Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
There's a way to express frustration without coming across as simply whining. Many in here have been able to accomplish that, and many have not. It's just that expressing your frustrations in a civilized, mature manner accomplishes a LOT more than just stating that it "should have been caught/fixed/never-done" in the first place.
"Should have's" don't accomplish anything. Stating what the problem is and how it affects your enjoyment of the game does accomplish things. It's REALLY easy to state that things "should have been fixed" if one assumes they know the entire process. The thing is, I don't believe anybody here except the SCEA guys know what the exact process is. They know the amount of resources they have available to them. They know how much code has to be changed to correct an issue. They know how much time and money they have available to correct it.
As for the dead horse, well, you know what to do with a dead horse..................

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
ppl need to understand that a "bad" patch can and will piss alot of ppl off, therefore your bound to read posts stating much of the same complaints...but the frustration you hear or read is from many different ppl.
They I assume are only venting their "own" frustration.
Personally its a great game but this last patch is a "huge" embarrasment and rightfully so.
I do appreciate the effort, but somebody difinitely was asleep at the wheel!
to those that say these are only minor issues.....redirect yourselves to the posts stating about game crashes .....cant finish what they start because of the crashes.
not sure how minor that would be if it was you...???
kinda reminds me of all these ppl running out to get the medicine for the swine flu "just in case they need it" therefore the ones who really need it cant find any. (as of yesterday anyway)
btw what kinda of quack of a doc would allow that to happen???
ok ok sry....caught myself on a tagent eeeekComment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
With the replays not saving, it is possible that when they went and fixed the issue regarding crashes happening if you tried to save multiple replays, it had to do with accessing a memory address that wasn't valid. So they changed the code so it wouldn't access the memory address. In doing so, it resulted in not as much memory being allocated for the saves so when you get to a certain number of replays in the game, the proper amount of memory just doesn't exist anymore so instead of crashing, it just stops saving the replays.Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
ok so has anyone found a fix for the no postgame highlights or replay vault not working?
are the choices right now, either dont have postgame highlights or replay vault with the new patch, or delete the patch and put up with the stat glitch?Comment

My Lord, Russell is an adult, and I'm sure he can handle these posts, without breaking down and crying.
The post is not over the top, and asking for a substantive update to a very real issue (a messed up patch that hurts more then it helps).
Every corporation has a customer service department, Russell is essentially a customer service agent, fielding complaints is part of the job. SCEA takes advantage of these message boards because IT'S GOOD FOR BUSINESS to do so. Posters have a right to be frustrated, and to call out SCEA for problems with the product they sold.
Great post!!!!Comment

Re: MLB 09: The Show Patch Released 4/27/09 - Impressions and Discussion Here
I do not mean to belittle any of the above stated issues (plus the many others not stated here) but I have repeatedly brought up the issue of the R2 button to dive for the ball causing an errant throw to home plate. The fact that the R2 button is also an undocumented unneeded throw to home plate button which most clearly interfers with the ability of my fielder to throw to the proper base after coming up with a dive. (provided the R2 is pressed BEFORE the ball reaches the diving player's glove)
Can I please outright ask you if this issue is at least going to be dealt with if not in an upcoming patch for MLB 09, (it would be wonderful if this would be patched still for MLB 09) at least this button throw to home will be eliminated from MLB 10?
I posted this bug in the bug thread on this board. I also wrote an e-mail with a detailed description to sony customer support with a request that it be forwarded to the programmers. I am asking at least for confirmation that the programmers are aware of this issue & will try to resolve this. This problem was also in MLB 08 & I wrote to them then but it was not fixed in MLB 09.
I admit I am not a programmer, but can it be truly that difficult to disable an undocumented function from occuring in the game when it actually hinders a documented proper function of the game?
Please remember, the X button is already the proper button to use to throw to home. Why have the R2 do the same thing?
I am not being disrespectful nor am I yelling & screaming. I am simply a frustrated customer trying to at least find out if the programmers are even aware that the R2 button throws the ball to home plate.
Please please please respond to either confirm that they know or that don't know.Comment

Yes, it was a pre patch franchise save, that crashed on me after playing one game. However, it crashed on the first "full" day on the schedule. The game i was able to play, was on a day where every other game was simmed pre patch. Then, i "simmed to date" the day that it was crashing on, and haven't had an issue in 4 games sinceComment

Someone made this observation before, but I think it bears repeating. "I have never seen so many people wronged on so many levels." Everybody just needs to take a deep breath, maybe put the game down for a few days. That's what I'm doing.Comment
