Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Sorry guys if this is the wrong thread, but...

In order to avoid the RttS crash and burn, I only have to skip all Batting practices in every years September, right? So all other months of all years are not affected by this, right?

I haven´t experienced it yet and, knock on wood, hopefully won´t if you guys can help me out.

    Thanks in advance...

Griffin Miller LF - Drafted by the Cards. This is my first attempt at rtts. I had a decent spring and was sent down to AA Springfield as a bench player. I noticed that even though I was a bench player I played almost every game anyway. I worked my way up and won the starting RF role. I was selected to play in the texas league All star game. Soon after I was called up to AAA Memphis because of injury. I finished out the year there. The following season I was not invited to spring training but at least I am still in AAA as the starter.

Couple questions, do any of the interactions actually do anything? I tried to do them but everytime it blew up in my face. I told the manager that I thought our team had low chemistry and he told me to worry about my job. LOL. Then I was put on the trading block and I picked the request a trade thing and I lost my starting job?????

That's the impression that I'm under. I just finished year 4 last night, and no crash yet. **Knocks on wood**

On a side note, I had an inside the park homerun with my guy the other day. I was pretty excited about this! Now, I just need to hit for the cycle and turn a triple play and my life as a video game baseball player will be complete.

As anyone else had an inside the park homerun?

I'm on the Padres, and wow, we were a terrible team. 59-103 was our final record. But, the future is looking bright (the Padres had the number 2 and 3 guys for the rookie of the year award including me). We also had 2 A potential, rookie starting pitchers and a couple of A potential guys in AAA. By the time I'm a free agent, they might actually be good! I will definitly be moving on when I'm a free agent though!

I asked for a trade one day and it worked. I got traded to the Orioles which was was the only team with a worse record than my Padres in year 4 of franchise. (we had 103 loses and they had 110 losses).

I was traded for a relief pitcher though - I thought I would have had more value than that. I reloaded and stayed with the Padres..haha

I've also used the "move up in the lineup" interaction. My manager says OK and then I'm still hitting 7th against RHP and 2nd vs LHP, so even though he said he was moving me up, he never did. Oh well.

              Actually here's a tip:

ALWAYS use 'Move up in the linup' or 'Get more playing time' option when it pops up. If they turn you down, they dont get mad at you or whatever. Keep checking to see if the option pops in, then use it. Eventually, I got my start quite easily.

The Trade interaction is very difficult. This 'owned for 6 yrs' mlb rule is harsh. I cant wait to get out of the Brewers. But this is my last year with them!

Does the trade interaction ever come back? I asked for a trade, they declined, and now I can't ask again. I want to leave the Padres.

Anyone else in the Padres system have Brian Giles in AAA. He is HORRIBLE. Hitting under .200.

I dont think it comes back until next season, looks like your stuck with the Padres.

I asked for a trade 2 seasons ago and was traded to Baltimore, then in the offseason they traded me and 2 other prospects to Cleveland for Grady Sizemore.

                    Update:

A few posts ago I wrote I was called up to the Cleveland Indians..had a great start was hitting .333 with 2 Hr's and 3 RBI's. I've been in the MLB for 3 weeks and now my stats are.....236 2 Hr's and 4 RBI's. Going through a MAJOR slump. Im still making good contact, but it seems its either a grounder to the 2nd baseman or a deep flyout.

I was in the starting lineup due to an injury now im being used as a utility player.

I hate how their are slumps, but i also love it because every player goes through slumps in a season. It just sucks when I see a fastball numbers high straight down the middle and I ground it to second and with RISP.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

So for my second full season i got the nod for opening day starter. I was pretty pumped. My spring training went okay but it ended on a very sour note, but the thing i did really like was the increase in strikeouts. So i played the opening day and did very well, i forgot to take a screen shot of the final line but i remember it very well. Here is the line:
                      7 IP
                      6 H
                      1 ER
                      9 K

I got the win and the season is off to a great start! Hopefully it continues for the rest of the year. Here is a picture of me delivering the first pitch of the 2012 season.

Ok, since most people who are in this thread are playing rtts right now, How do you control the fielding? Mostly diving and jumping I am running for a line drive and I hit the right stick down and nothing happens or I am running toward the wall, or close to a fly ball and all i need to do is jump a little and I press up on the right stick and nothing happens. The R1 button makes my guy jump but how do you dive/slide for tough to get FB

So R1 is jump and R2 is dive. I could have sworn that the booklet said that the stick up or down controls these.

How do you get promoted? I'm in my first year as a 3B but I am hitting about .450 with 9 HR's, 72 RBI's, and like 36 SB's but I'm still in AA. My manager says I'm good enough for AAA but he says I need more experience.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong? How does your OVERALL raise?

For RTTS you have to use R1 and R2 the right stick controls the camera.
