This is my interpretation of the fix...

When playing games sometimes I skip the batter walkups. If someone who had homered earlier in the game was next and I automatically pressed X to skip to the pitching, it would start to show the flashback of the homerun but would then stop because I had pressed the X button to skip the walkup even though I had not pressed it when it started to do the flashback. Seeing this in the list I figured it fixed the fact that unless you choose to skip it DURING the flashback you would still be able to view if you just pressed X to skip the walkup but still wanted to see the flashback.

I have not tested this to see if it works or not.

I downloaded the patch last night and started a NEW franchise using Knight's full minors roster. I played the season opener and was able to see the postgame highlight reel.

That makes sense. We complained about this at the community day and they all thought we were crazy.

They didn't have the capability to patch games, but they also didn't need patches. Those games were much more polished upon release than any of todays sports games, because they had no choice. Thats a good thing. Now developers release a sloppy product with the intention of patching it later, only to screw it up even more.

And to reply to your post about lineups....why didn't the lineups for games prior to the current generation of consoles get screwed up like this? I've never played a baseball game, saw a lineup, and said "how the hell did that happen?" as much as I do with this game.

Also, just because a games PC counterpart got a patch, doesn't mean the console version needed it. A lot of PC patches fix issues with crashing and things of that nature. It could also be fixing little issues that are hardly even an annoyance, for the sake of making the product better, just because they can. This game however, has a ton of glaring issues that needed to be fixed, and weren't. In the process of trying to fix things, they messed up even more.

Not to defend SCEA here, but those games which were mentioned and any game from PS1 and before it, didn't have nearly the number of "features" or complexity that these modern era games have. It's a lot easier to polish up and properly code the basic, simple things in a game. Once you start throwing in more buttons to press, more options to choose, more equations to calculate, it becomes increasingly impossible to get everything right. Baseball ain't an easy sport to play. Any "thinking man's game" involving complex physics of ball flight and AI choices is going to be an utter nightmare to try and simulate. Football would actually be pretty damned easy to code for since there isn't much to do regarding ball physics or "thinking".

I was also referring to xbox/ps2 games as well. Other than graphically, they aren't much different feature wise. They had to program the same things into the game as they do now, and look at MVP 05. That game came out great, with hardly any bugs. Hell, I don't think I ever encountered any bug in that game during the 2 years I played it. Now of course I understand that every game has bugs here and there, but The Show this year doesnt have them here and there. They're all over the place. The game never should have been released like it was, especially considering they advertise it as the most realistic baseball game ever.

In all fairness, it's not just SCEA. It seems to be a problem with every sports game I've played for PS3. Games for the PS2 just didn't seem to have these problems.

Madden is a perfect example - I mean, Madden 04/05 for PS2 never really had any issues. Madden for PS3, they've actually taken away features and there's all kinds of stability issues.

I haven't noticed it as much for non-sports games. Games like Fallout 3 had some problems but GTA IV was pretty solid - I never really noticed any major bugs and never had crash issues.

It just seems like sports game developers have had a hard time with the 1 year cycle since the transistion to next-gen gaming and two (sometimes major) patches is now the norm.

Does the patch download automatically if the PS3 is hooked up to the net? Or do you have to go into the online menu? I ask because I'm loving the game and my current franchise....anddd I don't play online. Sounds like this patch will do more harm than good for me.

Ughhh. Please. Never should have been released and you never saw a bug in 2 years of playing it? Come on now.

Now I haven't installed the patch, but I absolutely love the game pre-patch, and have no serious issues with it. I wouldn't trade it for MVP for all the tea in China.

MVP had more than it's share of quirks and I had squirly lineup, and questionable roster management with that game as well.

Not to mention the version of MVP where you couldn't hit the ball out of the yard with left handed hitters.

You seem to be going out of your way to make things seem worse than they are. Not sure why and don't really care, but lets keep things in perspective.

Hell Yeah I agree 100%!!! I don't have internet access at home and I don't even think I am gonna download the patch at a friends either.

I am gonna use Knights V2 lineup fix rosters and go and start my Brewers season tonite!!!

I really don't care for the historical stats or the schedule issue so I just wanna finally play this awesome game!!!
