This is amazing. Just got a PM from Jibby. We have the SAME name, including middle initial.
    How's that for irony?

That is cool. Funny that someone in this great BIG WORLD, would have the same name and middle initial as you. Especially becasue Jim is not that common of a name. What is your middle initial? My cousin is a Jim and his is E.

Yeh! Having the same first name and middle initial is one thing, but we also have the same last name. How weird is that?
Jim, my middle name is Freiderich (named after my grandfather, who was from Germany).

Wow, I didn't realize you had the same last name too. That is odd. Cool!

You know, you Vietnam Vets will never seem old to me (my Dad's one). You guys seem more adaptable to new things unlike the previous generation of "old guys", if you know what I mean, lol. Like the way you guys are playing MLB The Show for instance. My dad's still rockin' out to his music, but now on his ipod touch and Grado headphones .

I'm wondering how all of your guy's buttons are holding out after all of these years. I am quite the button masher. I have some of my old mattel games at my parents house still, but at least one of the buttons don't work on each one.

I'm 40 so I remember that game well.

Glad I am not the only one who played Tony Larussa 2. It even had a reserve list, kind of like a practice squad if you will. You could place a guy on the inactive list and call up another player. I wonder if this was the first game that gave you this option.

Tony LaRussa 2 was awesome. I loved the fact you could edit every player in the game. As I mentioned, I replayed the 1950 season. It was great to play in all the classic stadiums, including Old Yankee Stadium, Ebbits Field, Polo Grounds, Shibe Park, Crosley Field, etc.. I think the only ballpark missing was Cleveland, so the Indians played their home games in Seals Stadium, one of the old Pacific Coast League stadiums. I believe the Giants played there for a few years when they first moved to San Francisco before they built Candlestick Park.

Playing without a DH, using 4 man rotations, all day games, It really felt like 1950's baseball.

I don't tell her otherwise because I don't want her wanting to grab the controller and start wanting to "play".
No, you should let her play. When my oldest daughter was about 7, we played NCAA Football. I created a player, an RB, using her first name, so that it appeared on the back of the jersey. Maxed out all his ratings. Maxed out all the sliders in her favor. Put it on easiest setting. Put her created player on a power team, set up games against weak teams. Watched her play the CPU and told her what buttons to press. She scored TD after TD and won games 66-0. Seeing her joy was priceless. Memories you will never forget. Especially now that she is older and not interested in video games anymore.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

"What? You can't challenge a scoring play?''

Guess I underestimated how many people my age or older are on here. Glad my comment about those old handhelds was able to help instigate such a great discussion.

I can remember thinking that old Mattel baseball game was so cool because the plastic casing was molded to look like a baseball field, with bleachers and everything. That was the height of realism in those days. Haha.

I know this game isn't as old as some mentioned in this thread, but I used to play the hell out of Super Baseball 2020 on Super NES. It was more of a futuristic baseball game with robots and such.
