    Re: The bad commentary thread

So I have a perfect game after 6 innings. The announcers say something along the line of "can he keep the perfect game going?' In the seventh I walk my first batter. I get a double play to end the inning so I still have the no hitter going and of course they make a big deal about it. The next inning I give up two straight hits putting runners on 2nd and 3rd, so there goes the no hitter. They say something about at least he still has the shutout. Fly ball, runner tags up and I make a throwing error that gets two runners in with no outs. I didn't bother warming up a pitcher as I thought he was in control. Well I start a pitcher warming up, but end up striking out the bottom of the order. I lose the game 2-1. I blame it all on the announcers!!!!

That's hilarious! Though if I were you, I'd probably be pissed as well.

The only way it would have been better is if you still had the lead after giving up the first run...

"Can he complete the perfect game?"
"Well, he still has a no-hitter going."
"That's the end of the no-hitter, but he still has a shutout."
"Well, at least they are still in the lead."
      "Sucks to be you, cienfuegos!"

Rex, after my RTTS CP gets one out in the 9th,
"I"ll tell you,I like the way he's going about his business, getting ahead in the count, blah blah blah."

It gets extremely old, especially when I throw one pitch to get an out. They at least need to add variety to what he says, instead of replaying the same clip every time I come into the game.

I had the same thing happen with Billingsley. Announcers kept jinxing him. Those bastards. Finally jinxed him out of everything by the 8th.

Generally, I like the commentary, but it helps that this is my first year with the game, I'm sure. I'm also partial to Vasgersian from his days in Milwaukee.

I also have some neat fog horns to add to the personality of ATT Park.

I'm thinking of keeping it like that the rest of the way.
I take the bad with the good. If you turn it off, you don't get to hear the little gems like the "Cinco de Mayo" comment. Or sometimes they just bring something really obscure up - like was mentioned above with the '99 Rockies team that scored in every inning. And the walkup/reliever music is great - I have Hoffman coming in to a blazing Propagandhi guitar riff.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not as critical as some of the guys posting here, far from it. It's just a nice change for me after playing the game the last three years. I do have to say again though that Rex just irritates the heck out of me (after three years), but if I couldn't turn it OFF I'd be okay with it. I'd just tune it out.

There is a lot of bad incorrect commentary in this game. They do have a LOT of depth. I play with pirates a lot, and they always talk about ex-buccos playing against the pirates. Lots of talk about the LaRoche brothers, etc. etc.

But really, if I hear another "fall 2 games under .500"... so help me.

If you want annoying commentary play with the A's and every other game you'll hear how Jason Giambi is likely to lay one down toward third with the overshift on, because 'we've seen that before' - WHEN?!?! Has Giambi bunted ever in a game, let alone trying to do so for a basehit at 38 years old??

Anybody catch highlights of Rex Huddler as Billy Idol on 80's night? I saw it on Sports Soup.

If SCEA need any more reasons to dump this clown from the commentary lineup, look no further.
