This is good to know. I just started a new RTTS a few days ago. I got drafted by the Boston Red Sox as a switch-hitting right fielder who can play all three outfield positions. I had a pretty decent spring training. Batted around .280 or so, 1 HR, about 13 RBIs, 1 SB, only about 17 strikeouts. My home run actually came off the bench as a pinch hitter. It was a two-run, game-tying homer. Anyway, I got a contract offer after spring training for three years, $150,000 on AA (Bench). Only about a month into the AA season and these are my stats so far.

    15 games
    60 at-bats
    14 hits
    5 runs scored
    1 home run
    10 RBIs
    5 strikeouts
    .233 AVG

The manager seems impressed so far, so hopefully I'll become a full-time starter pretty soon.

First year ST I was terrible. Batted .170 and struck out in about half of my AB. Signed with AA to play off the bench but after a week starting SS got injured and after batting .380 in the ensuing month I was given the starters job. Then another month in the starting SS for AAA was injured and I was moved up. Hit .340 with 1 HR and 34 RBI for two months. Then on a very bad AB I attempted to hit a HR on a ball outside the zone and apparently tore a tendon. Out for the year (Bad year for SS's in the minors apparently).

Second year I was put on the MLB roster as a utility player. Basically only pinch hit and spot started for the first month. Not getting any advancement goals or batting all that well (.250) Then Kaz Matsui got hurt and I was starting at Second Base. Batting average in May has gone from .250 to .340. Even more inexplicable I hit 6 HR's in May. I hit two the year before. I have a 48 Power rating. At this moment I have hit HR's in 5 straight games. It's inexplicable.
      yes,this game is very addicting

In the 2013 season though, we we're 3rd in offense behind only the Red Sox & Yanks. Grady Sizemore, Prince Fielder, Aubrey Huff, and our great young left fielder (from the draft) really helped. I think my 10 year/5 million dollar contract has allowed them more financial flexibility too.

I'm not sure exactly what Vision affects. I've heard that it allows you to foul off more pitches. Not sure. I've never really raised Vision or Discipline and I haven't had any problems hitting. If they do affect certain things, it hasn't affected me much.

What I do know is that Contact stats increase the size of your PCI. I started off only putting training points in Contact vs Right Handers. My PCI against right handers was much bigger than against lefties. Once I improved contact vs lefties, the PCI's were roughly the same.

As I said before, I could hit okay once I learned how to focus on the pitcher's delivery/release point and how to adjust my PCI/timing. But I didn't make the big leap in hitting until I started improving my power stats. The harder a ball is hit, the less likely a fielder can get to it.
I have contact at 85 for both RHP and LHP, and since I started pumping vision to now 66, my PCI is almost the entire strike zone. I think it helps a lot....my power ratings are only 75 on each side.....just an FYI on that.

Nice man congrats. It's definitely realistic with the slumps, you just get in a mental one with your virtual guy!

          Mekias - you're a beast.

I finished up my 2010 season in AAA after being sent down. I was hitting .260 in the bigs as a utility guy but I couldn't reach my goals. In AAA I hit .360 and had almost 1 RBI/gm.

I'm starting 2011 back in the bigs but I'm a utility guy again. I have a feeling I will be sent back to AAA shortly.

Oh and in 2009 & 2010 I had 60-day injuries. Need to work on my durability I guess...

Despite the hardship I've had it's been really fun so far. Already in year 3 and I can't wait until I have some time to get back into it.

I just got my 100th career Stolen Base and Homerun early in the 2014 season (although the homerun took me 2 weeks as i started off in a bad slump). Funny thing is, 100 Stolen Bases only gave me 100 training points whereas 100 Homeruns gave me 500 training points. Spent it all in Arm Accuracy, hoping to win my first gold glove this year.

I finally bitched enough and I'm starting for the O's now. Our team is just under .500 and has a very average offense.

I've added a little more pop and have 4 or 5 home runs to go along with a BA of just under .300. I had an awesome game where I hit a 3-run bomb on two-strike count to take the lead and then after they tied it up I hit a GW single in the bottom of the 15th. It was an awesome feeling.

Not too sure of all the other pitchers, I've been in AAA mostly so I need to check out how my other MLB guys are doing when I play.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

One month into the 2014 season with my catcher and the lowly Padres have won 3 games so far....ugh. On pace to hit .390ish 35hr and 120rbi. My 3yr contract is up at the end of this season, I am hoping for a trade to someone good...otherwise I am going to ask for a bunch of money from them if I can get it. I am one of three studs on the team, the rest are tools. We have Matt Garza, my player, and a home grown second baseman, everyone else is terribad.

My plan for my player development in this 4th year in the bigs is to get Power to about 84-85 for each hand, durability up to 80, and vision to 80. I will probably just maintain the rest of my attributes.

Off the top of my head I am at:

                Code:
CONL CONR POWL POWR CLT BUNT DBNT VIS DISC DUR SPD BRAB BRAG ARM ACC FLD REAC
                84 85 75 77 59 20 10 68 65 73 77 59 15 79 78 67 72

I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how many points you get for all of the different objectives, primarily no-hitter, perfect game, 300 wins, 400 wins, and 4,000 K's.

                    I have a quick question.

I recently started my first reliever/closer career.

I was just wondering, if it would be a good strategy to save my spring training points, until the regular season starts? When I can use them toward's goals?

Or would you lose too much not training for the entire spring?

Stockpiling points in spring training is a very good idea. I like to keep at least 500 points in reserve at all times in case I go into a major slump. Another good thing is your ratings will not decline at all in the spring if you don't train them so you can pour all your points into one specific rating if you want. That's how I maxed my power ratings.

Yes, definitly save those points. Meet your goals during the season and save the rest of the points so you can upgrade as much as possible during the offseason and start over again next spring training.

Just finished my first full season in RTTS. Only took me two days, but hey, I'm on vacation from work this week. lol. I made a post yesterday about my stats so far, but since then, I've finished the 2009 season. Again, I was drafted by the Boston Red Sox as a switch-hitting right fielder who can play all three outfield positions, had a great spring, but was sent to AA to play off the bench. It didn't take me long to gain a full-time spot in the lineup. I was playing amazing baseball for the Red Sox AA team. Sometime before the trade deadline I noticed my name on the trading block. Didn't understand that at all considering how well I was playing. Well, to my shock, I was traded two weeks before the trade deadline to the Pittsburgh Pirates for RHP Tyler Yates. I was put on the AA team the Altoona Curve. Wasn't happy about it, but I continued to play as well as I could. Anyhow, I finished the season today, and I thought I would share my 2009 AA stats with you.

I just began the 2010 season. I didn't get an invitation to Spring Training with the Pittsburgh Pirates because it said I wasn't on their 40-man roster. However, I was promoted to AAA, and I'm the starting right fielder! Hopefully I can continue my nice pace of producing and not get sent down again. I'm also hoping to get traded to a better organization sometime down the line as well. Any fans of Seinfeld will understand this quote: "But I don't wanna be a pirate!!!" lol. Had to throw that in there.

Has anyone in their RTTS asked their manager to be traded during a season, and had it happen?

That's the bad thing about being on a real good team. They'll trade their young talent to win the championship. The Pirates will probably never trade you since they stockpile young players.

The Mariners are my team so I never wanted a trade. I tried it a few times (after saving the game) to see if I could do it but they would never trade me. I've never gotten them to switch my position either.

Nice walks and strikeouts. I've gotten better at not striking out but you do it quite a bit less than I do. I think I started out striking out almost 17% of the time in my first year. Now I'm at about 11-12%. You had a nice, low 7% strikeout rate in your first year.

Thanks alot, dude. I definitely tried my best to keep my strikeouts at the bare minimum. Believe me, it was very hard sometimes to lay off certain pitches. lol.

I was definitely surprised with my stats in AA. I thought for sure I was going to play like crap and be stuck there for a second year. Hopefully the Pirates will trade me at some point. Maybe I could just keep asking and asking and asking until they get annoyed of me and give in. lol. Either that, or hope that they don't renew my contract after it expires. I'm in the second year of a three year contract I was originally given by the Red Sox. I'm really excited to eventually get called up to the majors, though. Even if it is the Pittsburgh Pirates. My only real competition is Steven Pearce who is on the MLB club at the moment.
