Re: MLB Rules Regarding Shelf Dates
Good to see the title and OP were edited . . . originally, it didn't reflect very well on our developers here, IMO (no disrespect meant, SCEA, it just seemed a little odd, and you made a good move to change it)
regarding the actual issue at hand, I think if we got the game at the end of February this year, we'd be beggin' for 3rd week of February next year, and January 5 the year after that. Eventually we'd like to see The Show '23 come out just moments after The Show '22 was released

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: MLB Rules Regarding Shelf Dates
I'd be willing to donate  $200 to stimulate the economy for a Retail Version just so that I could test it for any unseen bugs that happened to get by you guys (wink...wink). Sort of like a home game tester if you will.To all of you who think we have any control over when or how early we ship - I have bad news for you... You're wrong.
I've read over and over in the now locked Roster Vault thread (along with others previous to it) that we can release the game whenever we want and that the MLB does not have any say in when we can or can not release the game - you could not be more wrong.
MLB FA Manager is likely in a different category because 1) it's not the mainline SKU and 2) it details the off season stuff... It makes sense for it to come out during the winter meetings. (pure speculation on my part, I don't know what kind of arrangement 2K has with the MLB)
The absolute earliest we can ship our mainline baseball SKU's is March 1st. This is mandated by the MLB. Please keep all marketing dictation theories, conspiracy talk, and whatever else you're guys may dream up to yourself unless you know what our deal with the MLB actually entails. I've never lied to you and I dont intend to start now.

Re: MLB Rules Regarding Shelf Dates
Pretty certain you could find someone who will have the game before release that would have no problem selling you a game for $200.Madden 17

Re: MLB Rules Regarding Shelf Dates
The real problem is there will be 100s of people who have the game well before March 3rd. Little mom and pop stores could give a crap about a "street date violation".Originally posted by Aeonix01The cool and interesting thing about that is... the fines involved for street date violation are much higher than $200.
hey, damn, there I go being all sorts of pointless knowledgeful again
Unfortunately, I'm not one of those guys that can get it early.Madden 17
