PCI is the place coverage indicator...the yellow circle you see when you click L stick to check your swing....Ive been doing what countrboy told me, which was go into batting practice and have the PCI visible to work on my timing....its working

I guess I was completely unaware that there was a new batting system with this year's game. So are the 9 zones now gone? Is everything based on the Plate Coverage Indicator?

Not sure if the 9 zones are gone...if you use guess pitch on then the 9 zones are deff still there. but if guess pitch is off then it really feels like the PCI is the major factor

not a dumb question...it stands for Plate Coverage Indicator. Its a circle/cursor that appears while your batting and helps you get the feel of where the sweetspot is on the bat and how much movement is required to reach pitches in all 9 zones to make "maximum" impact on the ball.

The one thing I found out was that I was moving the L-Stick(cursor) too much on pitches up, down, inside, outside, thus leading to me hitting the ball off the end of the bat or off the handle and not hitting it with the fat part of the bat.

            Its a great teaching tool.

I think that I am going to move down to All-Star as well. I've always played sports games on the next to highest level but since they added the Legend difficulty this year I was kind of in between on the issue. I just want to make sure that I am not going to completely dominate the CPU. I want the CPU to be able to beat me and every once in a while take it to me (10-2, 8-0, etc.) Are you losing games on All-Star? I don't want to tweak too many sliders either because once you get started down that road, it never ends.

yeah it shocked me how little movement is required to reach pitches. I couldn't figure out why I tomahawk 85% of pitches up in the zone. Then I went to BP and turned on the PCI and was like "oh thats why" lol

Like I said, its a great teaching tool.

Agreed about sliders, which is why 99% of the time, I don't mess with them. And keep in mind that while they added the new Legend mode, they also increased the difficulty on the other levels as well.

so does every player have the same size PCI? if so thats kinda interesting to me, seems like the better hitters should have a bigger "window" then say the average or below average hitters

I honestly don't know. When I go into BP, I only bat with Pujols. I haven't turned it on during a game to check to see if it changes with the player.
