    Re: MLB 10: The Speculation

I love how everyone freaks out the last few weeks before release...

This happens every year, we're never satisfied with the content they provide yet we all go out and play the game.

Everyone needs to take a breath and sleep til' March 2.
Currently playing on PS5 & XBOX SERIES X:
    • EA Sports College Football 25 - PS5
    • MLB The Show 24 - PS5

The part that worries me is that these are the best additions this year? I'm supposed to shell out $60 for new rosters and a homerun derby mode?

I've bought the game every year since it came out for the PS3 (it was the sole reason I bought one at the time), but this is the first year I'm not excited. A big part is probably getting burned with the online play every year. It kind of went like this:

'07: Ah man....the online sucks. Oh well, it's the first year.
'08: Traffic delay is mostly fixed, but now it's just laggy and sucky. They HAVE to fix this by next year....
      '09: WTF this still sucks.

So I'm sitting out until I hear different.
Maybe you got burned by the online play....but you're very wrong about it being a roster update and HR derby.
Have you even read any of the info?

Only things I've read that get me excited are the reduced "snap" of defenders, some high choppers, and an improvement in extra base hits. Otherwise I'm expecting a similar game. So yes, I have read the "info."

That's not to say it will be bad, but I think the improvements over the last couple years have spoiled me. It just doesn't seem like it's worth a $60 upgrade to me this year.

Yeah, I can kind of agree. I will buy it anyway, but the improvements for this year seem to be the least exciting of any year I can remember. I really cant wait for them to add expansion teams and relocating and all that stuff.

I think you missed a few additions..but if those dont excite you we cant help you..umm catcher RTTS, camera..ball physics..30 team control...maybe you dont use those..I can see your point then..why drive a ferrari if you only go to the end of the driveway and back..

Knight, don't waste your time defending the game. There is plenty of content to look at and you and the rest of the comm. day guys have done a tremendous job sharing info. True fans of The Show know all the hard work put into this years game.

Right, and if I don't care about a home run derby at the all star game, or other new additions I don't care about, then for me, it's just a roster update.

My being less excited about it this year doesn't have any impact on how excited you can be. That's fine.

Lol, I remember a time when the only info I would get on an upcoming sports title was a couple screenshots and a few paragraphs in EGM... I'd reread those articles for a month just because I was so excited for the game to come out.

Now, we go two days without info, and a demo hasn't been released (a luxury that certainly didn't used to exist) and people half lose their minds.

                      Times have certainly changed.

You're not eager to see the realtime presentation or day games' progressive lighting ?

You're opinion may change after you play the game a few times.

After breaking down for a ps3 last year just to play MLB the show I was in total amazement of this game. These people really do a a amazing job with this game, I wish Basketball and football video games could be this good. So I am not really worried about a demo and probably wont even bother to download it because I know it will be great and I will just want the game that much more.

I think he's strictly a online guy from the way he makes it seem. Can't blame him for being disappointed these last few years can you?

This is the year SCEA has assured us the online play would be fixed. If things don't look better this year for online play I might lose all hope.

As far as K_Gun's post on the first page....

just my .02$ so don't flame....

is it possible that all those sig styles never made it into the game this year?

they weren't in the CES build (per russell) or the OS CD event(per several members) either.

I'm a bit worried that no one responded to this. It's not something we've heard a whole lot about and it'd be a huge let down if for some reason this was true.

Regardless, I'm getting the game next weekend and waiting very anxiously for it to come out. I haven't been this excited for a game EVER

I understand your gripe about the online play....it seems to have been improved this year...but of course we will have to see.

now as far as the bold part.....what would you prefer.... what Sony San Diego chose to do, which was build a great game and add stuff early on.....or what some other sports games do.....where it seems they purposely don't add too much to the game, only to be able to add a gimmick or something every year just to be able to sell copies....

since the first PS3 MLB game....it ran at 60fps.... a couple of years later another nonbaseball sports game "finally" ran at 60fps and this was used as a selling point.....

they gave us alot of stuff early on to satisfy us....and while still being on top, they are still giving us stuff every year, instead of sitting just sitting on their butts.

to have an attitude about "I'm supposed to shell out $60 for new rosters and a homerun derby mode?" imo, is not fair.......and will only motivate the suits way on top to push for a "different" type of an approach next gen with this great Baseball series.
