another small detail that I find incredible is that the crowd actually reacts to the on field action and not just by getting louder. For example, there was a big situation with Utley at the plate and 2-outs...I struck him out and as I watched the folks in the crowd they each reacted differently. One woman who was standing grabbed her head and turned and said something to the woman next to her...another guy sat down and slumped in his seat shaking his head while yet another guy was giving Utley the business. I think the crowd this year really pushes this game visually from very good to surreal.

I agree the crowd is incredible in this year's game. By far the best crowd I've ever seen in a video game. It really draws you into the game even more.
