Excuse my ignorance but what is this H/9 and all those stats? Is it hits per nine innings? What does it mean?

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I started my RTTS last nite. Only played one game. Drafted by the A's. I grounded out my first AB. Got the order to drive the run on 2nd AB. I drove in both. Can't wait to play later. Will be posting more info on my first baseman."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

So this is the likelyhood that I'll give up "X" amount of hits per nine innings and get "X" amount of K's per nine innings etc. etc.?Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Ridiculous! Here is a little background. I was drafted by the Reds and played the first year for the Mud Cats up until the all-star break and then got traded to the hooks. Played the rest of the year for the hooks and did alright with .249, 6 homers, 15 RBI's.
Second year, I got invite to ST for Astros and did real well. I did well enough that I got promoted to the MLB right out of ST and played all year in the utility roll. I spot started and at the end of the year, I had 275 at bats with a .260 average, 30 RBI's, 6 homers, and an OPS of .800.
In my third year (last year of my contract), I get invited to ST and do well hitting .279 with 3 homers and 11 RBI's. When the regular season starts, I am back down in AA! A rookie gets promoted to MLB and I am stuck in AA. After the great year I had in the utility roll, I get this crap!
Well, needless to say, I get promoted to AAA after 3 weeks and am stuck there now.

Just to double check. For a pitcher, when improving a Changeup (or non fastball)'s velocity, it just makes that pitch be better at what it does (ie slow up a changeup or whatnot)...Right?Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

6th AAA start. I see now that I am no longer the dominant pitcher that I was in AA. I am having really high pitch counts and not getting deep into games. I was no hitting the Red Wings for a while but I was still at like 52 pitches through 3.2. I have a big league fast ball. 74 velocity rating, 70 control rating. Other pitches are coming along. Went 5.2 surreendering 3 hits but it took about 94 pitches. Got my 3rd win though

Improving the change-up's velocity slows the pitch down more. For example at the very start your change might be 81 MPH as you improve the velocity it might be 74 MPH making it harder to distinguish from the heat.Moderator

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
This thread is really an enjoyment to read while sitting here at work waiting to go home and play.
My first guy was drafted by the Pirates as a RF/1B. He was built more for contact/power, not worrying about much else unless goals were set. Played a handful of games in the first season and was doing decent, but not great. Last night I was making screenshots and videos, but the game locked up on auto-save corrupting the file. Oh well, thankfully I wasn't that far along for me to get aggravated.
My new guy was drafted by the Blue Jays and had a nice spring. I'm focusing him on all power unless goals say otherwise. I'm only one game into my first season as a New Hampshire Fisher Cat. The first game was a great start for my career. First at bat, lined a ball into the gap for a stand up double. I finished the day 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles and an RBI. One of my goals to start the season was to improve my bunting ability. I managed to take care of that prior the game during BP (I'm loving this new feature).Comment

I also enjoy reading how everyone else is progressing along. In last year's game I made it pretty far but was upset with my success versus being tossed to AAA after excellent seasons in the majors.
I'll never forget the first ever at-bat in last year's RTTS for my player. I was in the Brewers organization and came in as a pinch hitter against the Mets and Johan Santana.
Welcome to the majors kid!
All of the work up to that point was awesome. Without getting to corny about it, there was a sense of accomplishment.
Anyways... on to this year. I was drafted by the Mariners organization :S ... signed to a AA deal with the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx as a LF.
I focused on contact attributes and some fielding because most of the goals are associated with hitting and that's how you get more points to get better.
I was signed after a horrible spring, so the first 3 weeks of the season focused on pinch hitting spots coming off the bench...not fun. Luckily I got a couple chances to start and made the most of it.
I'm currently about 6 weeks into the season and am hitting .370 with 1 HR and around 10 RBI. I'm hitting in the #3 spot and am loving the RBI chances, if I could just come through more in the clutch.
I have struck out 3 times and walked only once. I am really working on working counts, but at the AA level you get some meaty pitches and it's hard to lay off.
One of my current goals is to draw 4 walks and I'm down to the last week. I doubt that's going to happen.
The Diamond Jaxx are also leading the division so it adds to the joy. In last year's game the Brewers were sub-par so it was depressing to lose all the time.
I have never played a post-season game on RTTS in two years
I am really hoping to make the AA All-Star game though, that's my main goal at this point. I made it in 08 and it was amazing to play on a MLB field.
RTTS really lends itself to a "Future Stars" game, but The Show hasn't added the whole All-Star experience to the game yet...maybe in the future.
Could you imagine having the celebrity softball game, HR Derby, Futures game, and then the All-Star game?
Anyways, keep posting your progress, it's a good team reading how everyone is doing.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I haven't got the game yet but i have started planning what position i am going to play and what type of player i want to be.
I'm going to be a shortstop with a focus on contact and speed.
Then later on maybe focus on power depending on how i progress and where i bat in the line up.Chicago Cubs Franchise - 2019 (1-0)

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I might be wrong, but it may be possible. If you hit a sac fly your OBP would go down but your batting average would be unaffected. So, you could have a lower OBP than batting average. Again, not certain if this is realistic but that's what happened to my RTTS guy.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Well, I usually start on as a batter and sim pretty much all of it til i get to the bigs and then i play. I know i'm a cheater. But anyways as a 1st baseman in the Giants organization i get the call up and have only have had one start and two pinch-hits thus far. Going to play now.MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
