Re: MLB 09: The Show - Impressions

After having my blue-ray player for the past 7 months and not one game I was interested in playing on it. I decided to download the demo this past weekend after watching a movie because I was pretty much bored.

ALL I could say was wow!!!!!!!!!! I had not played a baseball game in about 2 years and I was not really interested in playing one anytime soon. But this game grabbed my attention from the start and just kept on woo'ing me the more I played it.

This game is the s**t! ...and I have only played the demo a few dozen times.

I have not been this impressed with a sports game in a very long time.. I am picking this game up after work!

If I may, and I will, give you advice.

When you get home tonight, clear the place out. Savor every pitch, every cut scene, everything.

          The demo pales in comparison.

Played my first game today on Hall of Fame difficulty. Giants vs. Brewers...looks like its gonna be a long year for the Giants offensively... Lincecum was a beast though.

I finished the game and I was so immersed into the game that I had no idea what time it was or how much time had passed. This game will definitely be in my rotation for the next 365 days.

First impression: playing on All Star difficulty - Cubs vs Tampa Bay, I'm the Cubs. The game seems a bit homer-happy. I hit 5 homeruns and TB hits two. Dunno what to think. Certainly hope I don't see too many of these games.

I assume that was sarcasm, in which case I wonder why I'm required to read 172 pages of impressions before I post? If it wasn't sarcasm, then I apologize.

You aren't allowed to say anything negative without the possibility of being criticized. The fact you just posted results from one game where 7 home runs were hit needed to be shouted down.

I don't think the game is homer happy but it depends on your skill level. If I hit 5 HRs on All-Star I think I would run a lap around my house and jump for joy. I struggle to hit 1 HR per game on All-Star. If you find it is an issue, try HOF as it may be what you are looking for but beware the cpu offense will be more dangerous.

I don't think the game is Homer happy either. In my first franchise game against the Cubs I hit 6 Homers. 2 with Lee, 2 with Matsui, 1 Berkman, and 1 Pence. I was like man, I don't think I have ever hit that many home runs in one game ever on a video game. I had your initial thoughts as well.

Well, I'm now in the fifth game of my franchise, and I have hit one home run since and that was with Lee. So, now I know that the game is not just homer happy. I was just "ON" in that first game I guess.

Well that's good to know (about the homers).

For the record (and this isn't directed at you rudy) this is an "impressions" thread, not an "I did an in-depth analysis about an issue" thread. Right?

I did not want to start a new thread but simply just wanted to ask a quick question and this thread resembled it the most. BUT...

Is there a way to resign players within franchise during the year? I have a ton of players that are in their final year's and I would like to re-sign them in May before they have an awesome year and demand more money. I cannot seem to find a place where to do this though.

Can anyone help me? Thank you all for your help!!!
