Yes you can turn it off. And in some parks you can see the pitch speed and ball to strike ratio on the scoreboard, but you must pitch using the catcher view. Yankee stadium is an example.

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)
There are a couple of features that I'd love to see on here, and they were both included in All Star Baseball for N64. I don't know how many of you on here are old enough to remember that game, but it was amazing and simply way ahead of its time.
I would love to have the option to pitch using the slide step with runners on base, for instance maybe holding down the left analog while you pitch. It would really increase the strategy of the chess match between the pitcher and the runner. Then, depending on the pitcher, the use of the slide step could cause a decrease in velocity, control, or both.
The other feature would be to allow at least two people, if not more, to play on the same team. You can pick the players you want to control before the game, and those would be the guys that you have control over during the game (both hitting and fielding). I absolutely loved that feature is ASB.Comment

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)
Too late perhaps ...
1. My biggest complaint was related to the timing/guess pitch. You could time the pitch perfectly and guess the right pitch and location and still pop out in the infield.
That smacks me as too much scripting rather than player skill.
2. Also, I'd like to see the ball off the bat as a fielder ... that's how the players see it.
3. And I'd like to track the flight of the ball so that it never leaves the screen and you can time leaps and dives better ...
4. Ability to play in stadium of your choice before every franchise game
5. Blow me away with uniform options
6. many, many classic stadiumsComment

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)
what i would like to see:
1: SWING STICK (optional at least). one button swinging is no challenging enough. Harder to check swing too. If that crapy 2k Baseball can do that, i think Sony could it and better
2: Different Bat Styles. i.e. Two Toned Bats, with or without Pine Tar, Barrel Size. Possibly different Brands. Rawlings bats look terrible with the 80's stripe in the middle of the bat. or just go back to the MLB '08 bat designs
3: Different Batting Stances for switch hitters. A different stance for each side of the plate.Comment

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)
Remember, in franchise mode, "the game" is all 30 teams competing to acquire the best talent. Don't forget that, that's what somebody is trying to accomplish when selecting the franchise mode (that's the game/challenge).
All 30 teams are competing to field the best composition of talent as efficiently as possible (efficient as in regards to their resources).
Please implement the many obstacles a GM would face on the job; and make sure that the features in franchise mode have actual strategic impact on the mode.
Anyway, below are a list of the most prominent challenges and obstacles a GM will face over the course of a season or several seasons:
1. Market size
- There are 4 market sizes (Yankees, Big Market, Medium Market, and Small Market) Please make me feel the restrictions of my market CONSTANTLY. I want to be broke almost always when I'm a small market team. I want to have some money as a medium market team, and I want to have a lot of wealth as a big market team. The Yankees compete in their own market (they spend almost 100% more money on their payroll than the next team, the Red Sox).
- The leagues best talent is drawn to Big Markets for a number of reasons: More fan support, more money, more prestige, more marketing opportunities, etc. Please reflect this in the game. Best talent goes to the best markets almost ALL the time.
2. Talent is VERY scarce
- Even the Yankees, when hit by injuries, have replacement-level players subbing in for their superstars. In year 1, or year 7 this should be reflected. I'm tired of having starting caliber players 2 deep at every position by year 3 of my franchise.
- Reflect the risk associated with signing expensive amateur talent.
Very young-talented players flame out more often than not (by injury, lack of development, lack of interest, or otherwise) - if I spend a fortune on a marquee amateur talent, let him flame out, it's ok, it happens all the time in real life.
These type of risk vs reward subtleties are what can really care the franchise mode. That's where the "game" outside the "game" can really come into play. Every time I make a significant investment in an amateur talent, I'm going to have as much fun following his development as I am playing the game. Let me feel rewarded when I eventually hit on a signing that turns out ok. Let me sink my head when these talents don't progress and simply flame out.
3. The Age Curve - Progression and Decline
- Players develop until age 25, then are at their peak for a few years (age 26-28), then start to decline. Only baseball's best talents can compete beyond age 30 or so. Thus players in their age 24-28 window are always going to be more valuable than players post age 29. Please find a way to implement the age-curve into the game.
- Player development is complete trash and it doesn't exist in this game. Players with potential should gradually improve until scouts deem them worthy of a major league opportunity.
- There are not many impact players in the major leagues beyond age 32. Only the leagues biggest stars are playing a significant role on their team post age 32, and for every year after that, there's less and less impact players and more and more bottom-tier role players at that age.
4. Injuries, Stamina, etc.
- Pitchers get injured all the time; I think it's 3 to 1 relative to position players. Pitchers are very prone to injury before they reach age 24, a large majority of premium pitching prospects never have success in the majors due to injury. Please reflect this uncertainty into the game.
- Injuries can sap a players value for long periods of time. Teams usually have to weigh the decision of "giving player time off now" or "letting him play hurt". If you sit a player, he recovers faster, if he plays hurt, he may never recover. Some players are simply injury prone after a major injury their entire career (and never recover).
- Older players get injured more than younger players, and are out longer than younger players.
- Majority of players are hurt and never play at their full capacity, this is even more true as players get older - find a way to make it a reward when a star player is playing at their full potential (e.g. not hindered by injury in anyway, at 100%).
5. Trades, Extensions, FA Signings
- Healthy young superstars in the prime of their career will test free agency almost every time when they become eligible (after 6 yrs of MLB service time). The large majority of times, bigger market teams will compete for these stars because smaller and mid-market teams can't afford them. Not fair? Tough. That's part of the challenge of trying to win with a small market team.
- The money owed to a player, the players age, the players service time, the players potential, the players prestige (e.g. is he a superstar, an average, a journeyman replacement player?), and the players health, needs to be programed into the player-evaluation-methodology. Most trades that go down, have as much to do with talent as they do with the shifting of resources. The game completely drops the ball in this area.
- Teams not competing mid-season will unload their superstar if the superstar is in the last year of his contract (or the last year of arbitration before being free agent eligible). It would be a lot of fun to see the game categorize organizations mid-season (rebuilding or competing) and then making the right trades accordingly.
6. Prospects and Prospect Rankings
- For any sports fan, the anticipation of how their organization's best prospects are going to turn out, or how they're are doing, is as fun as following the team during a game. Please, if you're going to implement the minor leagues, let us know who our best players are in the minor leagues! Let us know what our scouts think of them and their potential, and let us know who are the best prospects around the league (to potentially trade for). In the off-season one of the most "fun" things to look at would be how my farm-system ranks amongst the 30 other teams, along with who my scouts think the best prospects are on my team, and who SCEA thinks are the top 100 prospects overall.
7. Position Difficulty
- A player becomes exponentially more valuable to his team the more difficult the position he can play. Finding CFs, SS, C, and even 2B, that can hit well enough to stick in the major leagues is very difficult and expensive. Only some of the games most valuable players play all 9 innings/everyday at these positions. It seems this game has no value-component for a players position. Make it hard/scarce/expensive for me to find players who are both good enough to play defensively at SS, but also have enough offensive skill to not drag my team's entire offense down.
8. MLB Data & Where it's at!
- You want to know what EVERY SINGLE MLB pitcher throws and how fast he throws it? You can use Brooks Baseball Pitch F/X tool to find every single one (can't post links because of post count)
- You want to know how well a player fields his position, you can sort that at Fangraphs Leaderboards -- they have UZR data that goes 7 yrs back (can't post links because of post count)
- You want to know who the best hitters and pitchers in baseball are? Use CHONE, PECOTA, ZiPS, Marcels or any of the well established projection systems out there. These things are scary accurate and should be implemented into the game 3 yrs ago.
9. Player Ratings
Please consider using the official scouting scale:
The common grading scale;
80 – (Outstanding)
70 – 75 (well above average)
60 – 65 (above average)
50 – 55 (average)
40 – 45 (below average)
30 – 35 (well below average)
20 – 25 (poor)
10 - 15 (church softball league)
Hitting Grade (BA):
80 .330
70 .300 - .329
60 .285 - .289
50 .270 - .284
40 .240 - .269
30 .220 - .239
20 .000 - .219
Power Grade (HRs):
80 45+
70 35-44
60 26-34
50 15-25
40 10-14
30 5-9
20 0-4
Speed Grade 60-yard dash
80 6.4 >
70 6.6 - 6.5
60 6.8 - 6.7
50 7.0 - 6.9
40 7.2 - 7.1
30 7.4 - 7.3
20 7.5 <
The same scale applies to pitchers and their tools as well.
Control, Command, & Velocity.
And let me use the player's statistics to judge him otherwise.
.. I just realized this list can go on for a very long time .. so I'll stop for now.Last edited by NFLGD98; 01-04-2010, 11:47 AM.Comment

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)
One of my few pet peeves I guess I will list.
When a guy gets punch-out to close the game, and he does a fist pump, can you animate a real fist and not the GI Joe Kung Fu Grip!
Always forgot to list this.
EDIT: Oh, and a way to shut off the ring around the player who has the ball, like the CPU. So it looks cleaner and more like a broadcast.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 01-08-2010, 01:32 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)
One thing I'm hoping to see in the future is SCEA allowing us to copy the roster files to a thumb drive, move them over to a computer, and with some software allow us to export the data from the roster file into an Excel spreadsheet. We could then edit the rosters (and pretty much anything in them) in an easier to manage format, then load them back into a roster file through the software SCEA would provide, then copy it to the thumb drive and back onto our PS3. Another nice perk with this would be that roster gurus would be able to upload their roster files online and we could then download them and install them into the game.
This would bring me back to the High Heat days where I would edit rosters while watching TV, then load the rosters into my game and have perfect rosters within a day or two of having the game released.Comment

That I do know, but I can't figure out how to get the files from my computer to my PS3. I know someone had a clip of Harry a few months ago, but not sure how to transfer it over.Comment

Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)
One thing I think would be a neat addition, and may affect gameplay. Sometimes when I am pitching, I am rolling along...setting them down 1-2-3 for a few innings. In a groove. I may pause the game to use the bathroom or get something to drink...when I come back, I am not as sharp.
I'd love to see the cpu AI recoginize that I am cruising along, and have a batter or two step out to disrupt my timing. Something to try to ruin my rhythm. That would be nice.
One other thing...would love to see balks called on both cpu and user controlled pitchers. Tough to implement I am sure, but it is part of the game.

The easiest ways to transfer the files from the PC to the PS3 would either be, burn them to a disc and put the disc in your PS3, or use a USB flash drive, and copy them into a folder called MUSIC.
I hope that helps.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

I am currently in the 8th inning in Oakland pitching a perfect game with Tim Wakefield, winning 2-0. I have it paused to take a bit of a break so I don't fall into the routine and get shelled with 6 outs left. Would be my first no hitter/perfect game in 09'.
As far as balks, I wonder if they added a chance for them since they now have the 3 style pick off game.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment
