Yeah, the DL issue is the biggest disappointment for me (since it wasn't addressed). I'm sure it comes down to prioritizing, but if you're a franchise nut who plays with injuries on, then it can be a biggie...especially since there can be a TON of injuries ni this game...lol. Oh well.

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
I'm guessing it's because DHs have low stamina and this is probably related to the amount of games they play. If you actually look at the amount of games most DHs play, it's often lower than position players. I can't find any DH that played in 162 games. This might have to do with DHs getting injured or not being very good, but you don't see DHs that play 162 games. Edgar Martinez, the greatest DH of all time, played 155 games in his most games played season.
I also think you have to compare the two. In 2005, Ortiz played in 159 games. If he had to play in the field every day, do you think he would have played in 159 games? I don't think so.
Also, DHs also sit out to keep another position player in the game. Matt Wieters, for example, has a solid bat, and when he gets called up, he will slide into the DH slot just to give his knees a break.
There's no way that a DH gets as, or even more, tired than a regular position player, when the position player is out on the field every inning. The DH swings the bat, runs the bases, and sits down. A position player does all of that and more.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
Paul Molitor played in 160 games with the Jays at DH in 1993 and 161 two years later with the Twins.
Ortiz has had 155+ game seasons.
Frank Thomas played in 155 with the Jays in 2007 at DH
Maybe not 162 games, but guys do get hurt too - often guys miss 5 or 10 games because of nagging injuries. This doesn't mean that the DH sits out every 5 games because they are tired.
Playing 155 games equates to sitting out every 23 games and the DH's on this game are tired after 5. There's obviously a bit of a fatigue problem.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
The DH fatigue is disappointing as someone who plays as an AL team. I like to rotate my stud players (i.e. Pena, Upton, Longo) when they are getting fatigued as a way to keep their bat in the game, but give them some rest. Can't do that now. In fact, I have to play a bench guy for my DH (Burrell) to get him rest, doesnt make sense.
The DL issue i havent run into, mainly because I havent made it deep enough in a franchise where alot of guys would get hurt, but that almost makes me want to play with Roster Control On but i absolutely HATE that I will give up injuries as well as any sort of trades or signings.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

Yeah, I completely agree. Last year it worked perfectly, I was able to give position players a little rest while keeping their bat in the lineup (they would recoup some energy after DH-ing). As a Yankee fan you often see Girardi (and Torre before him) do this to give Posada a break without losing his bat, same with Giambi last year (and apparently again on the A's this year) when his legs were hurting. I've even heard it called "a half a day off" by different managers & broadcasters. As I said, it worked fine last year, that's what makes it even more frustrating that it's broken this year. IF SCEA would give us the option to TURN OFF ALL GAME TIME DECISIONS without penalty if we want to, this would solve a myriad of problems."There are only two seasons—winter and baseball." - Bill VeeckComment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
I have now played 2 games since the patch and I'm not seeing the crash or replay issues. I watched all the replays at the end of the game and then went back and looked at a couple in the vault...no issues.
Add me to the list of people that were looking forward to a tweak in the DH Fatigue, and a fix of the DL issue...I have 4 guys on the 60 Day DL and 3 on the 15 day...it's getting thin in here.
This is where I am exactly. Verbatim.
No post patch issues but I was hoping the DL DH bugs were fixed.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Fatigue doesn't impact the players attributes much but it does significantly boost their chance for injury. When they get tired the cpu subs them out.Comment

Try this instead:
Dear SCEA,
In regards to the outstanding 'issues' with your product 'MLB '09:
The Show', WHEN can I expect a timely, thoroughly tested patch that fixes these issues?
If no patch is made available within a reasonable time frame from today, I'm sure you understand that that will certainly reflect upon my decision whether or not to purchase next year's version?
Sincerely,
John Q. Customer
Note that the question about IF a patch will be released is moot. I imagine SCEA is well aware that the most serious of these issues must be fixed and that the time between now and the announcment of the 'real' patch is simply a triage period. Unless, of course, they are willing to accept the consequences (PR and sales, for example) of not doing so.Comment

Side note, when deleting the patch off my system I can play the game just fine so my crashes has nothing to do with some pre-existing condition that I might have had prior to the download of the patch.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
I have a Cardinals franchise that I started pre-patch with Ridin's latest roster last week, and it worked fine after the patch last night. The relief pitcher's innings pitched was correct, I had post-game replays, and I even checked the Cubs schedule and saw more day games, all with no problems.
With all of the problems others have had though, I'm a bit worried about continuing. I'm only 7 games in, so it might be easier to start over and not have to worry about it than have to worry about getting farther in and losing all of my work. For the people who had the crash, did it happen as soon as you started post-patch, or could you play a few games without a problem?Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
At this point I'd like to think the SCEA team is FRANTICALLY working on a way to at least save existing franchises. I will be the first to admit that there are a multitude of things I'd like to see fixed (lineup control, rotation control, stats etc), but first should be the ability to keep people's existing franchises and RTTS working.
Im "lucky" in the sense that I waited for the patch before i really started, but some people are 40-50 games in and having it crash on them. Thats not right imo.
Hopefully things get fixed for them (and I wouldnt mind a few items on my/others list either). Hang in there OS'ersComment
