Re: Put your "wishlist" things HERE (even though it's too late for The Show '10)

A couple of quick thoughts from someone who likes to leave fielding and baserunning to the CPU
    1) At the moment I sometimes see the landing marker after a hit but this is not necessary with auto fielding and spoils the appearance. It shouldn't be visible at all.
    2) Even though I have auto baserunning I still like to control steal attempts. At the moment (perhaps due to a glitch) sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. It would be good to give auto baserunners this option permanently. The base stealing itself needs a bit of work as I'm sure others have pointed out.

MLB 10 - innovative and fresh, or same ol'?

MLB 09 is a fantastic game. MLB 08 was also a fantastic game. However, was it really a $60 upgrade? I skip through most cutscenes, and I can't recognize 95% of batting stances and pitcher motions. So the 'meat' of the improvements between 08 and 09 were more or less lost on me. Do you think the devs will take a chance and add some sort of new gameplay mechanic, taking the risk that it is buggy or not widely accepted? Or would you be happy if MLB 10 was MLB 09 with, say, collision detection and a working fielder throwing meter?

        Classic Stadiums...
Ebbetts Field, Polo Grounds, Candlestick, ect... Have the announcers include the park you choose in their dialog...Fans clothes could be from the 50's please add kids to your fan base...

        Uniforms...
        !956 Redlegs cut sleeves...1957Milwaukee Braves... 1947 Cardinals...

        More choices...
I want to be able to have an option to choose the number of teams I want to include in my season. I would enjoy a trip back to the 50's with 8 Teams from the National League and 8 Teams from the American League,,,

        Grass...
A visual up-grade would be nice...

        Weather...
I would love to see some sunsets in Night Games... Moving shadows from the clouds on the field...
        Lightening Thunder and Rain...

Bring on R-stick controls! Time for a bit of innovation.

Is there a LIST of Features/Improvements that the developers have for next year?

Im just curious if there is a master list or post compiled of things that developers would like to enhance/add and or tweak for next years game. The reason I ask is because I saw it mentioned in one of the other posts that the Sony team is already in development cycle for MLB 10.

I was also curious if collision detection between player models was ever one of these features discussed for next year. The one big thing that stands out for me more than anything is how players morph thru each other as if they are ghosts. Considering that the Show is such a stickler for realism and small detail. I was wondering if this is something that just is too difficult to program or rather something they didnt consider as a priority?

I think it would make plays at the plate and the bases so much more engaging if the game could use real physics collisions between player models. Not just actual collisions but sweeping tags that hit a runners leg and all sorts of close plays and situations....I think it would elevate this great game even further. However this could have all been already discussed ..I dont know. I just started coming here a few weeks ago

We probably won't get any info until December at the earliest.

Later this year we will get bits and pieces from SCEA.

They are closed because the game is in production now. They have have their direction for 10 and usually we start hearing some things around the holidays.

It is something that a lot of people wanted and commented on with the feedback forms. We do not know if it is one of the things they decided to take on for 10.

Improve fielding. When I watch the top fielding plays of the night/week on mlb channel, it reminds me of how important great defense is in the game. Somehow this needs to be implemented in the game. The old style jump/lunge/dive is too old for this great series.

                              Stance and pitching motion editor.
                              <O</O

Allow edits to stance on things such as one or two handed follow through, distance from plate, bat waggle, toe tap, high step stride, and front leg open/closed down. As some players tweak little things about their stances it would be nice to do this in the game.

Pitching motion editor. Allow more custom "stretch-only" players like relievers. Ability to edit the placement of the glove when coming set (ex: high or mid chest or waist). Have a slider to tweak frequency from slidestep and leg kick deliveries from the stretch. Like someone mentioned before, add delivery speed.<O</O

Visually: A few more animations after pitching. Things like a pitcher taking a walk around the mound, rubbing down a new ball, snapping the glove at the throwback or shaking his head as if he's miffed on a borderline call. If I'm in a tight game and I'm getting squeezed I want my pitcher to have the same emotion I have.<O</O
                              <O</O
Mound visits and pitcher confidence need to be retooled to realism. Realistically the pitching coach comes out to talk about a specific situation more than just to boost confidence. This affects the infield defense as well since they know how a batter is about to be pitched and gets everybody on the same page. In a way it does boost confidence overall, but not so general as the game makes it seem. So have a choice for the purpose of the mound visit. Confidence in pitches, situational, and stall (basically telling the pitcher he is facing his last batter) would be a few good options. Have a user controlled catcher mound visit to have an effect on confidence in specific pitches or locations.
                              <O</O
Pitching confidence tied to location in addition to a specific pitch. Will help for situations when you are pitching to contact or trying to make guys chase.
                              <O</O
A little presentation extra like being the “game of the week” or a “chase for October." Bring in at least a monthly TWIB show (or even newspaper) showing the hottest players and updating divisional races. Weekly may just become repetitive unless they do it perfectly.

                                My wishlist is simple...

*Fix ALL Franchise/Season glitches. The developers should be able to get this right if they finally spend time on it rather than copying the same old code to the new game.
*Make Batting Practice available in Franchise/Season Mode. You can have the option to do BP right before your game, like in real life. Instead of it taking place in "Practice Field", it would take place at the ballpark youre playing at that day.
*Remove the "Comeback AI" option. I'm not saying Comeback AI is always on or reversed (like some people do) but it would remove most suspicion and confusion about how the engine works.
*The HR trot around the bases should be longer.
*The glove-to-ball collision detection needs to be finetuned. I'm talking about how the defenders tag people and pursue balls. There are so many times where the Human-controlled defender should be going into an animation but they just kinda run through the ball and let it go by them. It's frustrating when I make perfect contact and get out yet the CPU makes weaker contact to my 3B and the 3B fails to simply move his glove 6 inches over to make the grab. Diving shouldn't be easy but it's UNBELIEVABLY uninituative in this game. The glove-to-ball collision detection needs to be fixed.
