    PSP VERSION:

When it shows the pitching match-ups on the loading screen ... Jon Lester has his 2007 pitching stats listed, when it should be 2008.

Judging by the fact that they don't know the different rules of what the requirements are for a ball to be fair or foul, or how many bases someone gets on a overthrow into the crowd it's a pretty safe bet to say I know the rules better.. Considering they develop video games and I have over 20 years of playing/coaching/umpiring and now actually working for a local AA team, I'm going to bet I know the rules a little better. Not to mention half the pitchers don't even have their pitches and an independent team has to go through and take a month and a half to fix it. It was fun watching the Mets today and Ralph Keiner talking about Santana's Curveball and 2 variations of sliders... So I guess the devs just got lazy and left out the other HALF of his pitches.. We're talking about a 2x Cy Young winner who had the best ERA in the majors last year, not some scrub... but I guess they never watched a single mets game because they know baseball so well they don't need to.
I'm not going to get into a flame war about it but people need to realize that some people eat and breathe baseball and are qualified to make statements.. Any game where u guess a pitch and it says
"HEY THATS RIGHT!!!" is about as real as back to the future.

Where is this poll, and who voted on it?

2K5 cant even hold a candle to the batter/pitcher match ups in this series. And that is the heart and soul of baseball gaming. All the other things come after.

Anyhow, they actually have an ex-big leaguer who is a developer for them, but carry on with the elitism, it is entertaining.

It's tough to compare the two games. Different systems, different times. Fair to say that MVP was well ahead of its time.

I'd give the edge to The Show in the batter/pitcher interfaces and graphics department. But MVP has much better in-game AI by the CPU. The one achilles heel of The Show is that the CPU makes a ton of bonehead plays throughout the game in situational spots.

One bug I come across is in the announcing. When I'm closing a game in the 9th of my RTTS, Dave Campbell will mention how with this win we'll be back at .500. Problem is he says it in almost every game and it doesn't match the current record. Just a small bug.

This a very minor glitch I caught but during a game, the pitches by inning stats came up and it showed I had 71 pitches in the first inning and 0 in the other 6 innings.

Don't know where else to put this.

But Fenway is missing the rolled up tarps down the first base line, past the camera well of the Home Team dugout. It was there last year.

Also, Boston still warms up in the wrong BP. They should be in the left one not the right one they are in. They are currently in the visitors, and there should be a fence going around it on the bleacher and RF side.

And last but not least, the hits/total runs part of the old school scoreboard still does not work.

So last night I was playing and was in batting practice in RTTS mode when every button on my controller quit working. None of the buttons would work. I had to get up and manually restart the PS3. When I restarted it my controller still wouldn't work. It was then that I realized my controller battery was dead. I felt like such an idiot especially since I had lost about 20 games that I'd played and hadn't saved. So not only does this game have bug/glitches, it also causes bugs/glitches in our brain.

Ok, so this post probably doesn't belong in this thread, but I thought it was pretty funny and wanted to share with everyone.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I wish the standings board there worked.

I had Schumaker at first base and Pujols batting; Schumaker takes off for second and Pujols hits a ball that goes foul down the first base line. They show the runner being a little disappointed that he has to go back to first, but the problem is the runner they showed was Pujols. It should have been Schumaker that was heading back to first.

                      Infield Fly rule error

My understanding of the rule is that bunts with runners on at least 1st & 2nd and less than two outs that result in a popup cannot be called under the Infield Fly rule. My RTTS starting pitcher bunted in the above situation and it got popped up; the ump ruled it an infield fly which I believe is incorrect.

If this has been previously mentioned, I apologize for posting it again, but this glitch just happened to me, so I wanted to record as much detail as possible about what happened.

I was playing a rivalry series at Citizen's Bank Park with the Braves (me) and Phillies (CPU). There was a runner on first for the phillies, and the batter hit the ball in the air down the left field line. I ran over towards the ball, tried to catch it by diving, and had the ball hit off of my player's glove and roll a few feet away. When my player got up, all I could do was run circles around the ball, because he would not pick the ball up. Eventually the center fielder ran over and picked it up, but by that time the batter had already managed to cross home plate for an inside-the-park home run.

Just as a side note, out of about 30 games played, this is the first time I've encountered this glitch, and the rest of the game has played amazingly well.

I'm stuck in the replay section. Whatever I do, I can't back out of it. What's so bad, is I just hit my 10th HR, and have 4 RBI's on the day. Guess I'm going to have to cut it off and lose it.

Yeah seriously, I'd like to know who voted on that poll too. MVP was fun, and MVP had potential, but it never got to realize it and was not realistic. I think that the Show is finally realizing it's potential.

                              In response to Sirrus.

MVP on the console has not aged well. I played it a few months ago and couldn't get through a game.

MVP also had pitch ID which told you the pitch before the ball left the pitcher's hand ... and while possible on a tipped pitch, it's very difficult for a real hitter to identify a pitch while it's still in the pitcher's hand. And I don't remember seeing anybody's hand glowing colorfully in real life to tell the fans and batter what to expect.

I understand not being pleased with some of the rules bugs, but I'm not sure why so much outrage over the guess pitch feature ... you can turn it off.

And beat your chest all you want about how deep your personal experience is with baseball ... and how you know more than everyone else. It makes you a great person to have a conversation with.
