My RTTS has joined the ranks of the crashers. However, I plan on starting over anyway with a roster of real minor league players.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
One thing I had a question on. During character creation, I'm wondering if the speed of my pitching motion will help cut down on base stealing. Or will it give you a slide-step motion when runners are on base? I know when I'm stealing bases, it's much easier against a long wind-up.
Anyone have a pitcher with a long wind-up that gets in trouble with runners on base?Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Okay, mine didn't crash, but I was wondering if that has happened to anyone else post-patch in that everytime I do one of the hitting or baserunning training things, it just shows the pitcher and doesn't let me do anything. Is that due in part to the patch or what?Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Man I hate the Brewers, if I ever go to America, I'm going to burn the Brewers Stadium down to the ground.
After they wasted an entire season for me only giving me PH (52 AB) opportunities in an entire season. I started the next season as PH in spring training. Not even one freaking start in the whole spring training. What did I do to deserve this? I only had one AB in every game, with the odd occasion of two games where I had 2 AB. In the end of spring training I finished with 36 AB. With these 36 AB my stats were as follows: .333, 12 H, 3 2B, 2 HR, 6 SB, 1SO, 9 RBI. Now tell me these stats aren't good enough to give me an opportunity or two...sigh
RTTS is really annoyning the last couple of days, with the AI not giving me any opportunities and letting my attributes decline.San Francisco 49ers

I am a first baseman with the New York Yankees. Had to avoid being traded, they got rid of Nick Swisher just to keep me around. Just completed a monster second year of RTTS in Triple-A. Take a look at what I did my first year compared to my second year. Unreal stats, starting 1B for the Yankees, they moved Texiera to DH!!!! 20 year old rookie entering third season, first with the Big Club!
First Year with Trenton Thunder
In 101 games, I was 129-411 (.314 BA), with 34 run, 20 doubles, 7 HR and 56 RBI.
Second year with Wilkes/Barre Scranton Yankees
In 132 games, I was 213-544 (.392 BA), with 56 runs, 43 doubles, 28 HR and 114 RBI.
I led the league in homers, doubles, RBI, Batting average, hits, slugging and OPS!!!!
Moving up to the MLB is going to be tougher, but looking to break the career HR record without roids!Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Scott Goin, SS, Seattle Mariners continued...
Year 4: The beginning of the year started badly with Scott's contract dispute with the Mariners. They refused to budge on a AAA contract despite him having started 80% of the previous season in the majors. After a lot of arm pulling, he managed to get them to agree to a 10-year/5 million dollar deal (in other words, I didn't want to deal with any more contract bugs in this game and also wanted the Mariners to be able to afford free agents in the future).
Free agency was a mixed bag for the M's. We lost King Felix to the dreaded Boston Red Sox but managed to pick up a big time talent in Grady Sizemore and a solid upgrade in Aubrey Huff.
Scott hit well in Spring Training, in spite of his bench role. But the club refused to budge and sent him to AAA to start the year. Scott was also a bench player in AAA but got lucky when the starting catcher got injured in the first game. Between SS, 2B, and Catcher, he got to play a lot and tore the cover off the ball in the process. After a month of wearing out AAA pitching, he met his 2nd set of goals and was not only immediately moved back up to the majors but also given his old starting SS job back again. Hallelujah!
Something must have possessed Scott from that point onwards because he proceeded to have an all-time great year. When he started off on a hot streak, major slumps were expected to come as well. But there just weren't any. Scott was on a hot streak from day one of his callup on May 4th until the end of the season.
In spite of missing the first month of the season, Scott worked his way onto the All-Star team (luckily Jeter had retired the previous season and the biggest competition was Orlando Cabrera).
First All-Star Game

Soon, after hitting his first grand slam in the bigs, Scott began to realize that his hot streak wasn't a fluke. He was just seeing the ball better and crushing anything left in the middle of the plate. Hitting streaks of 25 and 34 games lasted through most of the summer and fall.
First Grand Slam

As the season wound to a close and the M's held a slight lead in the weak AL West, Scott became the front-runner for all hitting-related post-season awards. Hank Aaron Award, Silver Slugger Award, MVP. As the first player in the majors since Ted Williams in 1941 to break .400, the awards rained down on him.

The hated Boston Red Sox awaited in the first round of the playoffs.
Game 1 - Eric Bedard against former ace of the Mariners, Felix Hernandez. Bedard pitched his butt off but we lost 2-1. Scott failed in most respects, going 0-3 with a sac fly.
Game 2 - facing Josh Beckett. Scott kept popping up his high fastballs and only went 1-4. We lost 6-5. This is starting to look like the previous year's first round loss to the Red Sox.
Game 3 - Scott broke out and hit the ball hard, going 2-4 with a double and an RBI but the Red Sox kept pouring it on. By the 9th inning, the Mariners were down 11-7 with 1 out and runners on first and third. Going all out for a homerun, Scott dribbled a grounder past the 2nd baseman, scoring one and putting runners on first and 3rd again with still 1 out. The stupid manager calls for Scott to steal a base. Are you kidding me? Tying run at the plate in Aubrey Huff and you want me to risk being thrown out? Scott refused and Huff managed a walk, loading the bases with 1 out for Grady Sizemore. BAM! Walk off grand slam to win the game 12-11.
Game 4 - like a heavyweight title fight, huge punches were landed constantly with the lead going back and forth. Scott Goin went 4-6 with his first post-season home run and 3 RBI. Alas with a runner on and down by 2 in the 9th, Scott popped up the final out and the Mariners were once again ousted from the playoffs by the mighty Red Sox.
Spring Training, Year 5:
Things are looking bright. We resigned all our free agents and also went out and grabbed the big man, Prince Fielder to man 1st base.
(Side note: obviously my numbers aren't too realistic for the 2012 season. I was hesitant to move up the difficulty from All-Star to Hall of Fame during the season but I think I'm going to have to give HoF a try this year. My player seems to hit the ball hard every time. It probably helped to be on a hot streak all the time as well.)

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Right now I'm in my first year with the Tulsa Drillers after being drafted by the Rockies. Not sure what the deal is, but I literally can't buy a hit. I'm currently hitting .105 through my first 20 AB of the season, backing up the starting CF. Hopefully some of the training I'm doing will pay off, but it's hard to get training points when you're just Pinch Hitting every game, with the occassional start sprinkled in.Twitter - WTF_OS

Pretty much the story of my RTTS guys.. I rented it since I don't have a PS3(roomie does) and in the 5 days I had it I started over a few times and never hit for ****, especially in the beginning..Right now I'm in my first year with the Tulsa Drillers after being drafted by the Rockies. I don't like how the manager pulls you pitching kind of early. Like I'll pitch 6 good innings, give up a hit in the top of the 7th, and get pulled immediately even though my energy is decent with an okay pitch count.
Plus, a lot of times get pulled after 6 even though I can definitely go longer.7 National Championships

Don't hesitate to use the "Interaction" feature and let him hear it, if your timing is right then he'll let you go a little longer next time out. :wink:Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
So I've finally set NHL 09 aside and started digging in to the RTTS. At first, I couldn't have been more unhappy with the game. I like to play the speedy middle infielder type that gets singles and runs around the bases. But they destroyed the baserunning. I can't believe it, either, because while last year's wasn't a selling point or anything, at least it worked.
After getting frustrated to death by that, I created a new RTTS and created a big 1B. Of course, on default sliders, he was worthless. He was essentially a big, slow, crappy singles hitter.
So I tried a pitcher. Yeah, didn't care for that.
Finally, I re-created my big 1B and messed with the sliders a ton. Now I'm actually doing pretty well on veteran, which I should considering I played a ton last year and I'm one of the best 1B in AA right now. And I can even hit some home runs now, probably about 1 every 20-25 AB.
Still some little annoyances here and there, like pretty much everything to do with the hit-and-run goal. No coach, I'm not gonna swing at a pitch literally two feet off the outside edge of the plate. I can't legally reach that, so I'd rather not have it be a strike because I flailed helplessly at it. And I don't appreciate being penalized double for not attempting, and then getting a terse email about it.
But I'm at least having fun now, on my fourth attempt. Of course, I skip all fielding and baserunning, and I'm not playing the type of player I normally would, but I'm enjoying this guy. Plus, he's Russian, so I've got some bad *** Russian music as my walkup music, and me and my buddy can constantly make jokes about the motherland.Comment
