Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Download it and see if it works, if it doesnt then delete the patch and go from there. I really want it to work as Im eagerly anticipating the ability to make uneven trades but havent had a chance yet to give it a shot.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
One thing I hope we learn from this, and possibly the developers. We tell them every year to load the game up with more and more and more code (and remember, things like shadowing is code). We want everything down to the last shoelace perfect in the game and we want every stat known to baseball included. This might be the time to rethink somethings in this regard. Perhaps next year we can hope that what they have given us to date is addressed before one new thing gets put in this wonderful game, and it IS a wonderful game.
Me personally, Knight's lineup fix does the trick and I'm gleefully getting started tomorrow when I get home. Have been playing franchise games with my friend up here in Escondido and we had some really fantastic games today.
That said, I hope what I've said it as least given some consideration. More is not always better.
I'm in the same boat Jim, just loaded up Knights lineup fix rosters, gonna adjust the lineups and rotations after I enter my franchise (make sure you do this and save btw before your first game for all teams if you want it to stick)
It is time to play ball! Done with the worrying about things, just ready to enjoyComment

Re: New Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion
Does this fix this issue with the coaches? It says we will be able to hire/fire farm directors now, but what about all the other coaches? That whole system is broken, as it doesn't allow you to properly fire guys, and some coaches are impossible to get rid of even if you fire them 100 times.Comment

You know im with you on this the game doesnt really need anything new. I love it the way it is. The Glitches need to be fixed. The only thing I would love to see in the future is A-ball.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Anyone feel like the umpires are more consistent when calling questionable strikes/balls either way? I felt that one ump was shrinking the zone on me and kept it that way whereas it used to seem that they would expand and shrink at random. Could be just me and the placebo effect but just wondered if anyone else seen this.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
My impression:
Meh. Game looks/plays just like prepatch. Lineups still don't stick. Example: My Indians franchise----I have to keep moving Sizemore into the leadoff spot, switching him out with Choo.
Don't know (nor do I care) about the Cubs all night games bug.Someone else probably already stated if this is fixed, but I don't want to read thru all the pages...
For those who don't have PS3 internet access, no worries. You're not missing anything....Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Ok, well Im fairly confident that the "fixing" of the schedule is whats screwing everything up. I downloaded the patch, clearly because Im a damn fool, and went in. Everything seemed to load fine, so I went to my schedule and no instant crashes there, went to the trade screen to see if uneven trades was working and it indeed was so I knew I had the patch at that point. I then went back to the schedule and noticed that the last game I had played was against the Mets but didnt show the outcome on the main calendar screen and it was automatically placing me on the current game which was the one after this one so clearly the game thought I had played it. I clicked "x" and went into view the games for the day, noticing that there was no "sim to date" option available, scrolled to the bottom and noticed that the game showed a 0-0 score but had Pelfrey as the winning pitcher and Kuroda as the losing pitcher. I clicked "x" on my game and chose to simulate it which automatically filled in the correct stats, showing me losing 5-4 just like it had happened when I played the game. Strange part is it showed the winning and losing pitchers as well as K-Rod with the save and then at the end it listed Jason Schmidt (starter for the next game in the series) last for some strange reason. I backed out of this screen and immeaditely it booted me to the XMB, so there is my report. The uneven trade feature looked awesome but clearly this so called "patch" was a joke in the end. I really hope Im wrong in what is causing this as the thought that fixing the schedule to appease the Cubs fans here is what caused this entire problem to start is really annoying to say the least. Best of luck to you all, Im going to delete the patch and see what happens from there I guess.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Guys we have to remember it's just a video game, is it possible we are taking all this just a bit to seriously? I mean I know we want the best game possible but when you look at the total package it's still well worth the $60. We all have different things we like to get from a baseball video game but let's remember it's just a game.
Things I like about the patch are uneven trades, the hiring/firing of coaches, and the schedule fix. Those are some really nice improvements over what we had previously.
Now I did have my game crash on me right after the update but I tried it again and have had no problems. So it may happen periodically but as long as you make sure you save your work after each game I don't think it's a big issue.
Things I wish would have been fixed is the DL feature, the lineup glitch, and the historical stat glitch. Apparently they weren't able to fix them though so I'm fine with it. I'll work around it, I'll turn injuries off and even though that's a bit annoying to do I'll make the adjustment. I'll use Knight's rosters I had previously downloaded and that has all the minor leaguers and the correct lineups. I was even hoping for correctable uniform combinations even though I knew that probably wasn't going to be fixed. It's something that annoys me, I don't like seeing the wrong hats with the alternate uniforms but again I'll get over it. I'll overlook the stat glitch and a lot of the other window dressing problems this game has.
I paid $60 to enjoy this game and by george I'm going to do just that. When next year's game comes out I'll buy that one and hope that some of these issues have been addressed. This game though is the best game on the market and I'm going to enjoy it. I suggest everyone else do the same, it's not like the game is unplayable, just think how far these games have come. I remember a time when we didn't have baseball games nearly as good as this game, even with all it's issues.Last edited by Braves Fan; 04-28-2009, 04:52 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Yeah that's it the roster control fix is only for simulated games when you play game the screen will show the lineup as what you changed it to, but once you start the game the "cpu game time decisions logic" takes over. Which will default the lineup if you want to play with your edited lineup you must use the two controller work around.Comment
