Re: PS2 Impressions thread
I went back to wal-mart and exchanged it for a different copy. I also cleaned the lens on my ps2 and rearranged a few wires on my TV. Looks like I'll be sticking with 09 after all

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
No that I'm at peace with my technical difficulties I can start talking directly about the game. Here are some things I like better so far about this years version.....in no particular order
1) Hitting is much improved and much harder. I actually strike out every once in awhile now. I also like how you dont have to be ridiculously early on a pitch in order to pull it.
2) Pitch movement is much improved. Some pitchers have wicked curve balls this year. Pitches across the board are much better. I like how the CPU will actually throw some high fastballs this year...they eat me alive with those.
3) Pitching is a lot more challenging this year. Make a lot of mistakes and you will get torched. I actually fear hitters this year.
4) Throwing errors....nuff said.
5) I like how pitchers will actually catch balls hit back up the middle every now and then.
6) I'm also liking a lot of the batting stances this year. A few are still off but thats to be expected.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Thanks for the info...remember, I'm new at this, so can you explain how this works? Do I upload to the memory card in the PS2 slim? Is there a link to the SCEA roster updates?
Big help thanks again!Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
This might help you PlayStation Network Adaptor FAQ. Remember, your "network adapter" is already built into your ps2 slim so you dont have to buy one. Maybe this well answer some of your question about connecting your ps2 to the internet though.Comment

This may need to be moved to another thread so not to hi-jack this outstanding sticky thread, so if so...please move as you wish. This might help you PlayStation Network Adaptor FAQ. If I read the FAQ correctly, as I have a wireless router in my house, I would need some type of connector to go in the PS2 Slim to receive the broadband feed? Or, just take the PS2 closer to the cable modem/router and connect with an ethernet cord?
Also...to my other question, is there a specific link to the SCEA roster updates?
ThanksComment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
This is what I do (I dont have a router). I just hook the ethernet cable into my comcast cable modem and connect the other end to my PS2. Keep in mind you still have to have your ps2 hooked up to a TV (my tv and computer are pretty close together). I turn on my TV and ps2 like normal, and then when you load up MLB the show on your ps2, go to the online section of the menu and it will log on to the internet and automatically download the rosters and prompt you to save them and use them for offline use (it may prompt you to set up an account if you dont already have one). Like I said, I dont have a router so I'm not sure how that goes. This may need to be moved to another thread so not to hi-jack this outstanding sticky thread, so if so...please move as you wish.

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
I hooked my slim to my router, got online and downloaded rosters for the first time last night...
I'm pretty tech challenged, but it was very easy...
Hook up the box to the router via eathernet cable, fire up the game, go to 'online' tab on main menu and just follow the prompts...
I found I needed to make sure my pc was NOT also online for it to work...not sure if that's the case for all, but it made a difference for me...Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Thanks to both for the suggestion...just to be sure, by clicking the online tab, that will take me to the SCEA site? Don't have to do that on the computer?
I actually have a tv near our computer (small) but it would work just to do this I presume.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Yeah, you do everything on your TV. You just have to connect your PS2 to an internet connection.Comment

So what level are you guys playing on right now? I'm using an RTTS pitcher and going on Legend. It is extremely hard, but very rewarding at the same time.Comment

Re: PS2 Impressions thread
Played a game on All Star last night with slightly adjusted sliders...
Royals (me) vs. Orioles (cpu)...
Very happy with gameplay and presentaion, as in previous years, noticed little improvements and changes that were positives...
But I also saw my first pretty nasty glitch that I hope is not going to turn into a recuuring one...
In the third inning I decided to try and bunt for a hit down the first base line using Coco Crisp...
I flicked R3 down a bit and to the right (like last year) to aim it and get the bunt down...
Matt V. says something to the effect of "Oh the bunt is rolling foul", which it was after staying right on the foul line about halfway to first...
Crisp kept running however, and the pitcher picked up the ball just outside the foul line and threw to first beating Crisp to the bag...
The commentary chopped a bit and after the "Oh the bunt is rolling foul" line switched to "and the throw beats the runner to the bag, he's out at first"...
And it was recorded as an out, even though it should have just been strike one on the foul...
Never saw a glitch like this in The Show, and since I like to bunt for a hit now and again, I hope it's an isolated experience...
Anyone else see anything like this?Comment
