Very nice stewaat. I got demoted back to AAA, playing CF for the SkySox, and am taring it up. On a 11 game hitting streak, batting .476 right now.
Can't wait to get back to the show and show the manager what I've got, after upping some more of my stats.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I've been an avid fan of "The Show" for the past few years now, but never really gave Road to the Show Mode a shot until this year. I started a RTTS this past weekend. I'm a shortstop who got drafted by the Minnesota Twins to start 2009. I went through Spring Training with the Twins, and the numbers weren't super great. I did have a two-run homer in my first at-bat of the spring, though. Anyway, after Spring Training ended, I was offered a two-year AA (Bench) contract. Not a big fan of the bench in the minors, so I elected to become a free agent. Spent all of the 2009 season as a free agent. During the offseason, I had a few offers from some teams. The Houston Astros offered AA (Bench), the San Francisco Giants offered AA (Bench), the Padres sent an offer and then withdrew their offer as quickly as they made it. lol. Finally, I was offered two starting jobs in AA. One offer from the St. Louis Cardinals, and the other from my home team the Philadelphia Phillies. Obviously, I chose the Phillies. I don't have the exact stats on me right now, but I'm in May 2010. I'm batting somewhere around .220 or so, 1 HR, 5 2B, 8 RBI, 4 SB.
After reading about how some of you have been progressing, I'm thinking I might want to start another RTTS, so that I don't lose out on all the of the progression for my player in 2009, like I have in my current RTTS.
Question: How long did most of you who are a position player spend in AA?
Also, has anyone here had such a great Spring Training that you made the MLB after the spring ended? I've always been interested to know if that's happened to anyone? Thanks.Comment

I've never heard of that before. Perhaps that's worth experimenting with on Rookie to see if it's possible?Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I assume you mean spring training as in your FIRST spring training? If not, then yes, I made the team after my third spring training.
As a LF, I spent one season in AA, and one in AAA before making the team my third season as a starter.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I spent my entire first season in AA (although I missed half the season due to an injury). My team ended up winning the Texas League championship though which was nice because you get major bonus points in the playoffs.
My 2nd season was in AAA and I didn't put up very good numbers. My 3rd season started in AA for a month and I spent the rest of the season in AAA and put up huge numbers. I could have got a call up half way through the year, but I was getting lots of points in AAA and we made the playoffs, so I stuck it out.
My 4th season, I made the show as the Padres starting SS and I've never looked back.
I honestly don't think it's possible to make MLB out of your first spring training unless MAYBE your franchise has some real fluke injuries. Also, AA Bench isn't as bad as it sounds - you play pretty much every game anyway.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I made the show with my C after 1 year in AA and 3/4 of a year in AAA. My pitcher made the show after 3/4 of a year in AA and then again for good after 1/2 a year in AAA. As long as you pick a secondary position, you will probably start every game as a bench player....easy pickings if you take C or IF as your secondary.
What bugs me still is that you get no training points for winning awards or leading the league in major categories....take a strike and you get 5 points, but hit .375 to lead the league and you get nada.....grrr Ichiro's 262 hits seems like it is gonna be impossible to get until I get my durability to 99 (67 right now).Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Made it to the majors in the 3rd year with my SP. Got drafted by the Nationals, then traded to the Brewers in the first season (AA). Promoted to AAA to start year 2, then to the majors to start year 3. Made the All-Star game as a rookie with an 8-4 record and a 2.42 ERA with a Brewers team fighting for the wild card....then got traded to the lowly Padres, and we haven't gotten closer than 11 games out of first.
Stats:
2009 (AA): 9-7, 2.84 ERA
2010 (AAA): 10-6, 2.54 ERA
2011 (MLB) (Mid-August): 11-5, 2.51 ERAComment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Year 3, I started out in the show, still scorching on offense, hitting .412 through the first 35 games. Problem is, I was only getting an AB once every few games. Failed my goals and got demoted. Was on a tare in AAA until breaking my arm in a game... 60 day DL. Came back 100% and picked up where I left off. My power is low 60's still, so I'm not putting up massive HR numbers, but I'm leading in most statistical offensive categories. Last game, I had a 5-6 game including a walk off 3 run HR in the 12th. Great feeling.Twitter - WTF_OS
