Ok maybe I am missing something, how exactly is it broken ? you cant use old frachise saves. If you start a new franchise, people arent having issues, so what am i missing ?

It's broken because people have spent 100's of hours on their franchises and they don't want to start over.

A patch should never have this kind of effect on saved games.

Some of these guys are 100 games into their seasons....or more. People get attached to their players, their teams, etc and starting over from that point is a fairly daunting task.

imo the problem in deleting the pacth is that ull also lose the v1.01 pacth(came out right after the game was released)
i really dont know what that pacth did so its hard to decide what to do now, since it problaby fixed some stuff that was broken in the v1.00 that came on the disk.

That's the way to go right now, but that's not really the point. It's frustrating because it feels like this patch has broken more than it has fixed.

I've deleted the patch (which kind of sucks because in doing so, you also have to redo all of your custom music markers and so on), but I would love to hear from SCEA on this.

I know Russell was around last night, so I'm hoping they can figure out some sort of workaround or something. I imagine it's really frustrating for people that (a) play online and (b) don't know that you can delete the patch.

I wonder if they can just pull this patch and put the 1.01 back up until they fix the issues with the current one. Like Sony did when they released a faulty patch (2.4? maybe) for the PS3.

Unfortunetely, it was never documented what exactly it did as far as I can tell. I have deleted it for now, for my existing RTTS career and in the 1 game I actually got to play last night, didn't notice any large difference. Once I get around to playing a franchise, I will probably reinstall it

no offense but how long have you been playing sports games ? name a sports game that hasnt had a patch come out for it ? I dont start until after a patch comes out because of this very issue. I understand starting over sucks but in the grand scheme of things , to call the game broken, because you have to start over is....a little overboard. Also to pulll a patch just because you dont want to start over is a little much too.

I'm assuming you're referring to me calling the game broken, if not, I apologize.

Pre-Patch:
-Historical Stat Glitch
-RTTS September Glitch
-60 Day DL Glitch
-Replay Glitch (Getting stuck in replay mode during a game)
-Announcer saying the wrong name (Minor issue,never had a problem with it pre patch)
-Absolutely Horrible CPU Lineups
-(Not confirmed, but a lot seem to believe this is the case) CPU Comeback option is reversed (ON when set to OFF, OFF when set to ON)

I'm sure I missed plenty more, but whatever.

Post-Patch:
-Every issue described above is still there, other than the Stat Glitch (maybe the replay glitch is gone, haven't tried it)
-People like myself, who had no issue with the announcer saying the wrong name, are now seeing(or hearing) it happen (Minor)
-Flash Back replays no longer work (Minor)
-Post game highlights no longer work (Minor)
-Franchises that were started pre patch no longer work
-Some people are saying their RTTS saves no longer work

So people who have played a large part of their franchises are now either:expected to restart them, or delete the patch and not have the option to play online (which in all honesty, probably isn't that bad of a thing, considering how bad the online is).

Luckily, I wasn't that far into my franchise, so I started over, and yes, i've seen all of these new issues in my brand new franchise.

So while some glitches are minor and are just an annoyance, others wipe out all of the time people have put into the game. When something doesn't work as it is intended, its broken.

How about any sports game that came out prior to the 360/PS3 being released? I've never had this many issues with a sports game in my life, and i've been playing them since the NES.

I've been playing sports games since oh you know, those little handheld games you could get. Actually, technically, I've been playing sports games since they were board games.

Names a sports game that hasn't had a patch:

-every single good Madden football made.
-the MVP series
-oh let me see, pretty much every console sports game pre next gen gaming.

The patch is broken - I'm not calling the game broken, but the patch is broken. I've never seen a patch corrupt saved game files. In reality, it should have no effect on saved game files. Listen man, that's fine that you haven't started yet - obviously you are smarter than I am but for those of us that had, this sucks a lot. It's unrealistic for a game to come out March 1 or whenever, and for people not to begin playing 2 months later.

yeah well post game highlites work for me in the new franchise, the line up issue works with roster control on, they cant fix ai with a patch bro, ie the computer sees Sizemore as the best hitter in the indians lineup, so they bat him lower, the computer isnt Eric Wedge and the computer doest care if Sizemore is upset if he is not batting leadoff. It sees him as the best hitter and the best hitter usually bats third. Helton once again best contact by far, best on base by far at least ratings wise, the computer can only read his ratings and go by that, or now are we expecting a computer ai to think like 30 different managers now ?
