If moving the outfielders to shallow causes the cpu to not go 1st to 3rd on a hit to right defeating the purpose though? Runners should be going 1st to 3rd on hits to right. It's just that right now they are getting thrown out.

You don't know how good it is to have someone from SCEA actually come on here and admit this is a problem. If this could get fixed via patch I would be overjoyed. I'm so sick of having rallies killed by these plays. I too am an auto baserunning guy, and I don't feel like switching. And even if I did, that doesn't fix the problem on the CPU's end.Comment

2nd...it doesn't eliminate all runners from attempting it, but it seems to be based more on runner speed, which is what should be the determining factor, along with the RF arm strength.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: HELP !!! This 1st to 3rd over aggressive baserunning is killing me !!!!!!!
Epic Bumpage!
Anyone having problems with over aggressive cpu runners trying to take third from first on a single.
I've only played a handful of games but I noticed this pretty quickly.
The thing is I think it's tied to the throwing meter. My last game I thought "Maybe I should load me throw a bit harder to the cutoff man or third baseman." I did that and sure enough the runner promptly stopped at 2nd. Didn't even round it for that matter.
I think the runner knows if you're gonna "Manny" the ball back into the infield and it takes advantage of it. I only had the opportunity to do it the one time late last night and it seemed to work. Just an FYI if you guys see the same thing and want to try this out.
The one instance they did go was one they should have gone on, (does that even make sense? lol)
But the other three times were lazy singles that the cpu would have stretched in my first 10 games or so.
Agian I'm not sure if this completely works, I need to play more games and get into more situations for me to be convinced but it worked well last night in 2 games.
I hope this continues becasue I don't want to even think about sliders.
I play manual fielding all aides off.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. VERY EASY FIX - read this!
This happens to me all the time. If you want to still use AUTO baserunning AND have this not happen, here's a very easy solution.
Put baserunning at AUTO. Keep it on AUTO. Then, the moment you see a runner of yours rounding 2nd and about to attempt to take third (and be out by 20 feet), press start and switch baserunning to manual. Instead of continuing on to 3rd for a certain inning-ending rally, by setting baserunning to manual for that moment, the baserunner rounding 2nd will not continue on to 3rd. Instead he will retreat back to 2nd. After the play is over, set baserunning back to AUTO.
So in summary. Always have baserunning on AUTO. However, the moment you see a runner of yours rounding 2nd, switch baserunning to manual. This will halt your runner at 2nd and prevent him from taking third like a fool. After the play is over, set baserunning back to AUTO.Comment

Re: HELP !!! This 1st to 3rd over aggressive baserunning is killing me !!!!!!!
First..not all runners should attempt to go from 1st to 3rd on a routine, ground ball to RF. There's no way in hell that I'd send Yadier Molina, Jason LaRue, or Albert Pujols, from 1st to 3rd on a hit to RF, because they don't have the speed to successfully get there.
2nd...it doesn't eliminate all runners from attempting it, but it seems to be based more on runner speed, which is what should be the determining factor, along with the RF arm strength.
True enough.
But you can only do this for your team right, if you change the cpu teams outfield positioning don't they reset it back to where it was.Last edited by baseball66; 03-23-2010, 01:00 PM.Comment

Just do everything this guy said.
However it is quite pathetic when there are 0 outs and you have David Ortiz on 1st base and there is a base hit to RF,
and even though Ortiz has just touched 2B as the RF fielder with a great arm (Francour) has already fielded the ball,
he will gun him down by 40 feet or so.
it is very silly. but you can overcome it.Comment

Re: HELP !!! This 1st to 3rd over aggressive baserunning is killing me !!!!!!!
This is pretty obvious, but the CPU's team baserunning is awful too. It's really annoying.
I just use self-restraint, and very seldom attempt to throw a runner out at third. I get so many "free" / "cheapy" outs when I'm pitching because of the computer's terrible baserunning... it's not fun! It's just flat-out annoying.Comment

The cpu runner agressiveness slider really needs to be brought back because a couple of clicks and the problem was solved.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Do most of the over agressive baserunning mistakes happen on balls rolling on the grass or hit in the air? Just wondering if that has something to do with anything. I'm seing a lot of rollers going for hits.Comment

Does the difficulty level you play on make any difference regarding how aggressive the cpu baserunners are or is that just a pitcher batter thing?Comment

doesn't this affect a cpu's tendancy and/or willingness to steal bases or try to take the extra base?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
