I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
Has anyone noticed if there are still grass stains on the jersey's if someone dives? I have only seen the dirt stains so far. I have had guys dive in the grass plenty of times and hadn't noticed any 'green' on the jersey. I remember them being in last year.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I got a triple with Reyes in my first exhibition game, I don't think I had one triple in mlb 08.
I was up 8-0, and then the 7th and 8th innings were disasters, as expected, but I held on for the win.Comment

What a game! Tribe (me) v. Brewers, ST, Tribe wearing their old pinstripes, and the Brewers in their powder blue uni's. (Gotta love the ability to choose!!!)
Tribe won, 3-1. Pitcher's duel throughout, even with new pitchers coming in after the 5th inning.
No HR's for either team. Peralta had a 2 RBI double. Wood came in the ninth and got another 1-2-3 inning for the save.
Ok, I take back what I posted earlier about the comeback AI. Brewers never threatened.
My patience at the plate is improving bigtime, just in time for the regular season. I drew two walks today. Then, when Peralta hit the double, it was a "hitter's pitch": Full count, fastball right down Mainstreet.
Outstanding variety in this game! Tribe had 8 hits, and the Brew Crew had 6.
I'm loving it more everyday. I can't wait to hit the season and begin seeing all the gorgeous stadiums!Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I've only just started playing the game and have nothing to add that will surprise anyone. Wonderful in nearly every way. The comment that most resonated with me was that of the reviewer who said the game felt like 'a love letter to baseball'. Spot on. Gameplay and atmospherics - both superb. My games regularly take two hours or more because I like to let the cut-scenes play out and ponder my moves. It's always an intense experience which involves me completely and at the end of the game I have to have a break for a few hours before continuing. Playing on my 40 inch Sony Bravia TV, I really do get the uncanny feeling at times that I'm in the stadium. The game is tougher this year but feels absolutely fair and I am just motivated to practise and improve. I can't understand the few who think the game conspires against them. Last year I lost games where the computer opponent came back at me, but I won just as many comeback games myself. I'm sure it'll be the same this year. I know already that I'll be playing this game for a very long time. I find it hard to believe that there has ever been a better sports video game. SCEA can be justly proud of themselves.Comment

Some of them REALLY move on you.
It's really a case of knowing your pitchers more than anything I think.....like with Ollie Perez....I have to be really careful with his slider or it's WAY out and in the dirt sometimes..

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I've found that three things help when I'm throwing curves. 1) Throw them when hitters are expecting something else. I know you're not psychic, but it never hurts to save the curve and throw it in a 2-2 or 3-2 count. In this game you can definitely lock hitters up by breaking up stereotypical pitching patterns. 2) Move the L stick ever so slightly. If you want to place it on the outside edge of the zone, move it literally 1 millimeter left (with a righty) and 1 millimeter up or down, depending on where you want it. 3) If you're going to miss, miss low and not too wide either way so your catcher can have a chance to block it. You'll either get a swing and a miss or the hitter will be coming down on the ball, producing a ground out. If you hang it, that's another story altogether, but even good pitchers hang a breaking ball from time to time.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions
I have had a game for about a week, bought a PS3 just for this game, and I am loving it. I was a little frustrated by all the infield ground balls I was hitting the first couple of days I had the game. I kept lying to myself how realistic the game was even though I knew I was becoming increasingly frustrated.
Well the problem was I was using guess pitch on every pitch and had no idea you get penalized for guessing wrong. I am no longer using guess pitch, which is making each hit feel so much more satisfying and giving me much better power and hit variety.
Ive only played a couple of games on Legend using this tactic if you will, and I am seeing great variety and realistic hit totals.
Lastly, the speed and break on the pitches is SPOT ON. I have never been into baseball games mainly because I would play my brother MVP 2005 all the time, and would become so frustrated with how hard the hitting was. Maybe I was just never really focused on playing, but this year you can read the pitches, but still get caught with an outside slider or a inside fastball. IF your lucky enough to get ahead in the count (and are batting with a power hitter) Power swing works perfectly when you think the pitcher is finally gonna throw you the meat pitch. I also love watching every hit replay because it looks natural and not as if the game is giving you hits or cheating.
Sorry for making the post so long winded, but I spent $400 on this game so Im entitled to it lol.Comment
