HELP !!! This 1st to 3rd over aggressive baserunning is killing me !!!!!!!

I mentioned this in another thread but this is what I wrote: "I do see some agressive baserunning this year but it isn't as bad as it was last year. Last year if there was a sharp line drive hit to Swisher and a runner at first, 99% of the time if the runner tried to go from first to 3rd, I would gun him out. This year, ive noticed that the runners don't always try to take 3rd on a hit to the outfield and when they do, the chances of me gunning out the runner at 3rd is a lot less than it was last year."

Just my opinion.

Just my opinion.

I kind of agree with you here. It hasn't been a huge issue for me so far. I play on all-star by the way.

When the cpu gets hits to the outfield i generally use the cutoff man now anyways because of the fact they "will" take the extra base this year if you overthrow which i didn't see much of last year.

Next time i do happen to gun down a runner on the basepaths i'm going to check their attributes to see if they are out of whack in the baserunning department.

One way Scea might be able to fix some of this is to tone down the accuracy of throws to 3rd as that seems to be the place where throws are the most accurate, unlike home plate but that's a story for another day,lol.

This is strictly for how aggressive they are on the basepaths in taking extra bases not stealing.

thats somewhat comforting, but again, I would be afraid that it will hamper guys that do have speed and are able to stretch a single into a double or go from 1st to 3rd on a hit to right field or go from 2nd to home on a base hit to the outfield.

Nah, it worked by design when it was in the game and basically corrected the CPU running themselves out of innings.

Id be curious to see if you put all players at 50 AGG, then would the speed factor be the determining factor ? Since we have some time until Knights rosters come out maybe ill set all base agg to 50 , play about 10 games and see what the numbers are. These were the top 5 NL outfield assist leaders in 2009. Im curious with base aggr globally at 50 playing a whole season for whatever team you use, it would come out to be ?

Last nite I had a couple guys try to go first to third and once he was safe and the other was a real close out.

I also checked and both guys were faster players.

There was an instance where the CPU had a guy on first and hit it to right field and they had a slow runner and he stopped at second.

I think it is a minor issue to me cuz the plays I have seen have at least been close with faster players.

i agree with you guys, its not near as frequent as last year but hey i need something to do until Knights rosters come out lol. Maybe ill get Heavy Rain lol.

Well since I bumped this thread and started loading up my throws from the outfield I haven't seen the aggressive runners go from 1st to 3rd on the lazy arse singles like they were when I first started playing.

That's not to say that some haven't gone but they went on plays they should have.

In my first 10 games I had 4 outfield assits with me centerfielder and 3 with my rightfielder. In the last 9 games I've played they only have one a peice and one was from a blooper that the runner thought was gonna be caught and hesitated to 2nd.

Any new info here? Im at the point where Im forced to use manual baserunning until Ive got a runner on 2nd and then I can move it back to auto but I really dont want to have to do this over and over during the course of a game. In my last game I had Furcal thrown out at 3rd on a routine single to right and the play wasnt even close. Later in the game I had Martin thrown out at 3rd on a very similar play to what happened with Furcal earlier. The icing on the cake was on a popup just on the outfield grass and Ethier went half way like they normally do on a fly ball, only this was just on the outfield grass and of course he was doubled off at first thanks to his stupidity. I went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to a 2-run single in the bottom of the 9th but the CPU ran me out of atleast 3 innings when I had something going as evidenced by the fact that I had 12 hits but only 2 runs. Apparently most people use manual baserunning as this topic has drifted back in this thread but Im hoping someone out there has found some sort of work around for this.
