And so it continues.... Guys I really don't think were gonna get anywhere on this. I think by now you either think somethings up or you don't. SCEA is either going to look into it as a programming issue or not. Russell has came on this thread and said there is no comeback ai. I have no clue clue how much he is involved with reporting potential problems but I think by this point a few of us have made it obvious we believe theres something here even after he said theres not. I think we should just end it.

re: Too many two out inning rallies by AI!! (Comeback AI Discussion)
I have no motive besides mentioning that I had seen some odd things going on with scores. I have not said what I thought it was or anything else. I just came in to read the thread because I was seeing something similar to others and hoping it wasn't a comeback AI.
Dev or not, people are seeing an anamolly and are discussing it. It could very well be nothing more than just a coincidence. If you don't see it, don't post in the thread. You don't need to run in every thread trying to justify your purchase.
Please, I am one of the biggest OBJECTIVE critiques of this game.
Don't post if I don't see it?
You sir no nothing of discourse then. Because how does one have discussion or debates when everything is one sided patting each other on the ***? Sounds pretty subjective to me.
Thank you again, for clarifying motives you and many others on here have.
Regardless, I am amazed that OS allows this to continue, with DEV confirmation no such code or bug exists. This forum is turning into a romper room.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 03-12-2009, 05:00 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

re: Too many two out inning rallies by AI!! (Comeback AI Discussion)
It's happened to me everytime i've taken the lead against the AI. They always come back and hit many HR to try to beat me. After playing more then 10 games on franchise mode i noticed this. I have CPU comeback off but it's still doing it.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

re: Too many two out inning rallies by AI!! (Comeback AI Discussion)
Comeback or an aggressive logic for teams behind is nothing new in sports games. Madden and NCAA had robo-QB for many years and even the last College Hoops 2K8 had games that were scripted as losses. Sometimes it's not so much a comeback AI, just the way the other team is programmed to act when they are losing. Perhaps they swing at more pitches, use their power swing more, or something.
Then again it could all be a coincidence. But there are a lot of people who are seeing it so it's definitely worth discussing.Comment

And there is a lot of people NOT seeing it, and a DEV saying it does NOT exist, so in essence it is not worth discussing anymore, because you wont get anywhere with it.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

This thread is still open? wow...mods gone asleep?
The answer was given...any other opions should by in the impressions thread and not its own.
OS is becoming a cluttered mess!
The problem I'm seeing is people do not realize that baseball is a game of failure!
Good players fail at the plate 60-70% of the time!
Great teams win 100 games....well that means they lose 62 times....
I like my games realistic....and comebacks and close calls happen all the time. And weird things happen here and there as well. I worked the 2000 season in Buffalo for the Bisons...I saw 70 home games plus playoffs...there has been nothing happing in the show I never saw during that season.
Some people like to punish the CPU and win all the games.....I dont mind losing. Same threads pop up in the NHL forums.....EA rep there says the same thing about comeback AI and people still tell him BS.
Both games have improved AI which analizes how you play and adjusts to attempt to gain an advantage....hmmm sounds like good coaching. In hockey the D-men start to pinch more and take more chances in hopes of getting goals....risk rewards.
In baseball the CPU may take more pitches or looks for that 1st pitch breaking ball you have been dropping on him all game.
I'm enjoying the challenge of this game. I'm sure you guys are seeing things but if you do not realize how stats work...proving your points so far are just anomolies.....you'd have to post results for a full season to have decent results.
Also what settings are you playing on...meter pitching? Are you missing your release point? I play on classic pitching so confidence is a huge factor.
If you guys want to present an argument fine. But you need to back it up with facts and stats.Former Bison, Argonaut, TSN and Sportsnet employee.

For you there isn't since you don't see it. Just ignore the thread and move on to those that have something of value for you. To those who feel they are seeing something odd, let them continue to discuss even if they are wrong. It does not harm you in any way other than your valor in defending a piece of software.Comment

re: Too many two out inning rallies by AI!! (Comeback AI Discussion)
To me it seems that the AI is tough regardless of the score or how many outs...it's just more frustrating and noticeable when it happens when you are winning or have two outs.
I think people expect to win every time they have a 3-1 lead in the 8th inning, for example. How come when you lose to a human opponent you don't cry foul? but when the AI does it you feel like you got cheated? (rhetorical question)
Either way, I can see the peoples' complaints for my reasons above...it could be true, it could be paranoia. All I have to say is that yea, I've been hit hard when winning late or when needing to get the last out.....but at the same time, I've been hit hard even when already losing or with zero outs.

You end every paragraph with that type of sentence. And it is getting old. And quite frankly not a very good debate.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 03-12-2009, 05:42 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

re: Too many two out inning rallies by AI!! (Comeback AI Discussion)
I have no motives. I'm saying that people should discuss issues they have or perceive to have with the game. I think threads about incorrect sock colors and brims of the hats are silly, but I don't rush in and beg for the thread to be closed. The community ultimately deems what threads are important based on the activity and number of members interested in it. You are the one trying to police threads you don't like due to your emotional attachment to the game.
I'm just saying you should take a step back and participate in the threads you enjoy. Let others do the same.Comment

Wow, man ... you started off good, would have debated with you, then you end with your same moniker.
It is one thing to debate color of socks or helmets because that is fact, another to debate something that does not exist when they are told by a developer it does not exist.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

re: Too many two out inning rallies by AI!! (Comeback AI Discussion)
Another thing I noticed is that I ground out into a lot of double plays. After the first couple times, I was furious and blamed the game's "code" or AI to always get the convenient double play when they need it.
But then I realized, wait a minute....I ground out regularly the whole game every game, bases empty or with runners on..lol. So I figured I just need to work on my hitting a bit before blaming the game.Comment
