now im not the best player right now so take this with a grain of salt...but im getting a good variety of wins and losses on All Star...I was Oakland at baltimore and they handed me my arse 10-3, with 2 of my runs coming in the 9th...so atleast for me all star is where im staying until I start consistently beating the cpu on that level

Re: Doubles, Triples?
When you think about it the whole PCI think is exactly what baseball video games used to do. Back in the days of World Series Baseball and the like they would have a visual rectangular box that you could move around in the strikezone. To hit the ball it had to be timed and within the box. Interesting that we have kind of came full circle on this one. I love The Show's hitting, don't get me wrong but I still feel like MVP 2005 had the best hitting system.Comment

Re: Doubles, Triples?
I think that I am going to move down to All-Star as well. I've always played sports games on the next to highest level but since they added the Legend difficulty this year I was kind of in between on the issue. I just want to make sure that I am not going to completely dominate the CPU. I want the CPU to be able to beat me and every once in a while take it to me (10-2, 8-0, etc.) Are you losing games on All-Star? I don't want to tweak too many sliders either because once you get started down that road, it never ends.MLB: New York Mets

Re: Doubles, Triples?
I believe the PCI is the same size for all hitters, but there is a rating called PVis (Plate Vision) and this seems to affect how much leeway a player has with a ball near their PCI.
So a guy with a low PVis needs to have the PCI make more direct contact with the ball to result in bat-to-ball contact. A player with a higher PVis seems to be able to foul off pitches that the PCI misses."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Doubles, Triples?
Are you checking your feedback? If you're not getting "perfect" or "solid" feedback then you're probably not making good enough contact to drive the ball.
I don't use power."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Doubles, Triples?
How do I check my feedback on a hit? I don't know if I am getting solid contact because I can only get feedback on missed pitches.Comment

Re: Doubles, Triples?
The only time you won't get to see feedback is when your hit results in the third out."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Doubles, Triples?
I just hit about 100 balls in batting practice. The feedback is sometimes a bit confusing. For example sometimes I will hit a little nubber and it won't get out of the infield but when I look at the feedback the "contact" will say either solid or wheelhouse (which I assume is even better than solid). The ball will be outside of the PCI. Doesn't make a lot of sense sometimes.Comment

Re: Doubles, Triples?
who are you using in batting practice? If I was you I would use maybe a 2nd tier player instead of the stud on a team...the very good hitters in the game can still hit balls outside of their PCI...so with lesser skilled players in BP will make you really have to get the ball in the PCI...then if you can hit with say Derosa....imagine what you can do with Alfonso lolComment
